  1. Gate number 1 trial fitted, mounted on a strip of brass and there's an operating rod going down through the baseboard.
  2. Doesn't everyone's inner six year old want to go 'Neeeeooow, D-D-D-D-D-D...'? 😲
  3. Happened to be in the shed (garage really) with the door open and there was a lovely orange pink sunset glow on the layout... And this was the sunset, although it had gone back a bit by the time I'd got over the road.
  4. And these are big buildings, as it is at the moment it's 415mm long, nearly 104 foot! and I've left the gents toilet off. Those GWR modellers have it easy with their tiny wooden sheds and a canopy...😁
  5. All buildings are scratcbuilt, definitely no kits for any of these! For the station building there's a basic front elevation in 'North Eastern Record Vol 1' of a Whitby-Loftus building, 'The Forge Valley Line by Robin Lidster has cross section drawings and 'North Eastern Architecture Vol 3' has half a front and half a rear elevation of Grinkle station. The weigh office is from 'The Forge Valley Line' and the signal cabin is a fairly standard S1 type, drawings in all sorts of places.
  6. Summer Saturday only autocar working from Scarborough to Stockton and return, calling at Chop Gate 11.15am.
  7. Freezing out in the shed tonight but managed to get a bit done earlier, land forming on board 1 is basically done. Then the goods train that was shunted yesterday departed.
  8. Building up the land profiles along the back of the layout using strips of plywood. I always cut the ends of adjacent boards together, makes life a bit easier...
  9. Don't know how often wagons were repainted, I would imagine many weren't after this livery change.
  10. Post 1911 as there's an NER G2 with large N E, could be a while after as it looks filthy.
  11. Wow! That's a bit orange. Cleaning the rail tops off improves it a bit. Nicely toned down.
  12. The ones on board 3 are done the same as the plain track, currently on with painting the rails on board 1.
  13. And now for a bit of paint. Rails and chairs have been given a coat of Vallejo 'red leather'. This all looks a bit bright and harsh! When this is dry or there abouts the whole lot is sprayed with a very thin coat, 50/50 paint/water, of railmatch 'sleeper grime' with about 5% black added. This tones down and softens it all nicely. There's still a bit to do but it gives a good basic track colour.
  14. No, the stonework is Slaters 0411 7mm 'Cotswold Stone', which is the smaller of their 2 rough faced stone.
  15. Perhaps it's Thursday, never could get the hang of Thursdays.
  16. Afraid I know very little about such things, they're as they came from Modelu, WW1 soldier on leave and WW1 Sargent. The colouring is pure guessing! (well, not quite)
  17. Yes, I don't think it would have been the easiest line to build, getting out of the top of the dale down clay Bank would have been a challenge. They overcame worse though.
