  1. 6 or 7 Comet GWR coach kits currently at reasonable prices just beginnning to end on eBay e.g: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/361173835708?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Be quick
  2. Yes I saw that and I have been cross-checking to make sure that 6406, 6414 and 6421 (all loyal to Laira from first to last?) are suitable for my shortlist. I don't think I've got too much of a problem with the black version, but I was greedy and ordered a lined green version as well. Pretty sure I read on the 64XX thread that 6421 was lined green, but with an e/crest. 6400 would also do for a lined green example, as I've seen a picture of it at Tavistock which is near enough for me geographically.
  3. Interesting - I had to reject 6417, as I'm looking at a 1957-1962 scenario eventually, and 6417 was disloyal to the West Country and deserted to South Wales in October 1953
  4. Presumably it will be one of Laira's Magnificent Seven of 1938 - 6406,6407,6414,6417,6419,6420 and 6421. All still there in 1946, apart from 6420, which seems to have spent some time at St Blazey and Taunton before returning to Laira in October 1948. 6407 was apparently allocated to Southall (?) at 31/12/47 but returned to the West Country again before August 1950.
  5. Unfortunately he's in these too......mind you whenever I hear him speak in them at least it removes any temptation for me to bet. I suppose that might be a good thing.
  6. Good call. That was on my shortlist: Plenty of trees, a creek, a corn mill, lime kilns and a quarry at a pinch. Dittisham and East Cornworthy Station (?) about half a mile from each settlement but a mile from Dittisham Quay. Just a pity the branch wasn't cleared for"Red" engines.
  7. Looks like it will have to join the queue from the way those trains are queuing block to block in the background.......
  8. "Yes not running bunker first might make sense when you look at that 9 mile climb up to Loddiswell...." "But there isn't a 9 mile climb to Loddiswell!........OMG ...he's been running ANTB for nearly two years with an upside down Kingsbridge Branch gradient profile..."
  9. One or more of the Composite, 3rd and Brake 3rd also on offer from that seller would be more useful to break up the later Colletts and create a typical "ragbag" GWR coach rake. Might have to check if they all survived until 1947 though.
  10. Should be possible in early 2016 - just after the DJM King is due - and not in the 2015 budget year http://www.aandhmodels.co.uk/72151-usatc-s160-2-8-0-dcc-sound-25519-p.asp Apparently it should be able to chuff, clank and squeal too - just a pity it's the wrong scale
  11. This'll be the sort of thing: http://locodriver.co.uk/Railway_Encyclopedia/Part147/Part03/img15.gif 6 or more coaches nearly always double headed with smaller locomotives, as the Ilfracombe line was a bit bumpy and lumpy in places. I have seen some photos of less than six coaches being double headed, but I assume this might be for pathing reasons to get bankers or pilots back into position on busy days.
  12. I've seen Gara Bridge on quite a few people's "that would make a good layout" list. Photos of models of Gara Bridge Station Building and Shelter on are on the web, but none of a complete model of Gara Bridge as far as I know. Does anybody know of a complete model of Gara Bridge, as I could be looking in the wrong places.
  13. Leicester City were the victims of the most stupid penalty award this season yesterday - since when has the ball clearly hitting a player in the face been a penalty? At least Wes Morgan probably hasn't got to play Liverpool again this season - two assists for Lallana and Gerard in our 3-1 home loss and then sent off for manhandling Lambert later on and yesterday conceding this "penalty". Liverpool looked distinctly average to me in both games and we should have got more than one point from the games. Mind you when your luck is out and you keep shooting yourself the foot defensively, as we did twice against a very unimpressive Tottenham* on Boxing Day, you get nothing in the Premiership. *Tottenham were very good yesterday though.
  14. This is the loco Rob really needs - a "cut and shut" SECR/GWR Mogul - as proposed/drawn by Swindon in 1917: Looks "doable" with a Bachmann N Class and GWR Mogul.and a sturdy hacksaw Thank goodness the drawings only came to light again in 1954
