Thank you for the list, Dave - and as an aside, the new website looks nice.
Will the fGW TSO/TFO have different coach letters to last time? I have a 'G' and three 'D's so far, all with different running numbers!
It is a shame that there won't be a TRFB, but even so, with a TGS in due course my four year old will at least stop telling me our HST is too short!
Agreed, thanks for the list Dave, it does clear a few issues up seeing as some retailers sites still seem a tad ambiguous.
Looking at the list I see no blue/grey buffet with an E prefix to match the E prefixed 1st's & 2nd's, is this the indeed case or will it come at a later date.
No big deal, but dont want to renumber if I dont have too.

Thanks for the detailed explanation Tom, most of which I was aware of on the real life item.
My point is that as far as I recall, Dapol will only be producing a single catering vehicle.
Obviously for the HST this will be without buffers and with buffers for the loco hauled, so two catalog numbers per livery ?
Hattons show three catalog numbers for the blue grey, one with buffers, one without, and one with no comment that is £2 dearer as well.
I think you are correct and maybe Dave can enlighten us. I suspect Paddy is correct in that Hattons are getting confused with Dapols renumbering exercise.

Preorders for the various buffet coaches have started at a well known Liverpool retailer.

So, can anyone enlighten me as to what the difference is between these two please, other than the second one being £2 dearer and having no comment as to if it is with or without buffers ?

It cannot be as simple as NC216A having buffers, as that is covered by

Lightly magnetised screwdriver Jeff ;-)Thanks for that, Scott. Richard Johnson seems to be looking at the hobby from all angles. I'll not be fitting signals for a considerable time, so whatever he comes up with could well be relevant.
Since you seem to communicate with him on a regular basis, could you suggest something? The Cobalt motor package is an excellent little product - I now have 30 of them. But one thing about it really irks me! With my chubby fingers, fitting the tiny self-tapping screw that holds the actuator wire in place is a real pain. Surely there has to be a better design than at present?

Hi Gary
Great to see an update, and 027 looks great.
>>>The one I picked was 37027, Loch Eil, this was one of the first to receive the Eastfeild treatment and just fits in to the time base of the layout.
Done for the St Rollox open day IIRC back in 1981(ish) and origianlly looking like this

I think it was early (April time) 1985 that it got the "standard" large logo treatment.
Keep the updates coming, and congrats on a top quality layout.

Hi Claggy
Fort William used to keep a class 20 around as a “supper shunterâ€. They liked having such a loco as they could use for tripping, rescues and a replacement for the 37s. They did work the Mallaig trains occasionally, although I never came across one. Fort William favourites were 20148 and 20048 complete with snow ploughs, and think, steam heat through pipe. ( i will check on that, next sunday, its parked in front of 50007 at Butterley)
I should have some of the QS-FW diagrams, at home, I will have a look later.
Gary
Neither 148 or 048, so 097 will have to do !!!
20097 about to shunt the sleeper ecs and Ethel onto the arrival from Mallaig, 19 July 1985.
Keep the gen coming ;-)

Hi Mark,
All looking good.
Not so sure about having the transformer with 240v mains attached to the board though.
Would be more inclined to build a box around it and have as freestanding with only the low voltage wires running to the board itself.
Just food for thought, no point in risking anything on the board becoming live with mains after all, no matter how small the risk ;-)
Keep up the good work

I would agree with that Peter, and I am sure that Jeff would certainly be better off using a Class 40 or 45, as I am sure he said he will be running these than, rather than a Mk1. They would certainly be a lot closer to a Mk3 as well.
