  1. Ok thanks, I already turned the snapping functions off but it still does it a lot, or you try to move one and it magically turns into a curve deleting it. A right PITA! Plan is to make the track plan on both versions on my phone ready then can have a faff n think about what I want to do long term. Is it true that one made on the original won't import into the new? Surely turnout locations on the plan could be in the same position minus background photographs. Then all you'd need to do is add the straights n curves.....in my mind at least.
  2. So add two standard turnouts blade to blade on the interface? Could be a workaround, kind of defeats the object and looks crap though. Original version doesn't have this problem. ugh. lol.
  3. I'm trying to make the track plan on the new version on phone whilst I wait for the Z21 to arrive, got the dispatch email today that the order has been sorted so that's good, just got to hope the Smails arrive soon too. So like most people I'm finding it disgustingly difficult to make a track plan with Der Phynger Poken on a 'phone, it's horrible, jiggling around and automatically snapping to places where it's not wanted etc etc yadah yadah you've read it before from others. So battling on....how do you make a double slip actually have more than 2 positions and addresses because currently it doesn't...so although the graphic looks like a double slip, currently... it isn't!
  4. OK cool. Still seems a bit of a pain. Why remove features that made life quick n easy. Add features, don't remove. The new features they could have just added to the old app as new options in an update rather than creating this almost incompatibly new update, seems a pointless divide.
  5. Wee bit of help needed. Some of you may have seen me snooping about the DCC sections over the years to ask questions. Only exception here is I've finally ordered a Z21 and a bunch of Circuitron Smails, so once they arrive conversion finally starts. I have had both old and new Z21 applications downloaded on my 'phone for about a year to get a feel for them. Original version is the main selling point for me. Nice visuals, throttle easy to 'grab' at bottom, take a pic, overlay turnouts, give address, take pics of loco's. Tried it as a dummy in offline and all seems so easy. Then you get the new app. Non of that applies. WTF were they thinking? Other than the usual answer "They might not support the older app' so jump to the newer," can somebody please give me a really good genuine reason to submit to the newer version?? I'm straining to see any incentive. If not will start building with the old. Thanks in advance, in case.
  6. Nope, sounds like a stampede. I like the rumbling, railways are noisy. Have used various underlays many times, I find them often more trouble than its worth in most cases, warping and such like. Have always had more success with either wood underlay or non. If you want a ballast shoulder more needed but as most this layout is not in open country not bothered. Anyone got thoughts on the DCC Tortoises, the Smails?? They are available, damn expensive though. Not wanting to do servo's as don't really underatand them, just want quick n eaay instillation.
  7. To Meil....I indeed was thinking of 3D printing a plastic version of the mounting plate. To all...at the moment due to the shortage I'm abiding time. Currently have started track laying, have drilled holes for the points although not the double slips as the holes need to be in different places, they are not Bullhead, hoping for a direct lift n replace once Peco pull their finger out. I've decided that for now I'll concentrate on getting track layed, basic wiring then at least can operate points with Der Phynger Poken and dead froggies until a proper drive solution can be purchassed. DCC Tortoises/Snails? I must look into them, if I can buy them now and they will work similar then might do that instead. I've used analogue ones before no problem. Thanks for all your collective help. Much appreciated. :-) Here's two screen shots taken from a progress vid I need to edit. Can run around 6 teaks.
  8. Ok thanks. Any recommendation on hole size for the 4 screws? Baseboards are 90% done, could have started 4 or 5 months ago but lost mojo. I've got quite a beast to start.... Should keep me going a decade or 3. Knapford Junction is 1st. Middle section is last and to be modular, removable etc.
  9. That template looks to be a great help, thanks. With the mechanical linkage I could start that way, I might. I have an aversion to re-work although at the moment might be the best bet.
  10. I'd like to buy about 12 Cobalt Digital IPs soon (+ lots more later) and every online shop is sold out or offering ore-order. Pretty sure Covid crap is related but even if not, any ideas what to do? In two minds weather to go with slide switches and mechanical drive as it's cheap n quick but would like to use a Z21 system really. Am yet to convert to DCC but baseboards and track are ready and would like to start soon.
  11. Regarding the 4 recently uploaded wagons, I've ben talking in PM to Compound2632 who's very kindly spend considerable time unearthing some extra information. Based on that, with these two.... https://www.shapeways.com/product/PKHMJEJA7/4mm-mr-d305-3-plank-open?optionId=157552067&li=shops https://www.shapeways.com/product/N5QUSPGSZ/4mm-mr-d299-5-plank-open?optionId=157552069&li=shops I've added the following notes to the descriptions: Notes: These 4mm ones have been altered slightly from the initial CADs in that the number plates always appear on the right hand side as you observe the wagon. Some details had to be thickened slightly or left out entirely due to 3D printing tolerances and design choices of over-scale visibility when the commission was taking place. Also some of the inside bolts that would be countersunk have been made as protrusions so there is at least some representation of visibility, feel free to file them off. Normal concessions although feel free to view the CAD in the 3D viewer, top right of the images.

  13. Can print them directly sure, just I'm not 100% happy with how they turn out. They turn out generally good but all seem to insist on having a fine line through the planks that needs smoothing off. Isn't a major but is anoying. Feel free to email me for a print though.
  14. Eeugh. This came up in the design stage as we had a side and end drawing yet were lacking in many photographs showing the plates. I did as was asked after discussing this. Can change them if need be. What proofs could you show please.
  15. Created these four wagons a couple years ago for the S Scale Society. Finally decided to release them in 4mm. https://www.shapeways.com/product/EWLRFTBLU/4mm-gwr-10-ton-4-plank-open https://www.shapeways.com/product/DM93X23UY/4mm-gwr-diagram-04-5-plank-open https://www.shapeways.com/product/N5QUSPGSZ/4mm-mr-d299-5-plank-open https://www.shapeways.com/product/PKHMJEJA7/4mm-mr-d305-3-plank-open Regarding the 4 recently uploaded wagons, I've ben talking in PM to Compound2632 who's very kindly spend considerable time unearthing some extra information. 17. I did but kind of screwed up a quote and it looks like I posted within anothers' comment. No idea how that happened. :-/
  18. These are not North Light sheds though. The skylights are of equal angles throughout.
  19. Thanks Mike. The joins are print length issues yeah. The roof alone so far is over 40 hours of printing and quite a bit more to go. There will be a back wall, front is open with no doors. Unsure if there should be a side door for personel or not as it seems rather pointless. Thanks for the comment, always good to hear from you. :-)
  20. It's been a while since I last posted about it yet the hardest bit is out the way. Roof is crudely printed at 200 microns in PETG and needs some smoothing around the joins but I'm happy enough. Overall impression once done I'm sure will be passable. Wals are 3mm plasticard with thin brick plastic card overlays and 3D printed lintels n arches. Beed to add circular vents in the triangles and also roof vents. Roof needs more strutting, pillars, filler and other things. Pleased so far. Strictly speaking laser cutting would be much better for the project yet it is an area I'm yet to venture into so doing what I can for now. 21. I'm unsure what the point is as they can be picked up 2nd hand RTR plus a bunch of brass kits. What's your thought behind it?
  22. Kinda happy n chirpy with a 2nd. :-D Two prints at once or a failsafe if one fails. Also a slight electric save as I generally have the heater on to print at about 25C. Much more reliable that way.
  23. Caledonian 812 TENDERS now available in 4mm! Photon 3D Prints for bodies are £32 + postage, chassis Shapeways only (FUD/SFDP) & there are double pack offers for the whole sets too, bit pricey though. If this interests please share. For Photon orders email sparkshot082@gmail.com for everything else https://www.shapeways.com/shops/sparkshotcustomcreationsscc?section=4mm+Caledonian+Railways&s=0 Also the owner of TWO Anycubic Photon's now, much easier!
