  1. Browsing Flickr I came across these images of an old rail connected distribution centre, I once walked past in in the four foot and got a telling off from someone who worked there. I'd never seen any images of this place till now and I realised that now I have no-one to share this with as anyone who may have been interested is no longer with me, how sad...

  4. Well, Radio 3 has been playing some half-decent classical music when I've been tuning in today, although the 1900 mix tape did get a bit avant-garde towards the end.

  6. Waiting at Wooferton for a B1 on an excursion heading to Shrewsbury on the old LNWR/GWR joint - Wooferton is no longer a junction or even a station, but there's still a signal box, refuge siding and (G)WR signalling.

  8. Took my first train ride since early 2020 today - short hop CLC to Styal, train was rammed between Oxford Rd and Piccadilly for Parklife. Required 5 gin and tonics, a zinfandel and a bottle of Camden Lager, a gammon steak and later a lamb curry to calm myself

  12. I came across this photo recently of a Bedford MK Army truck on a Lowmac; and it seemed a good model addition to my Shortmoor Military railway layout. There aren't many 4mm scale 1970's British military truck models available, but I did find this excellent JB Models Bedford MK Army truck kit from the 1990's on eBay, but realising if I built it built straight from the box with the canopy fitted; it would foul the loading gauge. So I scratch built a platform load bed to lower the height, airbrushed it in Tamiya Dark Green after masking the windows, as the cab is a one piece clear plastic moulding. I had to make some tiny hooks for the securing chains from 0.5mm brass wire ( a fiddley job!). I shall have now to build an end loading dock now to facilitate unloading!

  13. Went up Mam Tor today - too many people, so then went up the peak alongside which is actually higher before popping into Castleton for some fodder. Kinder Scout beckons at some point, but I think a map may be necessary.

  15. Whilst I understand why ads are used on this site I am now getting a banner ad too on the top of my screen which is slowly becoming a real pain having to scroll up and down to access the content. Just an unnecessary nuisance ! Can I ask why this has suddenly happened please ?

  16. Radio 3 is perfectly capable of playing some decent, proper classical music but why do they have to deviate so often into the realms of psuedo-arty intellectual guff? Each time I turn over from Classic FM, in despair at the inane, repetitive adverts, I find some pontificating person spouting some clap-trap or the strident and discordant tones of modern so-called 'music' (or else it's jazz - aaargh!).
