  1. Howes have the same pictures up too but perhaps a little bigger.... http://www.howesmodels.co.uk/product/BRCW/BR%20class%2033%20diesel%2033033?add=9287 http://www.howesmodels.co.uk/product/BRCW/BR%20class%2033%20diesel%2033002%20Sea%20King Printed covers and wrong numbers.....is that an angry mob I hear approaching ?
  2. Further info is that they will be 33002 in Dutch and 33033 in 3TG Construction.
  3. Save yourself a whole load of bother and go here... http://www.c37lg.co.uk/history.aspx
  4. Can you expand on this? I'd be particularly interested how the goods facilities and loco shed were tacked onto the orignal trackplan. Were they added to the side of the platforms or as an extra board extending the station throat?
  5. Those bargains may have already sailed over the horizon. I was stood next to a certain person (well-know about these parts) who paid The Signal Box £39 for one at Warley last year.
  6. Anyone interested in 4TC operation might like to have a look here............... http://www.4tc.org.uk/413/
  7. I was leafing through my Platform 5 Coaching Stock Spring 1991 last night looking for any non-NSE Livery Mk2 TSO's alloacted at Laira and there were none; they were all NSE liveried. Now, I can't be 100% sure about the other stock types but I can be sure that there was no stock allocated to the London end of the Waterloo-Exeter operation; although it was usually stabled at Clapham. EDIT : There were also some allocated to Eastleigh. Also noted there were about 20 TSO's in NSE livery allocated to Liverpool Edge Hill (1991) So your memory isn't as hazy as you think.
  8. Mk2 TSOs 5341 and 5382 were allocated to Inverness whilst carrying the NSE livery and this shot shows one of them.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/60539035@N02/6891430643 There were also some Mk2 TSOs allocated to Edge Hill, Liverpool for the Trans-Pennine services to Newcastle (at least 5264, 5354 & 5386) The Mk 1 "Cobbler" sets which worked the Northampton-Euston commuters were used on the Euston-Aberystwyth summer Saturday services. Allocation info from Platform 5 Coaching Stock Spring 1991.
  9. Thanks for the info. Now does anyone have the actual dimensions and a decent photo of this panel because (and I can believe I’m saying this) I'm going to have to count the rivets !!
  10. Right then - time for a little more activity on this project and as roofs seem to be the hot topic, we'll start there. I've decided one of the locos I will be doing is 47492 "The Enterprising Scot" in its ScotRail Red Stripe livery. I've found a few shots of it on Flickr but none of them show much in the way of roof detail, except perhaps this one at Carnforth. http://www.flickr.com/photos/bonedome/4569198360/sizes/o/in/photostream/ From that angle and with the rust, I'm struggling to make out if there is anything forward of the round plate covering the Spanner boiler port. So I started to look for other locos which were built at around the same time which I could fairly reliably use as reference for '492. I found that the beautifully preserved 47580 (D1762) was just one loco away from 47492 (D1760) on the production line at Brush so that's close enough for me. There is also no shortage of 47580 shots to use as reference and this one is perhaps the most useful as far as roof shots go.... http://www.flickr.com/photos/jesutcliffe/5721640582/sizes/o/in/photostream/ So that confirms the clear space in front of the boiler port cover but throws up two more issues (never simple is it)................ 1. What is the smaller plate (approx. 8") in front of the main boiler port cover? 2. What is the large plate behind the boiler port cover on the driver’s side and why is it completely missing from my Lima bodyshell ? It's also not present on my Bachmnann 47835 or 47035 bodies.
  11. The boiler port is the big square plate you can see on the left hand side, I'm intersted in the smaller grill towards the right hand side (as marked). This bodyshell was originally 47079, but I've no idea how accurate that bodyshell was for that loco. Lima did tend to slap paint on anything with little regard for accuracy.
  12. I have a couple of Lima Class 47s that I have decided to detail and re-paint. I started by stripping off the old paint using Isopropyl Alcohol which was about 95% successful. First job was to remove the handrails from the top of the nose and the cabs doors. I was thinking that the grooves behind the cab door handrails were too deep, the photo in the link shows they probably are, but it’s too much work to fill and re-cut them. Can anyone shed some light on the small roof grill at No.2 end adjacent to the boiler port cover ? http://www.flickr.com/photos/deepgreen2009/7186273761/
  13. Not that I ever any faith in the phrase "Professionally Weathered" but this really is pushing it............. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bachmann-32-032-PROFESSIONALLY-WEATHERED-BR-BLUE-CLASS-20-LOCO-D8307-BOXED-/150926884593?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item2323f17ef1
  14. I'm looking for any photos of diesels on the line outside of the usual Western allocations (Westerns, Hymeks etc.) This photo has stirred my interest.... http://www.flickr.co...ycat/890871193/ I know that there were no diesels used when the line was open and any photos generally show them on materials recovery duties. I've also come across a rail simulator pack that has class 20's; is this a figment of someone's imagination or based on an actual working ? Thanks.
  15. There will be no opportunity to travel by rail for pleasure in 40 years time; H&S will see to that. Virtual reality will be the only way to recreate the nostalgic feeling and with advances in technology you'll be able to recreate every bump, every lurch, every whiff of steam or smut in the eye of every train train journey ever made from Stockton to Darlington to HS2.5. Me, I'll be sat in my i-ride deluxe experience chair enjoying my first class compo and class 47 on load 15 up the Highland mainline to Inverness, looking forward to the return journey when I fold my i-ride deluxe experience chair flat to re-create a BFK on the internal overnight to Edinburgh with a pair of class 26's (door closed, curtains drawn, bulbs out, window open)
  16. I'm about 70% through making up a C&L B6 and I have had a few problems which I guess you will have too. Like you, I'm new to this and a problem shared........ I'm away from home at the moment but I can post some pictures and some suitable words when I return on Tuesday. Cheers Simon
  17. I asked at the Heljan stand at Warley about another batch of 27's. The good news is they have plans for another run "next year". The bad news is "late next year". At least I can stop contemplating buying one at current eBay prices.
