  1. Hi all, I have just managed to track down a Tintagel Castle however it is suffering from the milky marks in the paintwork that I know isn't unusual for this model. Has anybody out there found a way of either removing this milky film or found a answer to masking it in some way ie varnish etc. Any ideas please. Thanks. Craig.
  2. Hi. Pleased to see you have finally got it sorted. Did you go for the sound loco and matching digital coaches or just the loco for now?. If you have the digital coaches PM me I can give you a couple of tips on getting the rake coupled up, the connections can be awkward and if you are not careful the metal pins can easily be bent, trust me I know from experience. I am sure you will enjoy your new arrival.
  3. Thanks for posting the photo's. Always nice to see some continental shots on here, if you have more please share them with us. Craig.
  4. Hi All. Thanks for posting your photo's, I too have been side tracked by the continental bug following a holiday in Austria. I am 60 years old and have been involved with model railways all of my life, following that holiday and subsequent trips I couldn't hold out any longer and made that faitfull purchase which was now 6 years ago. I now look back and have to say it's been a most rewarding period for me, I have quite happily sold off my Uk stock and built up a sizeable collection of mainly Austrian stock from the main manufacturers. So to you all come on in it's fantastic. Craig.
  5. When I see such things it's not my teeth I worry about it's the wallet.
  6. Hi, Sorry to hear of your redundancy I trust things will work out in the end, life has a habit of being so. Looks like your last visit to A and H was productive I all ways seem to come away with a smile on my face guess it's the little boy in me. I look forward to following your layout up dates through the summer. Cheers for now. Craig.
  7. Hi Piko have different quality models just like Hornby, I have models from both of there ranges. If quality is more important to you then go for Roco or Jagerndorfer both produce excellent models which can if you shop around be picked up for £145/150 for non sound and around £235 for sound. I note we don't live very far from each other, if you would like to have a good look at the various ranges PM me, you would be quite welcome to pop over and have a look. Craig.
  8. Also agree with giz, Scograil are a great dealer there service is spot on and they usually have a discount also recommend C and M models in Carlisle just as good. Both have websites.
  9. Hi. If scale ie OO/HO is not a problem then you can choose almost any livery form many European manufacturers. A good place to start would be Gaugemaster here in the UK.
  10. Thanks for passing your idea, I will take a leaf out of your book, (forgive the pun). Looks like a weekend replanting trees is on the cards.
  11. Finally managed to call in at A and H models and picked up some MBR trees, they are quite brilliant only problem now is they make the rest on my trees look very ordinary. I also had a loco chipped whilst I was there. Great service as always. Craig.
  12. Peter, Just a footnote, the running plate is part of the chassis the body should lift from the running plate leaving the chassis/running plate as one piece. Craig.
  13. Hi Peter. I have just checked how I got into mine, I placed a very small jewel screwdriver between the body and the cab steps and prized the body outward which then allowed the body to lift, I then removed the clear plastic lens from the rear bulkhead which then enabled the cab to drop down. My model was brought new three years ago so I would think it would come from the same manufacturing period as yours. I agree with you on the running qualities a super little loco. If you still have problems let me know and I will bring mine along to the ARG, AGM. Hope this helps. Craig. (wolfstatt)
  14. Hi Simon, I would think you will see a steady flow of Railjet, Westbahn, EC, and local serives. Not to much freight, maybe a trip working, if you are lucky a container service may pass through. With the loco yard just out of sight a few light loco movements may be seen. Whatever you see I hope you enjoy your hour. Craig.
