  1. Thanks Graham, but as I said, I’ve checked the back to backs and they are ok. Noted however that someone else on here has had similar problems.
  2. It ‘hesitates’ over other points but doesn’t derail.
  3. My BR green 20002 arrived safely yesterday. Trying to run it in I found that it derails on one of my ‘standard’ Peco points every time. I know people say this, but it’s the only loco I have that does this. It’s not even on the curve, so it’s not a tight radius issue. It is as it runs straight over the point from the vee direction, I have a feeling it’s because my layout isn’t perfectly flat and the bogies don’t seem to have much ‘float’ to compensate. In comparison to my recently acquired, superb running, Accurascale Class 37, it is very disappointing. I have checked the back to backs and they are ok. I wonder if anybody else has experience this problem and can offer a solution. If not it’s going back for a refund.
  4. Hi Brian, that’s great, thanks for your help! I’ve changed the CVs and it’s now sorted!
  5. Hi all, I’ve searched high and low but can’t find where this may have been covered before. i recently purchased, second hand, a Bachmann Class 42 Warship with sound that has an ESU v3.5 decoder. I want to 1) reduce the brightness of the headcode lights and 2) increase the top speed. I would appreciate if anyone can tell me which CVs to adjust and how. I’m ok with reading existing CVs and inputting new values but need to know if more than one CV is involved for each change. Many thanks in advance for any help.
  6. Thanks for your prompt reply. It will be interesting to find out how different the clearance in the top of the body from the Kitmaster version is to the Bachmann DP1 version. I also have the Kitmaster Deltic that I fitted to a Lima Chassis years ago. It still works well, but the loud Lima sound can’t match the proper Deltic sound!
  7. Is that a Bachmann Deltic? I’ve just fitted a Hornby HM 7000 decoder to my Bachmann Prototype Deltic and the sound is very limited by the tiny speaker. Is the accurathrash speaker 8 ohms ( I.e. correct for the Hornby decoder) and does the body shell still fit with the speaker in place?
  8. Dead loco sorted! Phoned Rails this morning and spoke to very helpful Lewis, he suggested to remove the smokebox door (easy as it happens though I was worried before) and check the decoder wasn’t loose. It was, I just pushed it in and hey presto, all ok now. Unfortunately in these days of internet shopping, very often things get dislodged in transit. Hopefully they are easily fixed as in this case. I’m a happy bunny again now!
  9. My D1 with sound arrived this afternoon but unfortunately it is completely dead! It won’t work on DC or DCC, nor can I read an address for it. Rails are closed now, so I’ve left a message for a call back. They obviously don’t check these locos before they deliver them. For that kind of money, you would expect that. As they fit the decoders in the UK, why don’t they check they work?
  10. It isn’t just a livery change! I suggest you study the differences between the first batch and the rest of the class. The front end and valances are totally different. Also, the smoke deflectors are totally different to the SR versions they have produced. I hope you are right that they can ‘do them all’, but they haven’t done so yet although they’ve had six years since the first ones were announced.
  11. Hi Brian, fair enough! I guess I expected them to do the version I’m after, but it doesn’t look like it. I’ll just have to live with my Millholme model.
  12. I said BR, not SR. They haven’t mentioned that version in any of their announcements.
  13. Hi Brian, I’m well aware of that, but Hornby obviously haven’t tooled up the first series air smoothed BR version, so 2016 is irrelevant! Hopefully another manufacturer will introduce this version. Regards, Paul.
  14. You missed out a BIG one - first series original Merchant Navy in BR era (blue onwards).
  15. I don’t think a lot of people dislike adverts, they are part of our life these days, but those on RMWeb are too intrusive - can’t they be made so that they don’t ruin our reading experience?
  16. In which case, the traction tyres are probably the same as many other Hornby mechanisms, and should be pretty easy to get hold of.
  17. If I remember correctly, the Hornby 47 is similar to the old Lima chassis, so some Lima traction tyres my well fit.
  18. I have a Hornby King George 1 and it is indeed factory fitted with a TTS decoder. It doesn’t appear in the Hornby catalogue as it was made about five or six years ago as R3384TTS.
  19. Well I received my replacement Hush hush chassis today from Hornby, unfortunately it is as bad as the faulty one I returned to them a month ago. They said they had tested it. Perhaps they should have also said that it failed the test. I have written to them again and await their further instructions as to how I return it to them again. Did someone mention Hornby’s poor quality standards?
  20. Hi Tom, thanks for the tips. I have checked all the points you have raised as I had exactly the same problem with another Hornby model, an original Merchant Navy, and also cured it with a sliver of plastic under the clip, but this doesn’t appear to be the same issue here. I just hope Hornby will replace the chassis for me. If not, then it’s no more Hornby products for me, there have been just too many Quality problems.
  21. Hi Mike, I have now had the body off and confirm there are no loose mountings. I also took the opportunity to oil the bearings and gears, but it hasn’t made any difference. I have recently purchased two versions of the rebuilt W1s and they run quietly. I have therefore written to Hornby asking for a replacement chassis offering to return the chassis only as I don’t want to chance the body getting damaged in the post.
