  1. The DJM and Kernow factories are one in the same, DJM set up and introduced Kernow to the factory. The DJM factory had both sets of tooling (and others) and had a good relationship with Kernow so asked for help is my opinion. From what I have been told tooling rarely moves factories and if it does can get damaged or bits go missing. I would expect some level of communication between the ranges so you want get competing products but with equal measure I would not expect this to be a short term project.
  2. I think you are missing the point, factories in China can now design, tool and manufacture by themselves and then retail through this brand. Like Sonic in N Gauge working with RevolutioN. If you think they gave up designing when DJM stopped paying you will be wrong. Now working with at least Bachmann UK and Kernow on research and development they will be designing all sorts, who does what research DJM gave them. I do not see a cul-de-sac here just a way to bypass the Kader log jam. Some items will continue through branchline and Farish to maintain brands and others through EFE Rail to generate cash and new stock on shelf's.
  3. The way I see it and this may influence a few decision, is a local or regional lockdown can be introduced over night. The trials of fans at sporting events last weekend was cancelled at very short notice and the change of rules for the north west and surrounding areas was announced at 21:15 for midnight start less than 3 hours notice. Could you imagine spending Friday setting up and then at 21:15 local lockdown closes the event, you may not even be technically allowed to break down on Saturday or would have to do it in a managed staggered time slots over whole weekend.
  4. The CAD and tooling may be 2 completely different thinks now, tooling owned by the factory able to produce. CAD or a version of sold by administrator but with no direct factory back up or support. I would back the player who holds the tooling either partial or complete and has a working factory. I wish all parties great success.
  5. So N gauge king and shark in next round, as I believe both were part or possibly fully tooled. This does explain alot and has obviously been in the planning stage a while, possibly waiting for DJM to be finally wound up. DJ may have even seen this coming hence the IP rubbish and other brain fart moments. The factory may have carried on and designed some of the other stuff as well ready, so we may get a few items as I doubt this will be the limit of this range.
  6. Covid is a red herring in all this, The world did not stop or dramatically change after the Spanish flue in 1918-1920. Social distancing was introduced in the UK in 1918 and did not last once troops came home from the front and certainly did not change factories, mills and offices long into the 1920s. Once the new normal is established or a vaccine is available alot will want to return to normal working. Humans are generally social creatures that need regular social interactions, I do not want to work from home long term for an employer. Mine is reopening our office next week due to demand from staff to do so. That artical was flawed in that it kept saying post covid, for a project that was started well before, was not required. Using that argument the Victorians shouldn't have built any canals, railways or roads because spanish flu / covid would make them obsolete. Add in it said it would be powered by fossil fuels when we are rapidly stopping the use of them. Add in Chris lives in a big house in rural England, driving around telling the rest of us who live in tiny houses or apartments in towns and cities that we should not travel, use electric but watch him do it. These environmental groups are also apposed to all development including green alternatives like tidal and wave power, I think we should de-carbon but unfortunately you have to break some eggs to make a cake.
  7. Does a large marquee not just become an indoor space, with aload of added issues. You are moving from 1 secure indoor environment to 1 difficult to secure indoor environment. I do not from a Covid point of view see the difference between a hall and marquee.
  8. Interesting article until I got to the end, why on a article about archaeology along the route did they need to end with a paragraph of the cost change. It almost comes across as lock at what has been found by this over cost over running project, instead of the insightful examination of the archaeology facts. BBC stop the criticism campaign and just write articles on the topic heading and leave the reader to do their own further research. The cost appraisal at the end was so basic it was biased and unrepresentative.
  9. Correct me if I am wrong but the Class 90 has been done by Graham Farish, not sure about liveries or how recently released or how well. This I would suggest would deter Dapol from doing a class 90 as Graham Farish could quickly release some.
  10. 2 men suites drive around in an old police car singing, dancing, drinking and reminiscing.
  11. This thread is brilliant, very funny, unlike DodgyDaves business skills. Dodging a hurricane while spending others money must be very stressful, especially while trying to setup a new bank account. Perhaps that is why he went of to the Galapagos Islands for a well earned rest, hurricane stress.
  12. There is campaigns to upgrade the north - south road route down through Newtown (now bypassed) this road has major problems at times and has had quite a bit spent on it around Chirk and Newtown. I believe more needs to be done further south and that jobs are being lost in the area due to poor transport links. Good road and rail connections should be available to all not just the mass population centres, we all need to travel outwards at some point.
  13. Your missing o Yeah I agree a lot of it is politics, but your missing out the university and tourist traffic that currently uses mid and north wales lines. This would also increase with north south route. As part of devolution you can not say a part of the country shouldn't have an internal system because its too expensive when we collectively closed it in the first place. Its not new like HS2 its replacing what has been taken away.
  14. Its a big time issue travelling from Mid Wales or North Wales to South Wales via England, could you imagine the Scots putting up with all rail journeys between Glasgow and Edinburgh going via Newcastle? Or all Bristol to London Via Portsmouth or Manchester? Ultimately you do not know what the demand is until you build it and by building it you create the demand.
  15. Poor Dave always someone or something else’s fault or to blame, never anything hes done. Plus his partner (well going back a couple of years) I believe did have a well paid job. I heard a rumour he was truck driving last year so this does not add up, poor Dave.
  16. Bearing in mind you often have to change somewhere in England at least once. Certainly from my Parents in Carno you have to change in Birmingham somewhere or Shrewsbury depending on the next part of the journey.
  17. Carmarthen-Aberystwyth and Bangor and Caernarfon close gaps which mean you could travel from North Wales to south without leaving Wales. Currently you have to go via Chester, Shrewsbury, Birmingham etc to go from any where in mid to North Wales south. Brecon real should be on the rail network as a major tourist area and could link up into mid Wales. Its not purely about numbers but opening up areas and connecting North and South.
  18. Carno Station is needed if it is a parkway as Caersws has no parking and covers a large area. The Laura Ashly factory closed quite a few years ago and is very much becoming derelict. They are struggling to get any tackers due to access, which station would help with. I know someone is using parts of the factory for storage but has never brought the jobs promised and a timber transport firm use part of the yard. The lovely old station and goods shed are I believe falling into very poor condition. The station at Carno would serve a large rural community if it has good parking and reduce driving.
  19. Unfortunately some of us knew his character and history during and before his time at Dapol. Our warnings were taken as being negative or attacks against the great man from Dapol. Having meet him numerous times I saw both sides of Dave during his time at Dapol and DJM. He could be quite frankly extremly rude and on other occasions very friendly, I would not give him money upfront for anything (even buying a cup of tea) as I would not trust him. He also announced products on purpose to annoy people, to try to trump competitors or simply out of spit. I know because he did it to me, when he knew I was working on the N Gauge Mermaid with Dapol. He then tried to get me to take on products with him as a way of apology, ie I have done this on purpose but I'll let you have this instead if you work with me instead of Dapol. DJM good ridence, although I will miss the threads they were very entertaining, fanciful and the fanboy approach was fantastic, verging on worship.
  20. Holiday insurance excludes Covid-19 cancellation, I have just took a policy out for a weekend trip next May cancelled from this year for the Dunkirk anniversary. Covid is not covered except in certain circumstances.
  21. A good amount of cash must have been in the account at somepoint to earn £5.02 in interest you don't get that of £0.10 in a year.
  22. Yes the components are moving apart from each other, I should say I am using components but was not aware of the grounding and purpose of joints mentioned by Bill Bedford above. I'll have a play with this in a minute, to see if I ca fix some of these issues. In the picture attached (if it works) the different colours are different components, when I was working on one and turned another back on I found that I had some how moved it. I have now moved them all based on their origin to the main origin and then individually moved items like wheels and headlights. This is about 1:84.8 scale as I am using dims direct out of a 1938 brochure, it will eventually be scaled down to 1:148.
  23. Saturn sounds good, doesn't seem to be available yet, look forward to seeing if you get one and howyou get on with it.
  24. Add in internet usuage, insurance (who know where we stand, injury, theft etc) office equippment not checked to be upto H&S standards. Come winter energy bills will be alot higher heating on all day, lights on, more kettles boiled, employer off the hook. Mine has started working evenings to spend day walking dog or with his family but then sends messages etc in evening asking questions. Home is home, office for work.
  25. I know it is me that is moving things by mistake but it is very fustrating when you spend ages working on a part that you think is aligned to find when yo turn the other component on something has moved. Can you lock or fix the position of an item when you start so you can not accidental move it?
