    Dapol 08

So even when they are right and say that the models on show were samples and will be corrected you still find room to criticise. Your assumptions have been found to be wrong this is not back peddling as you put it if the it was in fact sorted several weeks ago.

    Dapol 08

Dapol have responded to most if not all of the above on their forum https://digest.Dapol.co.uk/forum/o-gauge-models/locomotives/class-08/project-managers-blog-ai/394-o-class-08-opening-statement As to what was said at last weekend I will refrain from defending or passing comment.
  3. Fine Matt I hope we all get the model we want.
  4. But if they want the model to be correct this is not the place, to end with disappointed with CADs is a shame. I am a massive fan of the class 50 so if something is wrong I want it reported and corrected,is that not fair?
  5. Have you shared this with Dapol via Dapol Digest? That is the only place to raise these concerns.
  6. Profit invested in any product will all lead to the products you want. Bit by bit cash flow will build up these crowd funding and retail commissions speed that process along.
  7. I apologise to DJM in advance for this pure assumption, but I suspect that these crowd funding projects along with the many retailer commissions that all jump the queue are encouraged to help finance the business. The profits from these are paying for the standard range, along with the J94 and mermaids, it all adds up to support the growing, new start up business. Dave and I have had our differences and I am far from an out and out supporter, as people on here have criticised me in the past, but fairs fair he's trying. I disagree with his land grab early announcements, but the crowd fund and retail commissions all help fund the standard range.
  8. Have you joined the Dapol digest and passed on your thoughts / knowledge?
  9. Please remember this is the 1st EP so some details may be wrong or need correcting.
  10. Having watched a School going around and around all morning with no issues at the NGS AGM today I can say a few complaints do not make a bad loco. For every 1 complaint on here they're may be 10 or more happy customers, who don't shout about not having issues. Several have however come on here and reported no issues and said how happy they are with the loco.
  11. David I would suggest you look here and raise the issue https://digest.Dapol.co.uk/forum/n-gauge-models/class-33/project-managers-blog/331-class-33-decorated-samples
  12. Can I suggest instead of complaining on here where Dapol don't listen, you register for Digest Dapol and politely ask the question about the livery. It may also be a good idea to then ask if the livery you want will be produced in the next batch all be it with a different running number and name. They may be open to suggestions on livery options and details particularly if you have a picture that they do not.
  13. Dapol have explained on they new website. Odd you have 2 posts both rants at Dapol in another thread someone is ranting at Dapol and has only made one post!
  14. Any news on these, Mermaids due on sale at Alley Pally? Still no actual GWR livery mermaids listed I see just early BR.
  15. Remember that in N you have a direct route to a lot if not the majority of N Gauge modelers with the NGS Journal, to the best of my limited knowledge you do not have 1 direct route to a substantial number of the OO market (correct me if I am wrong). Good luck
  16. So if some of these were in the tool room at the time of your announcement and you were talking of EPs around about Warley, 2 months seems reasonable for an update as the first is due on sell in 4-5 months?

    Ask Dave

All ready a thread here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/104117-n-gauge-wagon-announcement/
  18. Okay Mike I agree Dapol should have embedded some text into the picture so that when it got copied and posted no context could be lost. My point about the number of pictures in the presentation is valid as I was referring to the whole presentation at the open day that if it had multi picture's for every loco variation would have been over the top.
  19. Mike it is not errors it is a publicity CAD image to show as many details as possible. It is like having a steam loco with 4 chimneys and someone saying it is wrong when it is blatantly wrong as the prototype never had 4 chimneys but did have 4 different styles of chimney.Dapol have tried to use 1 CAD image to show differing details at a presentation and now been attacked for it, what are the meant to do show multiply CADs of every variation of every loco in a 30 min presentation? unpractical I would suggest, silence and not sharing potential outcome may result though.
  20. First EP stage is the first rough casting off the tooling a lot of extra work can be done to the tooling after this stage. First EP is to check the overall dimensions and joins in the mold, most detail like rivets etc is added after this stage. Metal can be re-added and then cut again as DJ has mentioned in the J94 thread.
  21. So now you have to be a paid professional to do a review, yes he made errors but life is about learning, someone said his review should be ignored because he is inexperienced well so was I when I was young and so am I now and probably still will be the day I die. Every day we should be about learning something new, irrespective of how old we are or how knowledgeable we may think or know we are. This lad has taken a first step and yes could have taken 10-15 minutes do some basic research before posting online but I suspect the excitement of youth may have got in the way. How can we hope to encourage the next generation in to this hobby if at the first pass we deride there input as inexperience of youth and invalidate all that is said good or bad on that bases.
  22. Well done Ben and Mike you have achieved so much, a real shame you came so close but so far.
  23. This project has not disproved the funding model as it has not run its true full course, so no lessons there. The funding model is a valid and reliable model that is well used and respected outside of railway modelling. This was always going to be a big ask as it is a big jump from a few thousand raised previously to a few hundred thousand this time. Kickstarter is a very good system and time restraints are always required as is the all or nothing. Other platforms take the money when pledged, what would have happened if you had done this, you would have £180000 and a commitment to supply the goods costing £210000. I still feel and am working on a project to push the funding goal up by several thousand but under a Hundred the hobby needs to move forward in small steps and this has proofed the system.
  24. Yes you get one saying it failed, or you could logging into your account and click on that project and then screen print your account.
  25. Word of warning people signing up to newsletter is not the same as Kickstarter backer, you need 2 lists. If Kickstarter list is lost which I doubt, it might be best to start recording names now.
