I reckon Western National might be upset at the sight of so many Devon General buses that far West of the River Dart.

Only 8 clubs - West Ham, Sunderland, Southampton, W.B.A., Barnsley, Wolves, Notts Co and Tottenham - have won the F.A. Cup from lower leagues. Most of those teams would be well capable of getting promotion to the Premier League without needing to sneak into it because they managed to win half a dozen games in an irrelevant Cup competition.

Letter from Luftschiffbau Zeppelin, Friedrichshafen Sehr beruhmt and beliebt Kapitan Kernow, ....... Unfortunately, due to the unsatisfactory and dangerous mooring arrangements devised by Mr Traddles, which involved tethering our beautiful airship to the rusty Water Tower at Tigley Junction, there will be no further direct cheap flights between South Brent and Friedrichshafen. However if you still wish to visit Friedrichshafen, we have ein sonderangebot mit gutschein an exceptional offer - a London-Friedrichshafen return flight and a voucher for free GWR 1st Class rail travel between South Brent and Paddington - with prices starting from £39. For information and bookings please apply to Hamburg-American Line, Wm.H.Muller & Co., 66-68 Haymarket, London SW1. etc.,.........

I hope Rob can lay on something as memorable as this for ANTB's 2nd Anniversary. From a German postcard I won on eBay. Almost 10 years ago to the day "Graf Zeppelin" made it's one and only visit to the South Hams to drop off a small party of well-to-do German ANTB thread followers in time for the annual "ANTBFest" celebrations, before continuing on to Rio de Janiero. The postcard shows L.Z.127 circling impotently above Tigley Junction, although the local population did get to hear their first Maybach music. Out of sight Tommy Traddles struggles to finish the temporary mooring mast, as the Germans have arrived a day earlier than expected. Footnote: I have been informed that my postcard is a complete fake and not just because of the poor German - I wonder why?

That's almost sedition - Millwall might only be half a dozen flakey results away from the Premier League

Probably not what you had in mind but: Sir Robin, I would have loved to have attended ANTB's 2nd Anniversary celebrations, as I haven't seen much high quality GWR modelling in the last 530 years. Alas circumstances have conspired against me yet again, and I have been sealed in my lead ossuary over the weekend and I won't now be able to make it to Coventry after all. Yours etc. Richard lll Rex etc. etc. P.s. Do you like my new hair colour I think it suits me.

I did check my "facts" as I'm only a part-time Gongoozler -

Foxton Locks South Leicestershire this afternoon: Looking towards Leicester with Grand Union Canal on the left and the Top Lock and Lock Keeper's Cottage of the 10 Lock Foxton "Staircase" in the distance and on the right a disused arm, which used to lead from the top of Foxton Inclined Plane. Looking down the remnants of the Inclined Plane towards the lower access spur and boat lift caisson pools. The Inclined Plane was opened in 1900, but mothballed in 1911 because the anticipated increased levels of canal traffic never materialised and other canal improvements further South never took place. Large parts of it were sold for scrap in 1928. The site is a Scheduled Monument and there are long term plans to rebuild/reopen the Inclined Plane at a cost of £9m plus. Looking down the Staircase, apparently the largest flight of it's particular kind in England, towards the Bottom Lock with the Inclined Plane Engine House to the right. Foxton Locks are part of the European Route of Industrial Heritage and Grade II listed. View just beyond the bottom of the Staircase, with the Market Harborough canal arm curving sharply away to the left, through the brick arched bridge access to foot of the Inclined Plane area and via the bend and just out of sight to the right the Bottom Lock of the Staircase. -
Here's a smart line-up of Western National buses, all on the Dartmouth-Kingsbridge route 93 service, taken at Slapton Sands: http://www.flickr.com/photos/40121963@N03/15473742541/in/photolist-pPHSYC-g7tPJc-8yYuCX-oVVKhu-pzmYyv-g4cwTY-g4jWNP-aD6m4S-aD2uhV-hgw1Hv-dbX1H5-97fYBw-ao3WmL-9DVNZi-3XdAa7-dfSEgt/ I suspect the middle bus with "Tour" displayed has been hijacked by the Finchings for a discrete detour to that beach at Strete, although the single decker bus to the left of it would be better for a 1947 scenario, as it entered service in 1939.
