  1. Would that be the recent Acrylic rail colours or the 1960's/70's authenticolour range? 😉
  2. The shops the photographer stood in to take the piccy are a bit twee too. Whoever heard of a Shipping Butcher? There's a few views of the place on Britain from above.
  3. This one especially, but stick with it to the end. https://youtu.be/72UG18dubLo
  4. For the Bachmann model, I found both the Fox and the Modelmaster (not much chance in getting hold of those at the mo) etched builder plates and Ee roundels too small. The tampo printed plates compared to the prototype for size were OK. I wonder what the Hornby representations will be like for size?
  5. And the large circular cast Ee plate at the opposite end to the builders plate.
  6. Maybe they had heard that Bachmann was finally going to re-introduce their previously dropped, but to be upgraded class 04? "Calling rumour control, calling rumour control. Rumour control. Are you receiving? Over."
  7. So did some arrive at Hornby distribution or not or were we sold a bum steer? Have they been returned to the factory for remedial work/modification?? Will we see some before the Chinese new year??? Are the new delays due to climate change???? Were they shipped via Odessa????? Is that a turned up running plate I can see towards the front?????? Maybe they have been returned to have that poorly fitted handrail corrected??????? Can't wait to see what rumour control has to say about the latest speculation/assumptions
  8. Both to the left and right looking through my photos. A lot of pioneering railway talent up here in the Nether Region.
  9. Will tail lamps do? https://flic.kr/p/2e3ffb2 There's plenty more examples. When the Welsh type 3's began to be transferred to the N.E. in the mid sixties they initially kept their standard GWR lamp irons. As said above as time permitted and after heating to cherry red. the irons where "clinked ower" through 90 degrees with a big hammer to accept standard lamps. English Electric Type 3 D6819 by Tony Lambert, on Flickr Then the original irons were burnt off, leaving a witness mound if the burner couldn't be ar$ed to grind the remaining stub flush. I've also seen picks of NE "welsh" 37's with all four brackets but cannot find my references at the mo. Class 37 at Pelaw June 1967 by Chris, on Flickr

  11. Who's Phil Parker? Was he Laddy Penelope's chauffeur/coiffeur/chuffer? Whoever he is, I hope he gets well soon. Obviously a man outa my own boots.
  12. As there wasn't much chance of visiting, I have compensated by eating cake all day long.
  13. Surely you mean... I thinks that's the 6a from Manvers Street arriving.
  14. Bustimes.org is a half decent bus tracker/routes app to have on your phone thingy in these modern times. Maps, times and tracker all in your waistcoat pocket by Jove. Looks like some of the services recommended here are doing a version of the Grand Tour though. https://bustimes.org/localities/larkhall-bath Low & behest, it tells me the 6A will be going right past The Oriel in a few minutes time.
  15. Looks like he lost his entire troop from the photo. I've got a mate that could build a P4 layout to fit in that palanquin. Hmmmmm, scratches chin and glances skywards. I bet there was some Morris dancers bringing up the rear. (Shades of the Wicker Man?). Oh no. Sounds like ham and peace pudding stotties washed doon wi a bottle o dog. Could it be ...
  16. Aye, that Baden Powel has a lot to answer for... turning the yoof of tomorrow into young reactionaries.
  17. "It's all at the Co-op...NOW!" Mass produced excess. You couldn't beat the Arcade Dairy (Penzance) but I think it shut down about 45 years ago.
  18. You bet. Can also cut their own escape hatches in case of emergency. Will Larkhall? Nivvor hoard o him lyke. Is he well known in the railway modelling fraternity?
  19. Nice to see goats still being accepted as legal tender in some parts of the country. Would ferrets be acceptable on the door. I still have a few I need to get rid of.
  20. Whilst on a Lanky & Yorkie walkabout around Bill Brandt land the other week I came across this/these. Spent 5 minutes trying to get milk out of them, alas to no avail. Nice weathering though. It was expected that the milk may have had a metallic tinge to it. So it looks like my milking attempt may have had some merit. P
  21. Does it have its own officer Crabtree? "Ploose may I hov a kippy of the dooly nosepooper. We should be grateful that all the RAF bummers are still farting for our freedom".
  22. Wot, no lamposts? Pah!
  23. ... looks like the original may have been well under exposed and with transparency film not having the exposure latitude of B & W, the highlights have started to blow well before shadow detail has begun to resolve. Digitising has probably emphasized the contrast giving further colour shifts.
