  1. Yes I spotted that. I have alerted RI and they will publish a correction but in the meantime the correct dates are as follows. 179 25/03/1967 180 06/10/1967 181 15/12/1966 183 24/12/1966 184 07/11/1966 185 08/12/1966 Dates GENERALLY refer to release to traffic though in a few cases it refers to date the work was done, a few days before but there is no way to differentiate. The works records are not that detailed sadly though to know the month is probably enough for most modellers. I hope anyway!
  2. Black with wasp stripes-several hundred Class 08s and some carried the black until the 70s, D3052 was withdrawn black in December 1973 and 08105 is believed to have been black until 1975 though I do not have concrete proof.
  3. If of interest several Class 11s and at least two Class 12s made it to BR Blue.
  4. http://www.railwaysillustrated.com/ It's out tomorrow and lists the repaint dates green to blue of all the Peaks plus dates of FYE where known.
  5. After a few weeks of seriously intensive research I think I now have the full lowdown on peak liveries of the 1965-73 era with dates green to blue and I'll be publishing it all in Railways Illustrated shortly so look out for it, December issue. Aren't I a tease....
  6. Sadly, no GFYE Peaks before 1969.. The four 44s in this style were all done post 1970.
  7. This is the gen I have for dates of GFYE for the few 46s that had it. There were many green locos with panels into 1971 and 147/63/5 lasted into 1972, 165 was lined. 138 Green SYP 30/1/71 FYE by 22/2/71 In works Dec 71 blue by 1/2/72 154 SYP 2/3/71 and FYE 19/3/71 so March 71! 155 SYP 16/1/71 FYE 13/3/71 159 SYP 30/1/71 GFYE 10/4/71 still GFYE 18/12/71 Blue-dunno! reported RO July 72 so sometime between December 71-May 72. 166 SYP 21/6/69 reported FYE RO Oct 69 still GFYE 18/7/70 blue ex works 16/10/70 188 First 27/9/69 blue by 19/8/70 193 First 15/1/70 still GFYE 2/10/70 blue by 22/12/70
  8. Of the GFYE 46s, 138, 154, 155, 188 and 193 were lined out, 159 and 166 weren't. I hae collected shots of every one of the 44s and 46s in GFYE but more or less nowt for the 45s. If anyone knows of more..
  9. Yes, well 25 was anyway, 26 I think was lined out and if 100 was-which I don't know for sure-it was also lined out. 100....well I just don't know. Surely there is a shot of it in green taken in the summer of 69 (there's a song in that somewhere) that will confirm or deny. I know I saw the bloody thing, I know I did, but the more time goes on the less sure I feel but I KNOW I saw it and I even wrote it in the back of my 1970s spotting notes listing all the pre TOPS locos I saw with a note it had GFYE and I wrote that 35 years or more ago. Maybe it was GFYE one end only, it's possible. I even remember it having the secondman's window surround unpainted and that it was running no 2 end first on a mixed freight, on the slow lines! I don't think I dreamt it..... Bear in mind I lived near to the MML and yet I have no memory at all of seeing a GFYE 44, not once. There were 4 of them but I do not recall seeing any! I clearly remember ex works blue no 2, being quite disappointed at seeing 8 blue as I recall it in GSYP shunting the local yard circa 1968 and wondering what the hell a Penyghent was, and I clearly recall cabbing D45 and being terrified aged maybe 3 or 4 at Derby Midland. And seeing GSYP 46s on the NESW trains with all blue/grey stock, 141 and 189 were common sights. One of these days a phot will emerge..
  10. You'll be lucky! There were only two and possibly three, D25/6 and maybe D100 and in 30 years searching I've found two shots total, one of which is very poor and one of which is definitely D25 but unclear as to green or blue, though cabside serif numbers indicate economy green. It had a lion emblem in mid 1966 so not an early blue job.
  11. 5193 to GFYE-I don't have a clue! 5192 was reported blue in Nov 1971 Railway Observer.
  12. Yes they were, a typo!! Not like me to muck up on liveries, don't tell anyone for God's sake!
  13. The serif numbers on blue and cab door arrows were the ones done at Inverurie. They did their blue repaints with serif numbers for some reason, also on 20s, a 25 and 29s.
  14. Blue with panels and a lion were 5021/6, 5218 for sure. Some say 5226 but I have no proof. 7660-77 were blue with panels but arrows.
  15. Sadly I don't know which end was which. Source is unimpeachable and not unique anyway but I have not seen photos though no photo would show it! 8005/70 were the same.
  16. Not really what you are looking for but 5230 was recorded 24/7/71 with full yellow ends one end and panels the other.
  17. Quite a few 25s went GSYP to blue, at least 7600/59 were still GSYP in February 1974. Many still GSYP in the early 70s.
  18. Sorry, being thick. If that shot is 5676 then it is unique and i suspect a depot lash up. As far as my records go, 31s were done with cabside arrows and bodyside numbers up till approx spring 1971, thereafter with a central arrow as we know. A few remained in the early style after TOPS numbering, nos 31115/40/46, 31251/6/8/9 at least and I'm sure there were a few more. Not much variety on Rail Blue but green was diverse with Green plain ends, GSYP lion, GSYP arrow, GFYE lion and arrow and 5557/61 had GFYE with cabside arrows and bodyside numbers. Both serif and asymmetrical numbers were in use.
  19. I'm unsure what you mean, the numbers are cabside not bodyside.
  20. Can add one thing, it was blue by late November 1971 so unlikely to have ever been GFYE.
  21. I have 15th June 1969. I have 5373/4/91/7 as wearing this style of blue, with bodyside numbers. All were as far as i know done by Derby around spring 69. Glasgow did them with cabside numbers.
  22. Grahame are you sure re 5397 getting blue at the same time as 5389? I have it down as June 1969 at Derby.
  23. Sluggard that I am best I can offer is 1969. There were several of the other kind into the early 70s and at least two into Feb 1974.
