  1. Someone must be watching this thread.... Due very soon apparently
  2. Couldn't agree more, there's no pleasing some people. I am wondering if the models did infact arrive at the original time, but then were quarantined for a thorough QC check by Hattons. This then took less time than expected and so they were released earlier. Would explain why 'Pre Grouping Fans' model appears to have been run, and also the rather sudden "they're not here yet" and then "oh now they are here" comms. Purely conjecture of course. Let's see how many have faults in this batch...
  3. Thanks for this. I'll be getting a few packs of the Gypsum containers, now just which era to model!? It looks like this type of container was used earlier, did it appear on the GBRf FEAs? @Accurascale Fran is the name plaque part of the mould or is it removable? Also can we have some FCA wagons please?
  4. They're a commercial thing, nice chap called Jon does them. He is normally found at the Basingstoke and Fareham shows, and does a few others, think he's based in Aylesbury. No website unfortunately. They're great, and you can make custom ones too with the amount of foam that's excess.
  5. It's not too bad a job, the front gangway pulls off revealing a removable door (you get 2 spares). Remove the headcode glazing piece from the door, and then I think I used some acrylic* thinners to remove the printing from the glazing. Then add number of your choice. Tada. *may have been enamel I think I've got enough now... BR Research 6 coach TC project on left, 6-REP project in the middle, and a 5-TCB project on the right.
  6. A curious eBay listing has appeared for these, does this mean they're imminent? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/392865439198
  7. Thanks for the information and experiences. I have had a look at my 3 Voyager motors and they are all the same. Whilst the motor is in a plastic mount, the bottom is unprotected. There is a very shallow rectangular well, maybe 0.3mm deep, which supposedly should clear the motor, clearly this isn't happening. I'm currently running the motor in off the track, and it is running warm. I have loosened the 4 screws which hold the plastic mount in place, these were quite tight and so perhaps pushing the motor onto the metal chassis. I may we'll try some of these cooling pads that have been suggested. Thanks again.
  8. Excellent news: O Gauge Class 50 Batch 2 – General Release Models #4020 BR blue (refurbished) #4021 BR Large Logo Blue (grey roof) #4029 BR Large Logo Blue (black roof) #4030 BR Large Logo Blue 50036 Victorious WEATHERED #4032 Revised Network SouthEast light blue #4033 Departmental blue 50019 Ramillies WEATHERED
  9. I wonder if this could be the problem I'm currently having with hot motors, see my post in this thread: Can anyone share their experiences with regards to warm motors?
  10. Sorry to dig up old threads but this seemed the most suitable. Recently I've been working on my 3 Voyagers (2x220 and 1x221), DCC fitting, upgrading the lighting, and trying to run an 8-car. After a false start with trying to create a dummy 4-car set (as has been noted on RMWeb before, it seems Voyagers cannot handle more than their own weight), I now have 2 motors, chipped with the same DCC Concepts z218 chip, and after fiddling about with CVs an 8-car seems to run ok round the club layout: After 20 minutes or so of running, all seemed well but I noted both motor coach bodies were very very warm. I whipped the body off one and found the motor, fly wheels and metal chassis were hot, the motor in particular very hot. Having not run these for a long time I'm wondering if running them back in might help, but then I saw the numerous threads on here about dodgy motors, and cleaning the brushes. I might yet give this a go but I was wondering if anyone else has had similar problems, and indeed a diagnosis. Perhaps a new motor from Bachmann but at £25 or so each I'm a bit loathed to. I didn't test my 221 as much as this was giving me other problems at the time.
  11. Thanks for the tip, caught up on the 45 thread (that was fun!) and good to see Ben's input. Hopefully we'll see 33008 on the new 33/0 headlight tooling in the coming years, it's just crying out to be done in the later green livery with SYWP.
  12. At the risk of sounding optimistic about what the future may bring, can Hattons shed (sorry) any light on a potential Batch 3, and whether any of the previously discussed concerns may be corrected ? I'd be happy to take a risk on my third 66 in the form of an EWS example, but a) the EWS branding needs correcting, and b) it's just so much more economical to buy DCC sound fitted rather than retrofit. So I'm hoping Batch 3 may address this. Be interested to know how many of the remaining DC only models are left, seeing as the DCC sound fitted sold out so quickly.
  13. I've learnt from previous batches (NSE 33114 and Blue 33056) that if you want a particular livered 33 don't hang around just buy it! They seem to sell out very quickly now, much quicker than Bachmann and Hornby which leads me to think they're producing much lower volumes. Luckily I was able to get the 2 aforementioned locos before they sold out but not before I was posting a similar post to yours!
  14. My sound NSE 159 arrived yesterday and given it a good run. Sounds are better than I was expecting but definitely in need of a speaker upgrade. The bodyside indicator lights are a nice touch but not very bright and you can only see them dead side on. Is there a more in depth manual for the decoder? Looking at seeing if I can tweak the brightness of LEDs and sound volume (it's not CV 63) Cheers
  15. Did NSE 117s get out the Thames Valley much? On Flickr there's a picture of one at Neath in 1987 on a Swansea to Bristol service, but other than that I've not seen any pictures of NSE ones "off route". Tempted by a Blue Grey one for my Weymouth area layout, but NSE just looks better! (sorry)
  16. The couplings on these look the same as the 158 which is certainly clunky. The 4TC whilst similar is narrower and only has 4 contacts. Strangely I don't really notice it on the TC but I do on the 158. I think it will be even more noticeable on the 117. The alternative solution would be two (sound) decoders...so we would probably be talking over £400 for the model.
  17. Sorry you are of course correct I don't know why I put July when I knew it was August !
  18. Just realised that there was a more turquoise green later, so what is this variant? The same Brunswick green but with no SR headcodes?
  19. Fragonset 33103 was bolted to it for a period in the mid-2000s, this is how I wanted to model it so hoping the "turquoise green"* will be announced. I note pre-orders at the cheaper price are until the end of July, what happens if we get there and no turquoise, but it is later announced? Will it have a cheaper price for a time too? *It's not turquoise, but how should this permeation be best described?
  20. The best RoS deal I had on eBay also coincided with a 10% off day, so the £200 asking price for a Heljan 33 and 4 ESSO tanks was down to £153 after they accepted my offer of £170! Bargain!
  21. Got up to our clubroom last week to give 66621 a run in, now runs nicely and the wobble has gone. Now time to sort the lights..
  22. Various bits and bobs happening with stock at the moment, including... 3x Dutch 73s in the paint shop for colour rectification (not all mine): 47303 in Freightliner red triangle nearly there: New Heljan 33063 receiving a livery modification (Mainline branding in wrong place on one side - being replaced with a Construction sector): 33207 and 37711 adopted some ploughs: Scale Model Scenery MoD side door containers built and now in the paint shop: And finally got in a lil running session on Redbridge to test some stock and run things in, including my Hattons 66 which is now wobble-less! Happy modelling.
  23. Hi Mark, It's Ratio 432 SR Precast Concrete Fencing sprayed Matt black. HTH.
  24. Exactly, we will have to live with it but strange it's taken me about 10 years to notice it! It's still a great model, I'm up to 12 now but having to be careful with these higher prices, gone are the £39 Hattons bargains!
