  1. IIRC, the power for the lights is transferred to the body from the chassis via 'plungers'. Make sure the contact area of each part is clean. Cheers, Phil.
  2. A few Shunters.... ( not sure if D0226 is classed as a shunter, or a beast of a machine !! ) Cheers, Phil.
  3. Great idea for a thread !! Didn't realise how many nameplate pics I've taken.... Just my 'castle' plates.... Cheers, Phil.
  4. I've got a full LNER rake fitted with Hunt couplings ( 9 coaches + DVT ) and it works fine pushing & pulling, around curves much tighter than third radius. Admittedly, it's a 91 pushing rather than a 67, but there's no issues at all. Hope you solve the issue, as the magnetic couplings make removing the coaches from the layout much easier ! Cheers, Phil.
  5. I've got 54 class 50's. A full set from the BR/NSE era, then 007 & 049 in GBRf livery, 031 in its current INTERCITY livery, & 044 in its current BR Blue livery. I'll end up modelling 035 in its current BR Blue livery, as I drove it earlier this year ( a fantastic way to spend a day !! ) Oh, and a 7mm Large Logo model, which will be turned into Fearless ( my favourite )...... So to answer the question, I'm pretty sure you can't have too many of anything.....😂 A full set of St Blazey RfD 37/6's ( 670 - 675 ) + 669 in Red Stripe Railfreight, are occasionally spotted together on the layouts depot too.....😆 Cheers, Phil.
  6. 37263, at the SVR gala on Saturday. I always rather liked this livery ! Cheers, Phil.
  7. The 2 37's featured at the ELR diesel gala a couple of weeks ago. Cheers, Phil.
  8. 25279, at the recent ELR diesel gala. A couple of pics of D5054 too ( I know it's a 24 ! 😆 ) Cheers, Phil.
  9. 47765, at the recent ELR diesel gala. Cheers, Phil.
  10. To match the prototype pics I was working from, the roof ribs were filed off, and the roof vents moved to the appropriate places, before a white undercoat was applied- A few blemishes were tidied up, then it was on with the livery colours. The Red stripe matches the width of the door hinges, which is handy for masking- Grey on next- Then the Blue- Which turned out to be nowhere near the same shade as the outer coaches, so it was re-done with a custom mix ! The seat unit was done Blue at the same time- Black roof was next, and finally the Orange cantrail stripe was added- Passengers were added in the same style as the outer coaches- The lighting board had the 'plug' soldered to the end where the 'socket' is inside the seats, and was glued to inside the roof. The windows were glued in place- Railtec 'no smoking' signs added, as well as the little stripe at the top of each door glass. The weathering was then matched to the outer coaches as close as possible, resulting in- Still needs a run on the layout to make sure I'm happy with it, but I think it was worth the effort to make the unit how I remember seeing them.... Looking at the pics, I've just noticed I need to paint the door handles and handrails Silver, that'll keep me entertained a little while......😅 Cheers, Phil.
  11. Been a while since I last posted......😡 Anyway, another project purchased at DEMU. Just before leaving the excellent exhibition, I popped in to the front hall, mainly to say goodbye to Mick (Newbryford), but found myself watching 'Southgate Park' again.... When I noticed the Thumper unit running round, and it was a 3-car set, just as they should be !! My 2-car set has always looked 'wrong', a lovely model but let down by its lack of length....😆 An enquiry to the very helpful Gent operating (sorry, I don't know his name) who explained the centre car is a Replica Railways 'kit' of parts..... Back to the Replica stall I go..... And I come away with this lot- A bit of prototype research was next, as well as deciding how I want the finished model to perform, comes up with a plan of attack for the build. I'll deal with the 'mechanics' first, and the aesthetics after.... The chassis was modified to take a DCC Supplies Symoba coupling unit. Before- After- The bogies were modified to allow the coupling cam to operate- The centre boss for the bogie was filed down, to give the correct ride height. I wanted to fit magnetic couplings, as per my previous HST coaches. A bit of testing to get the coaches as close as possible on our tightest curves, gave the result of the buffing plates almost touching on straight tack....😃 Plug and socket connectors were then glued in place on the underside of the magnets, and the wiring modified on the outer coaches to feed power to them- The centre coach had wires from one end to the other, via a socket for the internal lights ( making sure the polarities weren't mixed up!)- The lights were provided by a Bachmann lighting board found in my spares box, so the colour matched- A thorough test on the layout ensured all worked as hoped, before starting the aesthetics..... Cheers, Phil.
  12. A few more..... The bodies dumped on the floor are 375010 & 375020. Cheers, Phil.
