  1. Thanks Jason, if you could dig out the article that’d be great. Have tried a Google but nothing doing unfortunately.
  2. I’ll bite - the Spring announcement should be upon us very soon, does anyone know the date? Predictions?!
  3. Ooh, tell me more please! Wasn’t aware of that. Don’t think they ever turned up on cross-London freight did they? As someone who loves all things ex-GER, I’ve certainly never seen photos of them at Temple Mills for example, but not heard of them turning up at Hither Green etc either.
  4. LNER E4 please, easy enough for you to have scanned when you scanned the J69, and a nice complement to it as well!
  5. Worth noting that I spoke to Hattons earlier today to query my pre-order for some Genesis coach light bars and they’ve confirmed that these are going ahead along with the previously confirmed batch 2 coaches. So no need for myself or others to fret on the light bars which is good news.
  6. Disappointing set of announcements but inevitable I guess given the backlog, so understandable. Lack of new TXS profiles is disappointing too. I don’t think it’s fair to say they’ve given up on OO - they’ve made some pretty chunky announcements with lots of exciting new tooling the last few years and it’s their home turf, they will want to compete and will continue to do so. Hornby seems to get a lot of stick compared with their competitors, we need to give them time to settle down under their new leadership. Let’s see what the announcements later in the year bring.
  7. Very sad news, thoughts are with the staff affected. Not just the loss of a brilliant retailer, but a brilliant manufacturer too. Hopefully the IP gets sold on so all is not lost on that side of things, and here’s hoping those affected find gainful employment quickly.
  8. Thanks for this Rob, if you can find some photos that’d be great but I can picture it well from your description. I was just going to stick some fencing up on my platform but I’m pondering forming a small embankment behind might look more pleasing on the eye, even if it’s more work involved. I’ll have to cover that area in grass/shrubbery anyway. Remind me where you get your static grass from?
  9. Received an 8-pin chip and stay alive for Christmas (how does Santa know?!), and took the plunge a few days ago and fitted to my B12. It’s a tight fit squeezing it all into the tender but pleased to say it went fine and the set up on the app was really easy. Have used it both via the app and on my NCE PowerCab and runs really well. Sound is good quality for the price, I might upgrade the speaker down the line but absolutely fine for most people I think. For £63 including the stay alive, I’m very impressed, hats off to Hornby.

    Hornby D16/3

Thanks for that - not heard of that resource but I’m assuming this would be the one? http://www.transacord.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=22&products_id=38 As far as I’m aware any LNER D16 sound projects available online are generic, so I’m thinking I might as well save my money and go for a TXS chip which can be reused/sold on that gives a good approximation rather than paying £100+.
  11. Rob, hope you’re well. Any chance you could post some photos of Mutton on this topic please? Would like to see how you built up and covered the gentle gradient behind the platform as I’m thinking of doing the same thing. If you have any photos that’d be grand! Looking forward to seeing how your SECR venture shapes up. Cheers.

    Hornby D16/3

Resurrecting an old thread with a question if I may, do people think a D16/3 would’ve sounded sufficiently similar to a rebuilt B12 to use the same DCC sound profile? Reason I ask is I have the Hornby TXS chip in my B12 and for the price I’m very pleased with the sound and would like to chip my D16 using the same profile too. I’m assuming they would’ve sounded pretty similar - both two inside cylinder machines of GER design. I’ve looked for a D16 archive recording online to compare but can’t find anything - thought I would reach out and see what others thought. Thanks in advance.
  13. What I would love to see: • 62614 in Apple Green (great shout up-thread) • LNER E4 • Thompson BZ • Gresley D120 pigeon van • A Class 306 Predictions from existing tooling: • A blue NR 153 • A TfW-liveried 153/9 • 67027 in GBRf • Railroad 57311 in LSL black • 43274 EMR/Colas + 43277 Colas HST pack • 43007/008 XC HST Farewell pack New tooling predictions: • A 14xx - up to the latest standards with a working chassis seems an open goal to me • A Class 313, seems one of the biggest open goals available, 1976 right up until 2023 with a multitude of liveries and spread • Night Ferry stock I’d also like to see a big expansion of the TXS sound profiles available too, plenty of scope to broaden their offering. A J15 profile would be most welcome, but so would a first gen DMU to compliment their Railroad 101, or a Sprinter sound profile for their 153 or Railroad 156. Either way, looking forward to the 9th!
  14. Quick one for the chaps at Accurascale, is D5578 in experimental blue on your radar to do down the line? Would absolutely love one done to your high standards in that livery!
  15. Yes, yes, yes, bank card would definitely come out for one of those. Fingers crossed!
  16. Was thinking the same, 009 or 010 which have been running in undercoat for several months might make a good limited edition.
  17. Great to see Oxford returning to the fray at last! Wasn’t in for one of the cranes but that EP looks rather nice.
  18. Did not see this coming, particularly from Dapol but suspect this will be quite popular.
  19. I don’t model the WR but another excellent choice, will sell very well. 9741 as an oddball in Green with BR lettering is really tempting… Other than 97xx did 57xx variants work cross-London freight, to the likes of Temple Mills for example? As others have said a 97xx would be an interesting variant. Finally I’d echo Rob on an E4, but we’re getting the J69 so we’re already being very spoilt! Well done Accurascale.
  20. I don’t think it would’ve been Salisbury, that’d require an ecs movement at 03.xx. More likely to have been Clapham Junction or Wimbledon, a 158 can do more than one day without refuelling IIRC. Or possibly Old Oak Common as an outside bet?
  21. That’s an excellent photo, haven’t seen many photos of FNW at Euston in the early privatisation days. A pair of 158’s on the Rochdale as you say, and what looks like 322484 next to it on the short-lived direct Manchester Airport service.
  22. A newly-tooled range of Mark 1’s would be a good choice, particularly with a higher-fidelity interior, internal lighting etc. The Bachmann offering can be upgraded and there are plenty of different variants and a multitude of different liveries that can keep the money coming in for Accurascale for many years.
  23. I collected my LNER Brown one with BR lettering last week from Great Eastern Models. Had a very brief look at it before putting it back in the box for Christmas, but looks excellent and very excited to open it properly and inspect it. Thanks Rapido! Roll on the Accurascale J69.
