  1.

I know the guy selling this model. He is a VERY good modeller and he may have even mastered his own kits.

    Tony

Hi is this wagon model from a Southern based EMU layout that was in Model Rail some years ago "I can't recall the layout name properly" but the layout I remember was something relating to Sheppey or the Isle of Dogs.

  2. Anyone that knows Abergele will also know it is nicknamed after a certain garage whose posters adorned almost every bus from Crosville to Arriva. Having bought out every garage in Abergele and closed the petrol forecourts, it shut its own down last Friday. Aren't monopolies wonderful...

Hi Coachman, is that Slaters by any chance ?

  3. Ladies and Gentlemen, we run a Family owned Garage Business, of which one part is a Petrol forecourt, we get our fuel from one the Big four fuel suppliers, and lets say this game is not the best one to be in at the moment, but fuel is a need that gets customers into our site.

Now we have had a tanker delivery today, of which it was made up of 18,000 litres of Petrol and 18,000 litres of Derv, and if I tell you that the invoice for this amount is £41094.00 + VAT, and we will make approx £1008.00 profit, which will then be subject to 20% VAT, you wonder why Independent Garage retailers have packed up and sold the land or used the property for other purposes, in truth it is sickening.

I'm not to sure how many people understand how much of a litre of fuel the Goverment make, so here is a breakdown on yesterdays average prices.

The average pump price of petrol in the UK yesterday was 134.8 pence per litre, fuel duty prior to the pump sale is almost 58 pence per litre, then the sale of 134.8 pence is subject to 20% VAT, this is 22.5 pence, so on every litre you are buying at 134.8 pence, the Goverment has 80.5 pence.

Tthe Garage retailer themselves make between on average 2 - 3 pence per litre depending on the price at purchase, the rest is the supplying Oil Company.

  4. Ah but it's our Mr Gostude with his antique toy shop again! But judging by his sales (11000+) there must be people out there prepared to pay his ludicrous prices for stuff quite often available at much cheaper prices elsewhere. How you can have an 'unopened' non-existant box?:P Ebay 'fixed' classifications don't help of course. When ever I sell on there I always reflect this in the description if appropriate in any sales.

Oh excellent I have looked through his shop and goody goody gum drops he still has in stock the Kit Built Lima 117 Trans Clyde unit at the bargain price of £74.50 plus £9.00 p+p, I can't believe that this still hasn't been snapped up in the 12 months or so that it has been listed, I can't wait for pay day !!!!!!!!!!!!!!wacko.gif

  5. seems a bit expensive and doesn't have a top which is the bit i'd need most

thanks anyway, has given me an idea of construction and now i have to convince my carpenter to build me one!!

Hi I bought some 6x2' boards from this ebay supplier, but I rang him direct and spoke to Steve, he sent sent me 3 x board frames, 3 x board tops and delivery at a fantastic price as I dealt with him directly, and we cut ebay out of the loop, and he was so trustworthy, that he sent me the stuff, and asked me to send him a cheque in return !!!

It may seem expensive at first glance, but once you get some prices for timber, and fixings, and then your time it all adds up, just going off Steve's 6x4' board price of £75.99 + P+P, and top, ring him and it will definitely be cheaper, it goes together quickly and sturdily and square, and if you equate your time into £££'s / hour labour you may find its worth it.

I have no ties with this company, I am just a very satisfied customer.

    Best regards

    Craig.

  6. I asked the seller. It is an O gauge Swedish mustard hopper, from a Lima flat bed wagon sold as a spare part, or a scenic item.

    Now I know.

Do they do a long wheelbase bogie hopper to carry your schnitzels in just behind the loco, and then this allows you to dip them in the mustard hopper attached to the rear of the train ?

  7.

    WHAT?????? blink.gif

After Why ? and What? the next question is Who? Bid history shows 9 bids, and there were 3 bidders over £50, and the final bid had been placed several days before the item closed. No evidence of funny bidding. Desperate or (again) What?

Theres to many "of these people" walking around in normal society these days..... Jeez they must have stopped taking their medication, this is what happens when we leave these poor vulnerable souls to look after themselves.

You can buy 4 of the new ones from Bachmann at Hattons for £58.00 "plus postage of course"

  9. Hi Bob, I run the original release of Prodigy and SVDA usually means there is a problem with something short out the track power and this should be kill off the power almost immediately.

Is your Friend using the earlier Hornby chips in his locos, as this mixture of Prodigy and earlier Hornby chips leads to the "run away" loco sympton, and you cannot stop the loco whatsoever with the stop button.

I would try another loco on the system just to check out the chips, before pointing the problem at the Prodigy.

    Best regards

    Craig.

  10. Do serious collectors actually collect things in BR blue - surely one of the low eras in British railway design? Building a layout set in that era because the operations were interesting is one thing, but rows of blue thingies on yer shelf? Crikey.

hey cheeky !!! Grey as well, not just Blue, oh and some yellow thrown in for warning tongue.gif

  11. Thanks for the info Gents, II shall endeavour to make time to visit, the reason I ask is it worth it, is because I have gone to places in the past, then took time out to visit certain model shops only to be very disappointed with the stock levels held by the shop.

Rails was a prime example, I was in Sheffield, found the shop but I could not believe how poor the stock levels were at the time, it was a good job it was not a special journey just the shop alone, obviously Rails are more into the Mail order side.
