RMweb Premium melmerby Posted November 20, 2017 RMweb Premium Share Posted November 20, 2017 (edited) Hi Dave. Was picture C10099 Montreux taken from the end of the station? It looks like some remodelling has taken place. I can't find the level crossing. I assume it was about here and has been replaced by the underpass: https://goo.gl/maps/omtk7LPG4pE2 https://goo.gl/maps/yyMTkE1G47u The angled bridge is still there. Cheers Keith Edited November 20, 2017 by melmerby

Cheers Keith Hi Keith, It was indeed taken from the end of the platform. Looking at Google Earth image for 1997 (which only has a partial coverage of Montreux in photos) it appears to show the level crossing still in situ. I think the road crossing the line was the Rue de la Gare. David

David Correction - I've just looked at my own 1997 photos and have found that by August 1997 the crossing had gone, as can be seen in my photo below - I think it had only just been done. RMweb Gold DaveF Posted November 29, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted November 29, 2017 A few odds and ends from France today. The Chamonix photos are taken looking down from Le Brevent. The stations can be seen in the upper part of the photos. The Avoriaz photo shows a very short length of "narrow gauge" track from the concrete mixer to a safe place for the helicopter to hover to pick up the concrete containers to take them higher up the mountain.
