  1. If you can cope with the necessary faffing about involved with setting up double headers, although I've already had a great day with the Foxes completing the Greatest Escape in the Premiership history with a game to spare.
  2. I thought they were a Swindon development of the 0-6-2T wheel arrangement that was much favoured by the Railway Companies of South Wales for heavy coal haulage on the twisty heavily graded valleys lines. 6676 and 7221 at Severn Tunnel Junction in 1951. There's a double header that could be re-recreated on ANTB, with 6676 in Devon for minor attention to the trailing pony truck at Newton Abbot because of works capacity issues at Caerphilly.
  3. Well I'll eat my hat: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/99267-collett-bow-ended-standard-57-corridor-stock-coaches-for-2016/
  4. That League One play-off semi-final last night was a bit boring for the neutral .
  5. A few photos of the canals in Braunston, Northants - the busy heart of the Waterways. A narrowboat emerging from the western portal of BraunstonTunnel. Opened in 1796 and 2,049 yds (1,874 mtrs) long. A rare quiet moment - Lock 5 looking towards Lock 4. The Bottom Lock with a pair of narrowboats beginning the ascent to Braunston Tunnel. Braunston dry dock is the large building on the left and the well known "Boat Shop" forms part of the cluster of buildings on the right. Braunston Marina. Plenty of narrowboats for the weekend and there are at least as many again behind me in the other part of the Marina. (Taken from the Oxford Canal) the magnificent pair of cast iron bridges, manufactured by the Horsley Ironworks of Tipton and dating from 1830, which span the unique triangular junction of the Oxford Canal and the Grand Union Canal. There is a third bridge to the same design at the entrance to Braunston Marina. All three were erected when the Oxford Canal was straightened/shortened. Apparently Marc Brunel (father of IK) was involved in the Oxford Canal improvements. Braunston Church and Manor House overlooking the Canals from the ridge on which Braunston village sits.
  6. It'll be caused by Brent Home Guard's Piat team cunningly concealed on the Plymouth Road and ordered to protect "The "Pack Horse" at all costs. (My late father said anyone even attempting to fire a Piat deserved a medal, but they were apparently very effective at close range, if you could keep your nerve).
  7. "Die Richtung ANTB Kamerad?" Tiger (left) and Panther (right) passing one another on the newly constructed Brent Autobahn.
  8. Something to do with one player having played for Blackpool years ago?
  9. No trip to Wembley for Preston North End and their "fans" would be a good start.
  10. Premiership survival hopes are looking a bit more promising for my team Leicester City after winning four successive top flight matches for the first time since 1966...... Bottom of the Premier League 22/03/15 Bottom of the Premier League 25/04/15 Chelsea up next . Two more wins might be enough and we've still got Newcastle (h), Sunderland(a) and Q.P.R (h) to play.
  11. Seen coming off the down loop here: http://www.cornwallrailwaysociety.org.uk/uploads/7/6/8/3/7683812/9876874_orig.jpg
  12. Croft Hill SSSI, Leicestershire. The site of some splendid Norman butchery justice in 1124 when 44 thieves were hanged at the top of the hill and a further six unfortunates blinded and castrated on the same day. It's quieter now apart from when the adjacent quarry is blasting. Croft Quarry. Said by some to be one of the deepest man made holes in Europe - approximately 270 metres or 900 feet deep. Some slightly more sylvan scenery - the River Soar which runs at a lower level along one side of the quarry site.
  13. That incident took place only 3 miles from the West Midland Safari Park. Not saying there's a connection but...........
  14. There is a photo of W6881W at Wadebridge in July 1960 on p154 in Spams own book. I think this is a coach to Diagram E147.
  15. According to the GWRJ "Special Cornish lssue" in the early to mid 1950s W6975W and W6976W formed Bodmin No.1 Set and W6977 and W6978W formed Bodmin No.2 Set. All Diagram E140.
  16. The Finchings have e-mailed me a few photos of the "10,000 Posts on ANTB Firework Display", which is taking place at the moment in South Brent. Two views from the Island Platform and one showing the rarely photographed towers of Brent Castle.
  17. You should have backed "Rhino Boy". He didn't fall as he charged most of the later fences, but he tired towards the end of the race.
  18. "Because I never liked Christmas Pudding, my Christmas dinner always ended with super-thick rice creamola, and I was in heaven. I haven't seen it for years. If I ever do I will mix myself a triple-thick bowl full and sink into paradise!" That's a lie....
