  1. Thanks Spitfire, Yea the levers are sanders, Early wagons do look a bit odd, That brake wheel looks odd to me,But i guess they were leaning as it had not been done before, More pictures very shortly as i am hoping to get paint on soon,Then i can put on a lot more bits that i have already finished
  2. Some more pictures of my wagon,I was hoping it would be finished by know,But it is a lot more work than i thought it would be,
  3. I am pretty sure that the 4 rivets you have put on,are on the other side only, I have a works drawing here, and the 4 rivets are to hold the float mechanism that is on the inside, and that is on the left side ( left side as standing on the tender footplate looking back ) The same side as the water indicator is on, The side you have done is all smooth, Hope this is Helpful. Garry
  4. I am building Linda in 3.1/2 inch gauge as she was originally built, I need some info on the box under the cab,it is only on this side, Does anyone know what it was used for,or a better photo of it,or if it was on it originally, Thankyou
  5. I have to say, I do like those Pacifics, I am a GWR man,And know nothing about the Late and Never Early stuff, but Those pacifics with the cylinders behind the bogie have got me wanting one,Infact I did buy 2 Bachmann A2S,just because i liked the look of them on Tony railway,Now i am after an A2/2,most attractive ,Must find a reason why they ran into Cheltenham Malvern road thou, Must admit I did not know what these locos were untill i started reading this page so im learning quite a lot on these fine looking locomotives
  6. Good luck Andrew, For me, keep it similar to what it is now,That is, a lot of locos and Traction engines and similar, Thats what the model engineer had years ago then they lost the way,A lot of model engineers went to E,I,M ,and it is still the better magazine today
  7. Thankyou Guys most helpful,I shall give then a ring on monday, Thankyou
  8. If i required some spares for a loco, Say,, a motor or a wheel would i be able to get these from Bachmann ,or do they not like selling spares, I know petes spares do spares,But not the spares i need, Thankyou
  9. Hi,I need some oo gauge permanent way figures about 1930s 40s period, I know Dart castings does some, Can anyone recommend some others,as i can not find any, Thankyou
  10. Thankyou Both, Most useful Garry
  11. Hi all, I have been building a Gauge one Midland compound on and off for years, So recently i have been doing a lot of work on it,To get it finished,(another project done) So whilst looking at pictures of these locos ,I see they had the reversing lever either on the left or right hand side, I can not find any thing on this,So can someone tell me why they were different ,This will help me choosing a number, Thankyou Garry
  12. Thankyou for that ,Much appreciated ,I thought it could go together,But i was doubting my self as it was not in the instuctions,But the volts and outputs are the same, So im buying it,and yes i do not like the sound of an uncased transformer either, Thankyou Garry
  13. Hi All, I have just bought a Gauge master walkabout controller ,The instructions say i need an independent transformer to use with it,now i have looked at the gaugemaster website, and they have two transformers that will go with it ,one is cased and one is uncased, These are expensive ,But i see also on the website they have a plug in tranformer W M 1, This looks to me to be just the job,Can anyone say for sure before i buy it, Thankyou Garry
  14. Ah ,My Favourite engine,I have rebuilt 2 rover v 8 engines in the past, dead simple to work on,and the sound, with that chassis, its gonna go like stink,,I ride bikes so i do not hang around,But a few years ago ,My mate took me out in his kit car,Went around a roundabout faster than my bike,or felt like it it did, stuck to the road like glue, Nice work, roll on summer
  15. Oh No,These models are lovely, Can not start another gauge, Got voices in my head now,Why did i look at the pictures,
  16. Might have to go to North wales, and have a closer look at them
  17. Also I have noticed on the Hunslet Ladies,All the tap Handles are at the top,But it is only the Trumpet bit that is at Different angles,Have a look at the two photos on this page, So the Trumpet bit might be rotatable to stop dirt getting in,Just a thought.
  18. Yea,Good point bud,Certainly stop grit and soot getting in,May explain why all the taps on the pictures are not in the same place.
  19. Thanks Guys here is one the other way up,And as Ray says the ladies always had drain cocks so im ruling that out,I thought they may have have them added later, and the brass taps (cups) were an early drain cock ,but looking at the net for ages tells me that they were at every angle ,but mostly upward,so im going for lubrication ,Thanks for the imput
  20. Thankyou for the replies, much appreciated,Mine will be in original as built, and after reading some answers above i tend to agree with the oil answer,As the early shots i have seen show this tap upward with the trumpet bit up,and as i said already fitted with drain cocks ,so i am happy it was used for this, and that is the way i will fit them, Thankyou, These locos today are nothing like they were when built,I am pretty sure that linda has a completely different boiler than what she originally had,the safety valves are on the dome as well,The cabs are wrong and they have tenders, and they have had the reversing levers put on the other side,These are just a few things,So a visit to wales will not help me im afraid .
  21. Hi all, I am building Linda in 3 1/2 inch gauge, Please can someone tell me what the brass taps are for,The ones on the cylinder covers, They are not drain cocks as the loco has these on the cylinder bottoms, and i have seen these taps facing up or down,I have not seen them on other narrow gauge locos ,only these 3 ,So i am hoping some one on here knows the answer, Does any one know if these locos had the bottom drain cocks on the cylinder bottoms when working new at penrhyn quarry,or were they added later ,that may answer the question, Thankyou Garry
  22. Oh and i have just watched the you tube clips, very nice, I Guarantee you that you will not hear that clicking once it is on the track, Nice work
  23. I have had the same ,so your not alone,I have stripped an engine for painting,All the main frame work kept together,Once all put back together a tight spot appears that was not there before, and as you say very hard to locate and most annoying, But as you say it does run in,Nice work keep the photos coming , Garry
  24. Thanks Orion, That also shows a wall with no recess,as i suspected, But some photos do show a recess,I may make it straight unless i can find evidence of it otherwise, Your last later map, Also shows a point into the siding, that one is not on my later 1960 map, Thanks for the info, every bit helps, Ill put some photos on soon.
  25. I am pretty sure it was there in broad gauge days,I have a good picture of the original engine shed, and that shows the wall in the background,,
