  1. It seems that many people are receiving refunds from PayPal after the appropriate claim is made and the resolution period is complete. Interestingly it also seems that the refunds are being made by Craftsman (at the very end of the resolution period) so they are apparently responding to PayPal demands. As I said above, it was indicated that they intended to continue in business but there does not seem to have been any indicator of activity yet. Edit to correct typo
  2. Sounded to me a bit like another version of the classic note on a shop door - "back in 5 minutes" - starting when exactly?
  3. Have received information to say that current owner has advised someone that he has been in hospital recently plus their web designer has gone to Thailand for 5 months(!). This information is intended to explain recent lack of response to customer orders/queries, etc. The owner appears to have declared that Craftsman will be continuing in business. I do think it would be good if this is indeed the case but would perhaps suggest that a "wait and see" policy would probably be the best approach for the time being.
  4. That's not exclusive to the Web but, unfortunately (or not?), it is easier to uncover owing to the wondrous search engine technology.
  5. Possibly a pity that the web site and payment system hasn't also turned to ashes with it. It would save a lot of trouble for quite a few people..
  6. Best advice I can give is to reclaim your money via PayPal now. I tried to suggest to PayPal that they deregister this business as it seemed doubtful that they were still in business but did not receive any comment about that. It appeared that Craftsman, rather than PayPal, refunded the money as the "dispute" was cancelled rather than PayPal taking any action. I assume this means they must be reading emails (PayPal appears to use the same email for Dave Jones as the rest of us). Best advice now is the same as Scottish Modeller suggests and to see what you can find on Ebay, etc. Good luck. Sorry to see that Craftsman have gone this way.
  7. A new Zimo MX634D just went off with a spectacular flash and pop when fitted to my new Heljan railbus. Oh bother! (or similar words!)

Posted back to supplier today to determine if it was faulty or my own stupidity. (Probably the latter!).

  14. Dave I always enjoy ALL of your pictures but find myself frustrated that I can only press the "like" button once for pictures like those of the S&C and similar. Certainly 5 star rating from me. Thank you so much for taking the time and trouble to post all of your pics.
  15. As in all aspects of life there are a million (at least) different ways of sucessfully running any business. Just look at any of the model rail forums where there are at least that many opinions of how Bachmann and Hornby should be run! (There is, of course, a sizeable gap between opinion and achieving which is not bridged so frequently!) I have no problem at all with people wishing to run a small business with no desire to grow beyond a one person level and become "big time". When I was a partner in a business our aims were to make enough money to be comfortable, to establish a business that we could "hand on" or sell and to have some fun. We were lucky enough to accomplish all of those aims (most of the time anyway) and we eventually employed 13 people. That responsibility (and wear and tear!) is not everyone's cup of tea. How any one business achieves it's original aims in detail is entirely up to them (within legal constraints of course) and it almost certainly will not be the same as other similar ventures. However there are fundamental principles of running any size of business and one of them is to communicate your (and their) situation to your customers. Trust is needed. Trust is not gained when money disappears into a black hole with no indication of what is being done with it. Just make it clear, I do really hope that Craftsman survives and will be delighted to hear that deliveries are being made. If I hear that is happening then I will re-order the parts I want. Perhaps someone can post to say that deliveries are happening or, even better, Craftsman themselves can respond?
  16. Have just received a refund of my order money which was eventually paid by Craftsman after registering a claim of non-delivery on PayPal. That is after 6 weeks of no delivery or communication from Craftsman. However I still do not know if the company is still operating or not and if they would have eventually delivered. Just cannot understand this way of running a business (if they are).
  17. Correction. The address post code should actually be M22 9PE for 63 Honford Road according to Royal Mail postcode finder. I wrote about 3 weeks ago and did not receive any response. Not sure if that is because i used wrong post code now although I would have thought it should still have got there. After many attempts to contact them by letter, email and phone I have now applied for a refund owing to non delivered items.
  18. Think I got caught doing 70 by mobile speed check van on long straight country road yesterday while overtaking camper van.

Guilty I suppose but why a trap there when people frequently drive through my village at 60?

If a speed trap spent an hour or two in my village they could fund several bobbies on the beat from the revenue generated.

  21. I have now been waiting for any sort of communication against my order placed over one month ago when the money was taken via PayPal. I have tried phoning the later phone number given (no answer and no messaging possible), emailing on 3 occasions to the later email address (no response) and writing a (polite) letter (as per Horsetan's advice). Again, no response. I think I am now at the stage of reporting a "dispute" to PayPal to try to get my money back. Unless, of course, anyone can report recent deliveries from them or suggest a better way of resolving this situation?
  22. If it is in stock at a retailer then it's probably worth ordering immediately. If out of stock then the retailer will probably tell you that they do not know when they will receive further stock (see Howes Models web site). I would probably suggest that you watch this thread carefully in the next few days (weeks?) and wait to see if anyone who has already ordered directly on the Craftsman site do receive their goods. As myself and others are commenting, the money is taken but no acknowledgment is received or any indication as to whether goods are going to be supplied (even after a month or more). Emails and phone calls are not answered. Craftsman may well still be in business and delivering but it would be good to receive an indication of that.
  23. I'll be more careful how I phrase this post this time! Has anyone received the goods that they ordered or received any communication from Craftsman Models in the past two weeks please?
  24. Got excited today as I returned home and ther was a parcel for me that is about the size I would expect from Craftsman. I thought well, at least, I will now be able to write something positive on RM Web. In fact it was a book (railway of course) that I had forgotten I had ordered. Both pleased and disappointed. Oh well, now exactly two weeks since placing my order. (Probably not that long judging by other comments). Heard absolutely nothing. Sent polite email last week asking if the order was likely to be processed and asking if an approximate delivery might be indicated. Of course no response. Anyone have any positive news to report in last couple of weeks?
