  1. I agree with you John, I'd love to see this F5 project come off. I also want a J6. My logic in asking DJ Models to enquire about a survey for a G5 tank is Dave probably has the contacts to initiate a survey. If the survey for the F5 tank is successful and means extra funding for the working prototype, I can't imagine the G5 loco society would reject the idea of a survey for an OO scale model. Best of both worlds for us rail modellers a G5 and F5 tank in both model and working prototype form, partly funded by us.
  2. Dave, I completed the survey, definately a loco I'd like to see produced. Sorry if someone else has already mentioned this, is it worth approaching the Class G5 Locomotive Company and doing a similiar survey for the Class G5 0-4-4T? Excuse my ignorance but has the O2 tank your currently producing for Kernow got a similiar chassis? Putting you in a good position to commission one of these as well. It would be another nice looking tank engine, highly sought after and start filling the NER gaps. Just a thought. Regards Paul.

    Hornby K1

That post on Facebook was very misleading, I too thought that all 3 models would be released. Looks like I was one of the lucky ones as my order is now on its way from Hattons, however due to me moving house next week had to quickly arrange for a different delivery date as I wasnt expecting any until Feb/Mar, if I was not on RMweb it could have meant my order being delivered to my old address. It does look like there will be another batch next year though.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Grahame, Unless my eyes decieve me Im pretty sure the CAD includes a vent above each window which means its one of the initial batch, so before D6123 meaning its a Class21. My point is why should it come down to us speculating on what variant they are doing when a simple answer could be given by Dapol to clear this confusion up. Thanks for the photo.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Your totally correct, the CAD is of the initial batch of around 20, as the CAD even has the small vents just above the windows, which the latter batches didnt have. I was hoping that Dapol could clarify the identities of the locos to match the CADs so people could at least know what were ordering, as it stands you cant really pre-order them as there is to much of a conflict of information.

    Dapol Class 21/29

I E-mailed Dapol with a question 4 weeks ago asking for clarification in regards to their CAD image is that of the pilot scheme Clas 21 variant, however the product description still says 4 Class 29 variants. They havent replied, which seems to be a common theme. Does anyone know what is actually going on with these, as its probably a deciding factor for some people on if to purchase or not. Thanks Paul

    Dapol Class 21/29

Just on the off chance had a look at Dapols website, the class 21/29 is shown as final cad and due 3rd quarter 2015. It in the product development area, the cad is of the class 21 variant with disc headcodes. Some physical progress at last.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Has anyone heard any progress on these, last we heard was in June and that they were following the Class 73 in the production run, surely the CADs have been completed. Cant believe it was Nov 2010 that Dapol announced these, coming up 4 years and nothing yet.

    Ask Dave

Thanks Dave, It does indeed help cheers. Im lucky to be in a position where I have pre-ordered 2 x Q6, a Hudswell Clarke and a J94 as one order from KernowMRC and wanted to be sure doing it as one order meant all 4 items would be accounted for in your production run. Thanks Again Paul

    Ask Dave

Dave, Do you get weekly/monthly feedback from your retailers to inform you of the numbers of pre-orders they have taken? Is this feedback used in addition to the 'express your interest' section on your website giving you a more accurate idea of the amount of product you need to manufacture? Cheers Paul
  11. To me the blacks, greens and umber (E4), on all the latest photos look washed out, so is probably more of a photo/camera issue its too much of a coincidence to be anything but.

    Bachmann E4

Just noticed the painted samples on the Bachmann site, they do look good, I dont think I can justify one around the March or Cambridge area though.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Its good to see some sort of date put on this release, however 6 months to produce the CADs, engineering samples, decoration samples then production seems very optimistic to me. I would of estimated at least a year away. Fingers crossed though.
  14. Thanks for the info Grahame, the O2s are my favourite freight locomotive so have 2 of the O2/4s on order, and in preperation for their arrival have just ordered the limited edition Hattons weathered O4. Im especially looking forward for the O2/2 version though. Have Hattons guessed at the model numbers for the O2/2 version? I dont know if to preorder or not.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Has the catalogue got some information on the class 21/29, what stage are they at? Which variant will be produced first? Anybody asked at Ally Pally? Cheers

    Dapol Class 21/29

I didnt want to steal his thunder but I spoke DJM Dave a couple of months back, he will not be taking on the project at present. Dapol still have the drawings that he acquired but no work was started on them by the time he had left. My personal opinion is that Dapol just bite the bullet and cancel these allowing Heljan or DJM take it on as I just cant see them progressing with it.
  17. Dave, Put me down for a couple of quad art sets, I know the answer but I still reckon your the best person to manage the Class 21 project, I can't see Dapol proceeding with these. The quad arts would also look good sat behind a 21. Others for me: J6 A5 Coke Hoppers Cheers

    Heljan Class 16

Its my understanding that they will now be starting with the class 21, this being due to not having any previous plans/drawings, which they are now in possession of. The drawings notdapoldave recieved from a fellow rmweber were that of the original build class 21's, Dave did say they would work with the Class 21 first as they now have more information and would not have to reverse engineer anything. They would certainly be on my shopping list as Class 16's and 21's would have worked along side each other at Ripple Lane, Stratford etc

    Heljan Class 16

Ive seen photos of them double headed to a Class 15, they were hauling a mixed freight train, which included Covhops (future replication on the layout I think). Got mine yesterday too, D8409 in Gloss, what a fantastic model.

    Heljan Class 16

I had the same e-mail as Bernard regarding my order for a plain green one, it stated that they expected them "today", that was Wednesday and would soon be charging my card - seems there must be some crossed wires between Heljan and Hattons as I havent heard anything since Wednesday.

    Heljan Class 16

I pm'd Brushveteren the other day, dont want steal his thunder, but he did say the 16's are on the slow boat. The Baby Deltics have been approved for paint and production, the 26/0's have been tooled and are currently undergoing some corrections.
  22. Not being an 05 expert I can only assume its the early variant due to one of the models being in br black with an early 111xx running number.
  23. Available for pre order at Hattons £130, just search tango, got mine in. 5 variants. O2/2
  24. These and the early version of the class 26's are now available to preorder on Hattons, however they are listed as O gauge locos, for £80 they would be a bargain. I have informed Hattons of the error. Looks like they are doing the early version of the 05 with 4 variants starting in BR black. The class 26 has 6 variants.

    Dapol Class 21/29

Nice one cheers for the update Dave, good to see the project can now advance.
