  1. Perhaps it's Thursday, never could get the hang of Thursdays.
  2. Afraid I know very little about such things, they're as they came from Modelu, WW1 soldier on leave and WW1 Sargent. The colouring is pure guessing! (well, not quite)
  3. Yes, I don't think it would have been the easiest line to build, getting out of the top of the dale down clay Bank would have been a challenge. They overcame worse though.
  4. Ballasting is going well, board 4 is done and board 3 is about 2/3 there. Its a bit chilly out in the shed so I've had the bring board 3 in the house to dry, the bit I did last night is still wet. Mrs WF hasn't noticed it as she's watching the Robbie Williams documentary...
  5. The video is set to 'Friends'* so only friends on facebook can see it, you'll need to either set it to public or put it on YouTube. * !!!😲
  6. Just steady away (and Mrs WF has been working lates last week and most of this...) Anyway, the B word has been started... Label on the old bottle has faded a bit, it's done a few layouts.
  7. Bit of progress over the weekend, the 'big field' at the north end of the layout has been built up. There's a small footbridge next to where the road crosses the beck, stone piers fitted and coffee stirrer planks of course, they will be left off until the water is finished. Ratio gate to get an idea what the yard entrance will look like. Probably wont use this one and it certainly won't have a small gate next to it. NER yard entrance gates were very much like level crossing gates, possibly a bit lighter.
  8. Making progress on the platform walls and surfaces, the copings are on and painted on the up platform (towards Helmsley) and the platform surface has been cut out so the station building can sit in it. The retaining wall around the goods yard has been fitted (Slaters 7mm cotswold stone) and the river bank started to be built up to it.
  9. NER cement coping, 4" x 3". Should be slightly 'chevron' shaped but it's only an inch or so...
  10. Progressing with bits of jobs, the platform surfaces are mostly cut out and the walls also cut ready, these will need to be painted and fitted then the ballast laid up to it. The structure behind the retaining wall between the beck and goods yard has been fitted, waiting for some stone to arrive for the wall, like the platform walls it needs to go in before any work on the beck can be done. A recess for the signal cabin has been made from plastic strip so it can be removed and a couple of bits of wood for a low wall behind it where it's been cut into the slope of the field.
  11. Definitely worth the trip up to deepest Northumberland.
  12. Switches for the uncoupling magnets have been fitted to the right hand end of the panel and suitable holes drilled through the plywood, I've also fitted some hinges so the lid will open. The space above the switches is for the track diagram with turnout and signal LEDs.
  13. Control panel coming on well, the plywood lid will hinge at the back and will need cutouts for the switches, the plastic will be glued down then holes drilled for the LEDs after the track diagram has been put on.
  14. Making good progress with the wiring all turnouts are now connected to switches on the beginning of a control panel. Not all those switches are turnouts by the way just 5 of them, they'll get coloured sleeves eventually. Movement and lights to tell you which way it is (or are least where it should be!).
  15. Further wiring is on hold until switches arrive so I thought I'd make a start on the bed of the beck and the road that runs down passed the goods yard and across the beck by a water splash. I've curved a section of wills setts, they're a bit big for normal setts but are fine for the larger sandstone blocks that would be in the water.
  16. I'm the opposite, I rarely run anything at home and even then it usually ends up with me tinkering with something.
  17. I think they're storage boxes for bits of unfinished wagons.
