  1. Can anyone help with this, I am building LINDA in original Penrhyn condition, The paint on Charles looks a little blueish and not completely black, So does anyone know if they are just black when built, or can anyone point me to some info on this, I am struggling to find anything on the paint colours of the lining as well. Thankyou Garry
  2. I really like the rusty rails on the siding,on the above picture, All very realistic.
  3. Thankyou for that Gents, That makes sense as i have seen the large dia pipe, (exhaust inj) on some ,so maybe it was removed on others , I understand now, so ill have to find a good picture of the one that im doing, Thankyou
  4. I am building a gauge one model of a 9 f, I have just bought some castings for the injector pipework, So whist looking at pictures of the full size loco, I have noticed that some locos have a big large diameter pipe amongst the injector pipework and some have not this large pipe, so can i ask does anyone know what this pipe is and why have some got it and some not,, I have looked at 9 fs for ages on the web, and can not get the answer. Thankyou Garry
  5. This is a good gasket sealer Pete, I use it on my cylinders, As it is no paper gasket, Loctite 5926
  6. Dont answer that, I have just read your post on the Model engineering page
  7. Nice, is it scratch built, or are parts available in this gauge.
  8. And i can tell you that railway ballast is really ,really hard to shovel, Superb modelling.
  9. No pictures showing on here at my end Pete, I have seen them on M,E,C,H. thou, i dont comment on that as i do not log in, just read whats new, Nice work.
  10. Pete, I have lined some of my models in the past, I have used expensive and cheap, ish bow lining pens,I have had good and bad results with both, What i did learn from it ,is thst the tips have to be true to each other and must be smooth, An old draughtsman told me that he honed his every time he used it, So get a middle of the range one and experiment with it,You tube has some videos on how to do the tips, Hope this helps a little , As i bought a good one (HAFF) and it was no better than the one i had, untill the tips were done.
  11. - behind 2467 at Weymouth Look at the size of those coal lumps, If you put lumps of that size on a model it would look wrong, but its not, And the poor fireman has to break it first.
  12. Hi Phil. Thanks it is getting there slowly,Lots of trees and stuff to go on yet,to get the correct atmosphere , As for the points yes Thankyou i will cut them off,I did think about that when i laid them, but thought they might affect the working, So i will do that in the morning. It has also got loads of point rodding to go on ,and it is not going to be easy leaning over the layout, but i worry about that when i do it.
  13. some more work done,Signal box has taken ages to get this far, and a lot of trees and fences to go on next.
  14. Thanks Giles, I usually build 5 inch gauge,Standard gauge locos,And as im getting older i decided not to build anymore as they are getting harder to move around,But after a holiday in wales,I was quite hooked on the narrow gauge,Then after a lot of reading im quite hooked on the Penrhyn railway ,So that is how LINDA came about,It is also getting a lot more heavier than some of my 5 inch tank locos, and im also a lot older than when i started to build it,So it will be raised track not ground level. Much better for my back.
  15. No Problem owd Bob, My Loco thou is as originally built, So the cab shape is different and mine will have no tender and no pony truck, And not green,
  16. Lots more done, I have done most of the motion parts last year, So looks like i have done more than i have, but mostly just trial fitting, I am finishing the cylinders at the moment. It is also getting Heavy.
  17. I have used this on my Manor tender, I riveted it all together but did not want to solder it as i have had one in the past twist when i put heat on it, and could not get it back . So i sealed this Tender with pet seal, Look at e bay, You have to make sure that you run it around into all the corners etc and it gets very hot before it cures so wear gloves, It works a treat it sealed it all and is still working, I would recommend it and use it again.
  18. Nice, Im not happy as my Bachmann A1 will not pull my Bachmann mk1s 8 is the limit, Ill have to weight it i think.
  19. 13 coaches on that steam loco, Wish my R T R locos would pull that,
  20. I have seen this lever on some of my early loco mswjr loco drawings, I am not sure what it operates, But i do know that is it worked by a cable that runs throu the hand rail and into the cab, The only thing it can operate is a blower or the blastpipe (angle or size ) or may be lubrication, Ill dig my drgs out and have a look tomorrow.
  21. Please can anyone direct me to a thread on here about painting engineering brick, I have a lot to do ,and so far mine look crap, I am not happy at all with the colour, Any thing on this will help. Thankyou Garry
