  1. a few more progress pics. sorry about the through the bedroom window pic, its a bit naff.
  2. had to bite the bullet some time bob. wanted a proper landscaped railway but the space and slope etc said otherwise so anything better than nothing. maybe able to do something at the top where the track is nearer to the ground.
  3. a bit more done, toned down the wood with a wash of green ronseal and sprayed the spikes with rattle can. one set of side pieces added and drill set up to drill the setting blocks.
  4. i think you will find that the GRS loco has been sold out for some time but the skips are still available.
  5. welcome to woodhenge as my eldest calls it. posts sorted side pieces next to do.
  6. look what arrived today. and look what happened later, yes i started, plenty to do yet.
  7. round one to me ordering the wood tomorrow. last pic just for fun
  8. if you cut the silly curves off the set track points you can get 100mm centres (medium radius 80mm) and save about 210mm in length on a crossover.
  9. tower models have the plans for the setrack points to download
  10. 77 the gradient is about 1 in 50, what was yours ?
  11. mike, setting up the laser level to get an idea of the post heights so i can order the wood
  12. well i have a plan. surveyed and parts lists done. going to start ordering wood and fence spikes on monday. having a dumbell design with a over and under to start with. extra sidings to be added later. going the fence spikes and wood structure so it could easily be lifted if necessary.
  13. trouble is i keep changing my mind how to do it
  14. dont do it OB you will regret it.i once had a SM32 in the garden but the 5" took it over. i have some regrets about this. i should of made it easier to reinstate the SM32 when doing the 5".
  15. i thought i recognised the viaduct from pictures i have seen before.
  16. nice phil. if my garden sloped the same was as yours i would have got it done by now. sloping down to the house puts the railway right in your eyesight when you look thru the window which is something i am not keen on. a viaduct like yours may look ok tho, how did you make it.
  17. look halfway thru the pdf Factsheet_2015_with_appendices_-_prog_11compressed.pdf
  18. hi bob it still has a continuous run and a terminus.
  19. well i tried something else yesterday to reduce building works. had a loop at the bottom of the garden with a branch to the station / steaming area. today i did similar but had the loop at the top of the garden going down the garden to the station this gave a better height for steaming. its about 3 blocks high. i wrote a more comprehensive version of the above but it disappeared. some low quality pics as i forgot to check the camera settings.
  20. well i have been checking the cost of a block walling to level the railway. for the blocks alone the cost would be about £1k for the 215mm wide lightweight type or about £400 for the standard heavy 4" wide. this plus digging footings, concrete for footings and actually building the walls is going to cost a fair amount. (even doing it myself) time for a rethink. another 5 years of analysis paralysis
  21. mike, analysis paralysis is the main cause of my pondering's
