  1. The latest batch of 33/1s are due to arrive this week according to Rails. Unfortunately, the price has risen from £161.46 to £178.46, and £195.46 for a weathered one! I say it every time we get a new release but remember when they were £39 on Hattons, same tooling pretty much! We were on the lookout for a D6580 for our club layout but at that price it was prohibitively expensive, luckily managed to find an earlier release at Warley for the fair sum of £85!
  2. Fantastic work Ian, I had held off from buying 59005 as wanted to model one of the other variants 001-004 but was waiting to see what work was required! I will probably chicken out and wait for Dapol to hopefully do another release, in the meantime I'll wait for 59004 in later Yeoman to arrive, hoping they get the details correct!
  3. I've installed it in several locos and not had issues as yet, other than the lower volume in the 58 and 59. It may just be the sound file, but the setup sounds particularly good with the Class 50, and here's a 37 where the recommendation came from: Whether it's affecting the chip long term is unknown, but none have gone on me yet. I should really put a meter across the speaker outputs to see what the actual impedance is, but the video author suggests it's closer to 4ohm. Unfortunately the 12ohm speakers aren't available anymore, so I've got to look at alternatives anyway.
  4. I think it's something to do with the EM1's power output only being 0.5W, so you have to add a second speaker to 'boost' it. But I found the same thing with the Class 58, when I paired in parallel with a small 12ohm speaker at the suggestion of Roads and Rails, to give more power and better high frequencies. It worked great giving an output of 3ohms (ok on a V5) but it's almost like the purpose of the EM1 just becomes about bass, rather than volume as you get with th EM2. A better 4ohm speaker in series may improve things, but again is the capability of the EM1 just being masked by the loudness of the other 4ohm speaker. It's probably more for discussion in the DCC Sound forum but interesting topic nonetheless. PS @Rhysb interesting yours works just with the EM1, when I tried this the sound would cut out the moment you tried to move the loco, as if the speaker couldn't cope, probably because it's 0.5W. I had to turn it right down to get it to work, then installed the second speaker in series.
  5. Managed to get my 59/1 out on the club layout for a run, modelling the Whatley - Fareham stone with 18 ARC JUAs. A club colleague brought his Yeoman 59 along too, which looked great on the Dapol JYAs I fitted an EM1 to my 59/1, which gives good bass, but the volume is not great even turned right up. It is paired in series with a standard 4ohm speaker from DC Kits/Biffo, just wondering what others have set theirs up with? Here's a vid:
  6. A good price that Charlie and Bif. Do the lights work correctly without physical modification or are we all going to have to do the changes Richard has discovered? I did wonder whether the factory have fitted the PCBs to the wrong models. I don't have a 59/0 to test, but I wonder whether swapping all the PCBs over from the 59/0 to the 59/1 and visaversa would make them work correctly without modification.
  7. Lol so the 59/1 has the correct number of lights for the 59/0, and the 59/0 correct for the 59/1!? Still waiting on my ARC to arrive, hopefully before Christmas!
  8. Oh for goodness sake they've done a Hattons bugeye 66 on us!! Hopefully easily corrected. I've a 59/1 to arrive so hopefully this has the correct lighting.
  9. To their credit Rails are now honouring my original pre-order price.
  10. If I didn't already have two I might be interested at that price! Conversely SWR too modern for me so I'm clear with this release, as nice as it looks. But it does worry me for if/when we ever see original SWT again that it will be over the £500 mark. It's a shame Bachmann aren't wheeling out the 450 again as a SWR 450 would complement this release very nicely, but again it would probably be touching £600.
  11. Thanks, I hadn't spotted Colletts were still low, he's normally very good BUT has done the same thing when it actually comes to the models arriving - he doesn't update the website until very close to arrival so I would expect that price to also rise, with emails to customers. I think it happened with some Heljan 33s back in the day, because I had two on order he honoured it.
  12. My preorder with a certain Sheffield based retailer has increased by around £11, despite preordering before 1st November when Dapol said the price increase would take effect and orders placed beforehand would be subject to the original price. Have asked for a response but still waiting. Maybe because the 59 was announced sooo long ago it had to have a price increase? Anyway, may cancel because I only pre-ordered thinking the lower price would be guaranteed, I'm sure the 59s will be widely available, and maybe discounted at some stage, you can pick up the latest 73s from Kernow with a 4-TC for a very reasonable price.
  13. So is this wagon accurate or a mish-mash of a dodgy underframe under a new body tooling? There are plenty of Dutch ZCAs on Flickr, and Mainline too. But I can see that the underframe is very different. I picked up these very nice kit built ones of eBay a few years ago, which have the correct underframe.
  14. Dapol have it correct - I don't think any GBRf 73s actually received a grey roof, all blue and the grey is weathering as Jo says. It has caused much headaches over the years trying to work out! Currently doing 73208 (BR Blue circa 2008) which has the same problem, the roof looks grey in the majority of pictures but when fresh out the paint shop it was blue. I find it strange also how Dapol can get GBRf pretty accurate, yet struggle on earlier liveries. I'm tempted by 73136, and will repaint the bottom band if it arrives. Kernow are currently doing bundle deals with the other new 73s and a TC at very favourable prices, so might have a chat with them at Warley...
  15. Just been informed ASLEF will strike on Saturday 26th November, which will severely hamper travel plans for many to the NEC.
  16. Colours look good, the yellow is so much better than the lemon on the first release of this livery. Funnily enough I'm busy redoing the yellow on my original Dutch 73s this week
  17. Using the M word the previous RR 158 can be backdated with Express branding pretty easily, a couple have been on eBay. It will still sell I'm sure, just saying something a bit different would've been nice! Arriva, TfW, FGW, EMR, SWT, SWR, Alphaline, Northern, Central Trains, First North Western etc - so many to choose from. The Virgin 47 on the new tool is welcome. 47845 looks good for renumbering to 47805 and 47840 as sealed beam at both ends. 47814 was an odd choice with its extended yellow sides and required very careful work or a repaint to remove it.
  18. Enjoyed the "How about some TT?" joke (TTTE that is) 158s - shame one of the liveries is almost identical to a previous release with the addition of the EXPRESS branding, I mean so many other liveries they could've done! Virgin 47 seriously tempting though.
  19. I spoke with Kernow at the weekend, who may or may not have a 159 up their sleeve for release. They advised me it won't be released until the next batch of 158s are due, which sounded like early next year, but does confirm that new 158 liveries are on the way.
  20. A flickr album here with some good Solent reference material. Looks like the Y on most of them during 2005 with some debranded in 2006. https://flic.kr/s/aHsjH1AjV6
  21. Thanks Jo, helpful. When did they loose their revised Yeoman branding?
  22. I hope you worked it out but if not there are two horizontal clips which you have to push in with a screw driver, bit awkward but they do go, push them towards the centre of the wagon Here's the chassis stripped down I've swapped all my sides so I have old style one side and new style the other, two rakes for the price of one
  23. Great to see such positive feedback for the Deltic. I've caught up late on this thread so apologies if I've missed it, but is there likely to be a second run featuring other numbers? I'd like a model of D9000 in green with headlight circa 1999 condition for hauling Virgin XC trains. I note Locomotion's D9002 is pretty similar...is it suitable for renumbering or am I best holding off?
