Ships that pass in the night...

Just seen one of the heritage liveried HSTs in Swindon. For a moment I thought I had gone back in time!
-
It's bloody hot. Forecast is a ton in the old scale. 38 according to the Swede. I'm dreading the next couple of nights without AC.
-
is looking forward to watching "Saddam Goes To Hollywood" on Channel 4. Apparently it's got Oliver Reed in it! :-D

Just found this on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/pinkwalkern/8233952269. Quite a photo.

Another one bites the dust; Govesagonner.

To the Welsh football team.......who's laughing now !

Now getting seriously tempted to order a late crest Q6, even though it's slightly off region. Must be all them years spent in Saudi Shields.
-
The next irritating expression that I will be banning by Special Decree is the phrase to 'rock up', as in meaning 'to arrive somewhere'.

If I had things my own way, there would be no cats in this house. I really despise the two we have at the moment!

DPD have "delivered" a parcel to a "neighbour" who isn't my neighbour and I've no idea of the location of the photo taken. No card either. Brilliant.
-
Finally got my parcel yesterday afternoon by spending a couple of hours comparing the image they'd sent me of my "neighbours" door with those doors on houses with similar sounding street names - finally found it after much frustration and marched off to collect. No thanks whatsoever to DPD who have not been in contact since I raised the initial issue.

After waiting 10 minutes I managed to get through to the call centre which thankfully wasn't somewhere on the subcontinent. The girl on the line just couldn't get to grips with what I was telling her, now they cant get hold of the driver for some reason to find out where he actually left the parcel, if he even remembers. Tomorrow they say.....

Turn right outside the station, under the railway bridge. Turn left into a cinder path running parallel to the railway. The entrance to this path is between a block of houses and the railway. Continue along this path and cross the road at the end. Another cinder path leads from the opposite side of this road to the shed. Walking time 15 minutes

Is finding it hard to resist those copper top western region machines.

Off to Thurso today, first time on the North Road since (I think) 1988. No doubt one or two changes...

Ah well, hopes of some real Scottish prototypes dashed again. Always next year I suppose, although I've lost count of how many years I've been saying that.

Plenty? Life is easy for the D&E modeller as the number of classes is small and many types saw service UK wide. If you want to model the ScR pre 1967 then you need pre grouping types, J38's, K4's etc. None of which are available, nor are they likely to be. It's worth pointing out that the last working BR (Sc) steam loco in 1967 was an NBR J36!

I am completely and utterly baffled by everything

More garbage from head office: we've just had a rebuke for not referring to staff as either "colleagues" or in the numbers sense as "headcount". I often wonder if this kind of thing is something our underemployed and overstaffed desk jockeys dream up to bolster their Linkedin achievements/lies section.
-
Tim, it would seem not. Despite being on a supposed efficiency drive some staff are obviously underemployed enough to spend time coming up with nonsense like this! Maybe they think it makes them more efficient?! I suspect it spreads like a virus; one delusional individual in management comes up with it to appear fresh and original, then it spreads from company to company.
