  5. To all our loyal customers, We realise the email we sent you recently, containing information around our next exclusive models, has caused some confusion. Therefore, we’d like to clarify a couple of points, and please accept our apologies for any misunderstanding that this might have caused. Once we have confirmed dates for production of your model and expected delivery to us, we will send you an email which will include the full price for the model you have reserved, as well as the instructions for paying the outstanding balance. You will then have 30 days to inform us you’d like to confirm your order and complete the payment, before we dispatch your model to you. Please note that some of our models are nearer to production than others. Customers wishing to purchase our next available model Class 47 Prince Henry will therefore receive the follow up email as a priority. If you have reserved the “Evening Stars box set”, including both the Class 9F and the Class 66 models, we would like to clarify that you will be dispatched the box set and not individual models. A “glitch” in our mailing system caused individual emails for each of the 2 Evening Stars models to be sent to you; please ignore that and be assured you will be asked to purchase your reserved box set. Please also note that we have limited the number of box sets to 100, therefore if you have reserved this set and you have received an original confirmation for this order, it means you were one of the lucky 100 customers who will enjoy our Limited-Edition Evening Stars box set. We hope the above clarifies some of the confusion caused by our earlier email, and again please accept our apologies for this. Thanks in advance The Locomotion Models Team
  6. 350 DCC Ready and 150 DCC Sound re: handrails they are silver to get the effect of polished steel, which you can see on the loco yard pictures on the web of the loco in steam museum not white as mentioned, just the way the loco has been photographed. regards Stuart
  7. Update on Dean Goods The pictures show the latest sample, which was sent July 2017. Due to further quality improvements on the last samples we have received from the manufacturers there will be a delay in delivering to the UK. The new estimated time of arrival will now be late summer. We are aware this may cause you a lot of frustration, however we are working with the manufacturer to maintain high quality production. They will in turn keep us updated on the progress and date of release. The Dean Goods is going to be a great model and there is still time to pre-order your very own model via the links below. We will be in touch with everybody as soon as we have firm update on the delivery.
  8. A special update on the Stirling Single Two days ago, we received the stunning 2nd EP pre-production sample of our OO Gauge model of GNR Stirling Single No. 1, so we thought you would love to see some great images. The latest sample (photographs above and below) has performed extremely well over some complex and demanding track-work and both forward and reverse running are excellent. There is more detailing still to be added (like the front bogie splashers) as we proceed to the next stage of livery sample. Production will start shortly after that. Delivery to the UK is estimated to be later this year. We are working very closely with Rapido to achieve the highest possible quality production, for which they are renowned. They will in turn keep us updated on the progress and date of release. Our Stirling Single No. 1 is going to be a cracking model you will love to have in your collection – there is still time to pre-order your model on our website – locomotionmodels.com. Avoid disappointment and order early as demand is expected to be very high for our first delivery.
  9. Hi all, we have fixed our problems with our newsletter provider and normal service will resume this month, with some great offers and exclusive updates. Kind Regards Simon and Stuart
  10. Morning Thank you for your comment. We do not have a final figure of the box sets - 50 was the original figure discussed in-house only . We will react to customer demand as the box sets are a sought after item and will increase to react to demand. We are collating our customer reservation orders and will be sending out updates on the progress of the order and the prices as this figure has not been set - hence the reservation fee of 10p. Hope this helps - Simon
  11. Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon is pleased to confirm that steam locomotive BR Standard Class 2MT No. 78018 will be attending the museum’s Autumn Steam Gala event on Saturday September 16 & Sunday September 17, 2017. Built at Darlington North Road Works in 1953, 78018 entered traffic on March 3 1954 at West Auckland Shed. This was soon followed by a move to Kirkby Stephen, working trains from Tebay to Barnard Castle on the Stainmore Railway. It was while on this line that 78018 became famous by getting stuck in a snow drift during February 1955. Its subsequent rescue was recorded in the British Transport Film “Snowdrift at Bleath Gill”, which can be viewed in the museum’s Collection Building. The locomotive was withdrawn on November 12 1966, before spending 11 years at Barry scrapyard. The locomotive is now owned by the Darlington Railway Preservation Society (DRPS), who spent more than 30 years restoring as much of the engine as they could, whilst importantly at the same time collecting together the vast majority of the brass fittings for the engine, which had been removed from the engine before they took ownership. Loughborough Standards Locomotive Group (LSLG) had already restored sister engine 78019, and following agreement with the DRPS, 78018 moved to the Great Central Railway, home of LSLG, for completion. 78018 returned to traffic in Autumn 2016. Visitors to the Autumn Steam Gala at Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon will have the opportunity to see 78018 in light steam on the events apron and enjoy cab access to this famous locomotive. Update 10/7/17 - A3 No.60103 'Flying Scotsman' will also be visiting. The event will feature additional locomotives on outdoor display, plus steam train rides behind Furness Railway No. 20, the oldest standard gauge locomotive still working in the UK. There will also be a host of information stands by heritage railways plus trade stalls to browse.

  13. “The Lowca Legacy” Thursday July 20, 2017 Locomotion: The National Railway Museum at Shildon hosts a bi-monthly series of talks by Curators from the National Railway Museum. The next talk in the series will take place in the Hackworth Room, Collection Building, on Thursday July 20, 2017, starting at 1.45pm. The title of the talk is “The Lowca Legacy”, and the speaker is Anthony Coulls, Senior Curator of Rail Transport & Technology. Throughout the 19th Century, many companies across the UK began to make steam locomotives. Some began from nothing; others were established firms seeking new income. A number grew into major concerns lasting over the century; others came and went. The Cumbrian town of Whitehaven seems an unlikely location for a steam locomotive works, but for nearly 70 years, an engineering company there produced more than 200 locomotives as well as other engineering products. This talk looks at the history of the Lowca Engineering Works and the firms that operated it, and finishes with where you can see the surviving engines from the site in operation or on display in the 21st Century. Tickets for the talk are £5 each – this includes tea/coffee and a scone. Tickets are available from the gift shop at Locomotion: The NRM at Shildon or from www.locomotionmodels.com. For more information, please call the Locomotion team on 01904 685780.
