  1. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.....and thanks for all the entertainment!
  2. As a junior'ish modeller I created a 'flasher' which was tastefully hidden behind a tree....but often pointed out by the operators at exhibitions :)
  3. I managed to get swarf in my eye during basic trade training...like an idiot. After seeing the M.O. and having the offending article removed I was told to wear an eyepatch. The Medical Commander saw it and told the MO to "take the damn thing off as we may be Navy but we're not bloody pirates" :) I can recommend having your cataract removed. Absolutely amazing! Although all the colours look wrong now....white is REALLY white....!!
  4. Didn't we steal get the design for the Bren from the Czechs?
  5. I quite liked the LMG. A little bigger, but we were using Oerlikon barrels from 1944 into the 80's
  6. I was given a Sterling once in place of my usual SLR. I didn't keep it long! To hit a barn door you pretty much had to be next to it......
  7. Now the owner of a couple of these, early and late SR versions. I couldn't decide either!
  8. For 3ft English prototypes there's always the Midlands Ironstone Railways for a varied assortment of locomotive choices. Pecketts at Scaldwell, Manning Wardles at Kettering, and a mish mash of manufacturers at Waltham, Eastwell and others. No official passenger services, but some wonderful inspiration...
  9. Seeing as we don't have that many British car manufacturers left I guess they figured it was close enough......
  10. Fulliautomatix looks like he's had a haircut and a shave......
  11. What sad news :( My condolences to his family. I was fortunate enough to meet and talk to Iain many times over the years. In my youth, as a spotty teen with an interest in the light and esoteric side of railways and railway modelling, he was always helpul and informative. And he continued to shape my railway modelling inspiration, aspiration, and skills, over the many years since. Rest in Peace Sir, you will be missed by many.
