  1. Exactly! I'm building an Anbrico cast whitemetal GWR railcar, with a full length cast floor. As it was, the floor drooped and warped all over the place, so I had to solder on lengths of brass angle, in places where it would not be seen, in order to impart some rigidity. CJI.
  2. Darius, Exactly what I had in mind for my Anbrico W14W railcar and MTK Park Royal Class 103. Great minds think alike! Thanks, CJI.
  3. What adhesive do you use to fit your glazing, please? CJI.
  4. Andy, I have finally succeded - thanks to the assistance of your subscriptions helpline - it involved changing my password at your end to a temporary one, then me changing that to a new one. All good now! John.
  5. FAO AndyY Andy, I am still having no luck in completing my Premium membership subscription. Any assistance would be appreciated. John Isherwood.
  6. If you need them, you'll find some early ones on the CCT website. CJI.
  7. Perhaps the double fold is to produce a thicker fixing 'pin' to go into the hole? CJI.
  8. Please! My comments were not directed at you, but at the Hornby reps. who apparently made the erroneous statements. I neither know SK nor any other, present or former, member of Hornby staff, nor do I pretend to do so. To be absolutely clear - I was deriding manufacturers' staff who dish out, from a lack of knowledge, misinformation in answer to enquiries from potential customers. At no point were any of my comments directed at you. CJI.
  9. I am guessing that you have material for six hooks, as you surmise. What would result if you curved the strips in opposite directions at the two 'fold' lines - would that produce the reverse curve of the fire-iron hooks? CJI.
  10. A long shot !!! I have for disposal a large quantity of model railway and full scale railway magazines. The magazines are, in several cases, continuous runs from the 1960s, and occupy three book cases. The magazines, together with the book cases if required, can be collected from our home in Bodmin, Cornwall, at a mutually convenient time. If anyone is interested in acquiring these magazines, or knows of someone or some other organisation who may be, please let me know. The magazines need to be collected within a reasonably short timescale - the carpet beneath is to be replaced, and the bookcases are not going back! The alternative, unfortunately, is that the magazine collection will go for recycling. John Isherwood.
  11. Perhaps, but could you quote the number(s) that were authentic for that combination of features? Face it - manufacturers are aware of the demand, and would like to produce one or more milk tankers - but they are the ones who would have to stump up the investment. I would imagine that they are a little more cautious than you apparently are with their money! CJI.
  12. Whatever - if you don't know the answer, don't put your foot in it! CJI.
  13. Surely it would be better if sales persons who do not know the answer to a query did not make up wholly inaccurate response statements? All that needs to be done is to take down the questioner's contact details; promise to have someone with knowledge to contact them; and make sure that is what happens! CJI.
  14. Is it any wonder that many of us question the extent of Hornby's knowledge of the prototypes of models that they produce? CJI.
  15. Didn't you post this yesterday - and get no response? CJI.
