  1. Hi All, I have been asked By my friends widow to finish off his o gauge model LNER P2 , It is stunning, Thankfully only the tender needs building, I have no idea about anything LNER, I need some info l please, What tender did they have when built 1934ish, Was it a streamlined non corridor type or a 4200 gallon standard type, all i know is it has 8 wheels, Also can anyone recommend any books or drawings of the loco, Thankyou Much Appreciated. Garry
  2. Well that was quick, Many Thanks, I have studied this picture for hours, And i never noticed that ladder, Looks obvious now,So thanks, I am sure i will have some more questions later.
  3. Can some one help with this please, I am building this real location, I need to know what that post on the Left is, And if you look at the signal on the right, You can see another signal just in front of it ,facing it, looks like a home arm,Would you say that this one is in front of the signal on a separate post or on the signal it self, Any advise welcome. Thankyou.
  4. Yes ,Agree with above a very good show this year, I am not into diesels ,modern image , but MOSTYN was stunning, I spent ages at this layout very impressed.
  5. A BIG Thankyou to Hornby, I had a West country loco with broken valve gear, A screw worked loose on a wheel and in turn bent the rods, Hornby told me to send it back to them, And returned it to me a few days later with a New chassis and a detail pack, All free of charge, I was willing to pay and i did expect them not to repair it as i weathered the loco my self, So very good service Many Thanks to them.
  6. Nice, And heavy, Drooling over the Britten as well,
  7. Hi Guys, A little update, I contacted Hornby ,and as i said ,They have no spares, But gave me a list of Supplies who have Honby spares, So i e mailed all of those, and all got back to me,And said That part is not Available, I was a bit miffed by that, So i contacted Hornby again, and had a moan, Hornby then got back to me and told me to send it back to them and they will repair it for me,So at the moment all is well.Ill let you know what happens.
  8. Hi All, I need a Hornby west country, battle of britain, valve gear , The part is X9680, It is the cross head and slide valves all in one unit, If anybody has one i will gladly buy it as Hornby has none spare. Thankyou Garry
  9. Hi Mike84c, Thankyou for the info, I shall look into it, when i have some spare time, The bit on the wall has a threaded bar just like a telegraph pole insulator, but bigger,So what ever it was it screwed on to it,but needed to be under cover, so yes could well be a bell or early speaker of some sort, if i find out ill keep you informed.
  10. Thanks Guys, I may look at sending it to Hornby for repair, I am just hoping at the moment that the part ( as daddyman says ) May come back into stock, E bay has one but they want 40 pound for it, And thats not happening.
  11. Hi Guys mine is the latest west country Trevone, The valve gear looks the same as a slightly older one that i have, and the valve gear has a part number and is listed , but not available, every other place that sells Hornby spares list it as out of stock as well, So must be a popular part, Here is a picture, the crosshead is broken ,so will not attach to the slide bars,
  12. I will ask my local model shop if they have anything, but after checking the web im not hopefull Thanks MJI, Thanks Butler Henderson i have the part number, but knowone seems to have the part, And yes thankyou Graham 1960 i will take a photo of it tomorrow and put it here . Thanks all
  13. Bad luck Yea i know really not Happy as i have not run this loco much,Hornby have not got this part available ,not yet any way, I may have to try and make it, using some parts from kits, Ill see whats out there.
  14. Nice work Dave, Have a look at the bottom of rm web, There is a model engineering page with 5 inch gauge in it, might get more views there, Garry
  15. Thankyou for the replies, much Appreciated, Hornby have not got the parts, The loco is quite new, A screw came out of the wheel and jammed the motion and broke the cross head that runs in the slidebars, They do spares for the earlier re built Bulleid pacifics but not this one yet, so im stuck at the moment, not Happy.
  16. Thanyou, Ill give them a try, I actually never thought of going direct to them . Thanks
  17. Hi All Where is the best place to get Hornby spares from please, My west country decided to mangle its motion, so not happy. I know of peters spares is this the only place to try, Thankyou Garry
  18. I have found out since thou, The wall behind this box was part of the box, If you look at the wall now, you can see some white wash still visible , This was the locker room,I thought the box was set into the wall,As i have built it, This evidence come to light when i almost finished it, so it is staying as is.
  19. Small update, I have done a little work on this, Waiting to stock up at the Bristol show on signal and point rodding, I have almost finished the signal box, just some work to do on the steps and its finished, Go the plate today from NARROW PLANET , very happy with it ,and a good price too, so will be using them again,
  20. Yes it looks superb, I have to do mine soon, And if it looks half as good as this ill be happy.
  21. Dont worry Pete, we all have had similar,Some drgs are real naff. On mine to day i decided to fit the finished eccentric rods to the links, All built to the drawings before hand,The last bit before testing on air,Well the links were 1/4 wide and the eccentric forks were 5/16 wide, not happy, more extra work now, guess i should of cross checked ,but took the drgs to be correct. Keep the pictures coming , your not hanging about.
  22. Thank Appreciated. I must post some more pictures soon as i have done a lot more, The drawings i have used are from Blackgates engineering, I think it is their own design, (CHARLES) but they have a lot of errors, Use them as a guide only and detail up to good pictures .
  23. If you could hide or put something in the mouth of the bridge it would be perfect, especially in the black and white shot, Best one on here for a while.
