  1. I think we mostly remember them in BR blue hence our affection for the livery, thank goodness they didn't add yellow ends.
  2. After watching the video. the usual youtube selection of other videos appeared. @Andy Y why are you interviewing 2 blokes and an emu at the MRC
  3. Three people deep layouts - must be a GW thing, it was the same with Sydney Gardens. For wow factor there were a quite a few there but without the crowds: The steam/early diesel North American Mauch Chunk PA Chinese Steam/diesel Beijiao Modbury Brinklow Norwich Central The Lochty Branch Blackfriars Bridge Station The Tarrant Valley Railway
  4. Rails were doing brisk business with their Heljan 009 loco at £130 on Saturday, bit of a buzz around the 009 area. Online these were still £150 with Rails, so there are bargains to be had at Warley if you look.
  5. Does it go like the clappers though
  6. My problem was I was being tempted by the LMS side of my brain with Scots, Black 5s and Jubilees. But the best layouts are always in the west.
  7. And when I was young I thought the GWR livery was so simple - it's green, it has GWR somewhere on the loco and the coaches were a nice a simple yellow/brown. How wrong I was.....
  8. Please don't look in the NEC thread, it appears I've already talked myself into an N GWR branch, one last throw of the N gauge dice but I still might like a Mogul in OO.
  9. It is a lovely model 2mm FS never fails to impress me. As I was looking at various 2mm models in N and Finescale I was conflicted, when it is modelled well, 2mm is excellent but I just don't think I can do it justice and I see myself in the rough N department. There may be an issue for me when it comes to lighting and my eyesight, Modbury was well lit and at a nice height so I could see the detail - other layouts in N not so well lit and I struggled to be able to distinguish wheels/gears from the gloom, the other excellent 2mm model though in N was the WCML one which again was lit and positioned in a manner that I could see it all clearly. But in mentioning Modbury, you may have given me an idea for one last throw of the dice in N. Grainge and Hodder had a prototype end of fiddleyard turntable - a couple of those and a short 3 foot board would make a very nice little branch line model - short trains, short locos. I've had this yearning to do a Boscarne Junction type layout for years.
  10. I wandered around Warley on Saturday and in a bit of a black dog haze, my main task of the day was to decide if I want to retain my N stock and do another railway in N and how much of my OO stock to keep. Inadvertently I stumbled upon the Dapol stand and there was the glass cabinet full of Moguls - whilst the Hornby Prairie hasn't raised even a modicum of interest to me it was piqued by the Mogul. In a day of realisation that another N gauge layout is unlikely I did find something that means perhaps my OO gauge days are not completely numbered as well but I will need space for a turntable!!
  11. I bought my ticket in advance, not to get in at 9:15 and race to the sales but so I didn't have to queue on the way in. I guess a lot of people either don't like ordering online or simply don't want to plan too far ahead with things. But an advance ticket also availed of cheaper Virgin fares (this little benefit will probably go on the switchover). If I am going by train to an event now I tend to plan it advance and get all my tickets sorted, if I am driving then I do the on the day purchases but any big exhibition like a BRM, GETS or NEC I will book in advance.
  12. I saw BEIJIAO for the first time on Saturday, I am very impressed and your enthusiasm for the subject matter was self evident. Question, the hoppers you're using are they actual Chinese prototype or American wagons with new lettering? Some wagons looked distinctively Chinese but others looked like you're using American railroad items in lieu of prototypical wagons, of course the Chinese are well known for flattery by copying others so maybe these are very accurate representations.
  13. I went yesterday, arrived around 10:15, into the halls around 10:30. No problem with my Virgin service in, no issues getting to any exhibits and no issues with other people. I did get into a conversation with a chap about it being busy and I said it would quieten down as the afternoon progresses and it did. I left at 17:15, got my return Virgin at 17:53 and no issues, in fact with West Midlands on strike the station seemed positively quiet. Didnt spend a penny yesterday apart from a pasty for dinner. On the topic of the Bachman scrum, the prices are guides, haggle and you get better prices especially if you buy more than one item.
  14. It was mentioned. Same chassis with the rear pony truck added. Sensibly Dapol have forged ahead with the mogul first
  15. Conversations today circled around a93xx cab and then a four wheel pony truck.....

    CLASS 24/0

And I think Bachman reacted to the SLW version by opting to do the English version
  17. This thread should be in a general thread not Accurascale - the change in the market is being driven from a few directions.

    CLASS 24/0

Both SLW and Bachmann are doing at 24/1 - SLW the Scottish variant and Bachmann the English one. With Heljan also doing a 25 not sure what Sulzer Bachmann might attempt next as it's a sure bet that at some point SLW will go for a 25/0
  19. Unless there was an obvious immediate danger to passengers then withdrawal of the fleets is not going to happen - how would the GWML run it's services, the HSTs are gone. Similarly on the ECML the fleet of Mk4s is coming down though the HSTs still have about a month to go before they too return to their owner. Of course if the RAIB found an issue so dangerous that immediate withdrawal is required then you would expect it would happen, otherwise it will be restrictions followed by rectifications to resolve any shortcomings highlighted when the RAIB report.
  20. I tried it once with a floorplan, there was so much on a floorplan packed onto an A4 sheet that I couldn't figure it out so I gave up and just wandered about. I tend to stick to aisles and methodically work my way along - helps that I am not being attracted to all the sweet shops - just the bookstalls.
  21. And you're asking the BRM team in the BRM show thread this question. It will likely be announced on the Warley site once the current show has passed or you could post this in the Warley thread and one of the organisers might know the date.
  22. I would hope that those developing trains these days don't wait for a crash to ascertain crashworthiness. Just likes cars I expect early test bodyshells to have been submitted to various types of force in order to demonstrate strength and integrity within design parameters.
  23. I reckon that O gauge 14 coach APT-P announcement will just about fit down the inside of the 737
  24. I am actually thinking about future runs when the centre headcode welsh machines appear. What an SR/GW modeller looking at diesels!! Downsizing is coming and I have been thinking about something different that doesn't involve coaches and could exist in a couple of eras. Well it's that or I go looking for Geeps and Alcos at Model Junction.
  25. I'm sad you're not doing a 45 now, who would buy an as preserved 45015
