Midland Quay

I don't have a drawn out layout plan to hand, but hopefully some helicopter view shots will give a good idea. The lower level track plan is a simple loop and one siding.

The upper level is the 'main line' which runs into a single platform of a station. It's envisaged that the rest of the station is off stage. Obviously the set up means I can only run multiple units, or push pull trains on the upper level.

Hopefully some of the photos clarify a bit.

Thanks for the interest and kind comments.

I love your loco roster.

The cut down Caley Pug works very well with the Peckett.

It proves that, with a bit of work, models from different ages work beautifully together!!

What is the pedigree of the 4 wheeled green diesel in the pictures please?

I think it looks very tidy!!

The layout is great. Dirty, congested full of atmosphere!

I have taken a few more pictures this evening. More little details have been added since the previous pictures.

Caley pug has benefited from some weathering and the moat recent change is the addition of a water tower on the front right in place of a tree. Obviously the ground underneath it still needs a little work.

Very nice.  The barges look good, are they scratch built ?

Thanks. The coal barge is a faller kit with some modifications made to anglicise it and make the coal hold. The other broad bean barge is scratch built from styrene and balsa and the narrowboat is from a very basic vacuform kit whose maker escapes me - again with a bit of detailing work done to improve it. (It was featured on Phil parker's blog a while back-to-back so googling that will bring up the manufacturer)

Narrowboat kit is here- although there are plenty of other sources of narrowboats in 4mm scale. Broad beam barges are a little more of a challenge!

Not sure if one of these could be used as the basis for a broad beam boat - if you can find one: http://www.gaugemaster.com/item_details.asp?code=N35730
