  1. Tis true we need more members. Warley was a real struggle with only 3 of us. I've not mentioned to the team that one of the invites we recieved over the weekend was for both the layouts at the same show!!
  2. Oh don't worry; our layouts have smells - just not the right ones.
  3. Brush Type two's? They were my earliest memories of railways, rail blue examples shunting coal/ grain on the crossing at Louth, which at that point was a freight only branch from Grimsby - a far Cry from the GNR Grimbsy/ Peterborough/ London main line it once was. That said its the other type two's that really do it for me. One of the concepts that is kicking around for a future layout in 'O' gauge is "Mc Rats on the Clyde" which yes, would be full of sulzer type two's, and it would be based on half of Motherwell shed in Green/Blue era...... Lot's of old ex steam buildings with smelly diesels. I'm sure its been done before
  4. You've used the word secret??? Dirty hydraulics - oooo yes - all those wonderful sounds Perhaps some corporate sponsorship? Hey Andy?
  5. Cheers for that. Shame there wasn't the occasional Deltic visit down there! At least I don't think there was.....
  6. Had a fantastic weekend Sorry for not hearing your 'hello' Next time just throw something at us
  7. Thanks Monty. We won't be there next year so you may not need the two days - ha ha. We'll be there the year after with Johns ' Once Upon a Time in The West' 1919 New Mexico layout.
  8. What a fabulous weekend!!!! Thank you all for your kind comments both on this web-thingy and at the show. I feel a real buzz today - I'm on a real high - Has anyone got anyone got any photo's they fancy posting? - as usual we didn't have any time to take any in between, beer, pies and lots of yapping.......
  9. Just remembered, I need to pick you pair up at Tamworth. Now where did I hire that van from??
  10. Oh dear. I've only ordered a High Top Transit I'm now thinking I need a 7.5 tonner!! I knew I shouldnt have rushed into this. ha ha ha
  11. Hope you can make it, please say hello. I agree Uckfield is a cracking show, we took TG there a few years ago and were impressed by the consistant high quality of all the layouts.
  12. New recruits for Warley are; 37 413, 37 521 and 09012. Yes yes I know - an 09? Then plan for the 09 is de-pipe it into an 08 at some point..
  13. Thanks for the compliment - especially since its such a poor picture. All of the 37's were resprayed by Jon Gavin at Peak-Dale works. He's made an excellent job, I'm very pleased with them. Just in the process of re-wheeling and chiping 521, a flush fronted machine. Jon used a Rail Express limited edition for the basis of this one because of its flush fronted nose.
  14. Progress today.... 413 now has EM Gibson wheels, a ZIMO 644 chip and a bass reflex speaker. Seen here on test. 521 next.
  15. I've made progress this weekend, one day on the layout - the other down the Great Central Railway with father as he was taking part in a footplate experience course. The display boards are painted now to match the rest of the layout. We just need to finalise the display - Pirelli calander anyone? Here's a couple of shots at the GCR - the garage is too dark for any layout/ display board shots. I've just received some more wheels from Alan Gibson although judging by this photo perhaps i've not bought enough. Network Rail yellow 37 195 is still around, pictured here at Loughborough. This next weekend is that last weekend for Jobs before Warley as we are out with one of our other layouts Treneglos the weekend before at Spalding exhibition. I've left all the jobs I hate till last; namely re-wheeling, fitting chips and fitting buffer beam detail.
  16. By the way I can't believe you've found one of those animated yellow thingies that f*rts and then wafts it away! Very special!!
  17. Ah ha, fear not. Warley show is in a big hall. You will not have to endure any high pressure, confined space situations!!
  18. That'll make a change, there's not normally a queue of people waiting to sample the aroma from the back of the layout!!!
