  1. Absolute classic model but too big for me and I am currently looking to reduce my stockholding not increase it and add in a new scale.
  2. Would make finding a sound file easier, lots of video tape, dvd and digital Darth Vader content to choose from
  3. A broken down APT-P with a prototype HST power car at one end hauled by a class 37 Failing that, a Trans Pennine unit but of the Mk1 type not the 185 type.
  4. Would anyone be so shortsighted as to do that - oh wait, no wires Stalybridge to Huddersfield. It depends if Northern can procure more electrics as surely that would be similar to the Northwest then with main routes under wires.
  5. Deltic had American styling because EE wanted to export the locomotives, the big headlight would have been fitted of an American type if needed. As Dibber says, the Eastern Region went against the grain to procure them and the type was not part of the pilot scheme but a prototype that offered something nothing else did at the time.
  6. It'll probably be on the final invoice for me - should have had my cc up to date and then I would have got them both by now by the looks.
  7. I would happily have paid full price, but there is a principal here - don't offer something you are not going to fulfil I've only had one so far and I could cancel so I can appreciate the discount may be applied when the second wagon is paid for, but I will chase for it if it is not forthcoming. Rails aren't a charity, is a supplier shortchanged them would they let it go, I doubt it.
  8. Maybe the next invoice will have the discount when the final wagon is sent out.
  9. How picky are you? I thought it was something important like the shade of brass they coloured the whistles
  10. Of course now Virgin don't have a foot in both air and trains watch them induce business passengers onto their Virgin Connect service.
  11. I didn't think it was so unsafe to use a train from Glasgow that security is required? I would have thought it was air travel that was the issue when it comes to luggage and security issues. Rail travel surely has to be the least stressful journey - the M8 and M6 might be relatively quiet north of Lancaster but once you hit the M6 in the North West it must surely be awful which is my experience of any journey between Manchester and Birmingham by road - HGV volume, almost constant roadworks @ 50mph, smart motorways with speed limit bingo and all the commuters especially around the conurbations.
  12. For those of us who ordered more than one wagon and did so as early adopters there was an offer of 5% off the price. How will that discount be applied, so far the charges have been the full price.
  13. My experience of Anglo-Scottish services is that they are a lot less loaded than the Liverpool and Manchester services. The off peak for trains beyond Preston is a lot more generous than from the Northwest, I used to turn up at Euston and have to wait till 7pm for the packed first off peak whilst my colleagues could get their choice of Glasgow bound services whenever they wanted.
  14. Ha, the Bolton route even if they don't actually stop in Bolton anymore. Actually, about half the TPE trains stop still but if they are not available to holders of Northern tickets into Manchester
  15. I ordered both SR versions, one was delivered this week the other is still on order. Dont know if having my credit card expire in the middle of the process has affected why only one so far or if it's simply because only one has been delivered to Rails so far.
  16. Of course, and I can see the attraction of a train that only stops twice between Birmingham and Stafford, and then there are the folk who get on at Stoke, where would you stop. My preference would be that XC operated decent length trains and then perhaps the overcrowding in the central core area of operation wouldn't be an issue and they wouldn't need to let people reserve seats en-route. I do wonder how TPE feel about not serving so many stations on the Preston-Manchester route now Northern has taken hold of all the services. I went on a TPE Manchester Airport - Glasgow train last week from Oxford rd, some TPE services have no longer even been calling there on their routes out I am not sure if that is still the case; but this particular service did stop at MCO but sailed blissfully through Bolton and didn't stop till Preston.
  17. What I find interesting now with TPE is that there are restrictions using them in the Manchester area, especially on the Bolton-Manchester corridor where TPE set down only and you have to use Northern services. Maybe if XC didn't stop at Stafford and Wolverhamton it would cut down on commuters, or maybe just apply ticket restrictions like in the Northwest.
  18. Makes for a better story than it was a light house. It could also have been an Area 51 type product test of defense penetration of some sort of spying equipment without ever telling the local airmen what it was - certainly giving it an other worldly type tint helped keep what really happened a secret. Or of course it could have been something from a different time, place or dimension - never rule out the strange or bizarre unless there is evidence to suggest otherwise. I was once driving around the Cheshire countryside on some pitch black roads, I have this vision of something chasing me and being alongside the car, I've always put it down as my imagination running wild whilst driving but what if it is a hidden memory and something did happen? The mind is a curious thing, everything within it is made up from stimuli and false beliefs can build very easily to become absolute truths in the mind if you're not careful.
  19. There was a similar Crewe-Cardiff service (it may have originated at Stalybridge) - used it once to arrive very early morning at Cardiff for a spotting trip.
  20. There's confidence in your product, seal the joint with vinyl as you don't expect a drag or joined up set. I guess all it needs is a Stanley knife (other knives are available.........but maybe a gas knife would be over the top and inappropriate)
  21. Shall I bring a Farish 03 along for sound and lights fitting.
  22. Always helpful when a mistake is made that someone else can capitalise on, Dapol's rendition will hopefully not have this issue and if it does they have time to engineer a change. Rather like rushing out the Terrier, although both teams made mistakes, Hornby released theirs to be first and Rails being second could go back to the CAD and alter theirs to be better.
  23. Not surprising really, they have plenty to choose from and now they have a couple of what appear to be excellent condition cabs.
