  1. The poster is advertising accompanied children under 14 free!
  2. There was an exhibition for a few years about 12/13 years ago in the (rather optimistically named) Grand Hotel in Bishop Aukland, the show was in the function room next to the bar, and they often put on a small beer festival over that weekend in the yard around the back. This is kind of appropriate here...
  3. It's 1955 and J26 65763 waits at Greyscroft's up home signal with the pick up goods from Loftus.
  4. Used DGs for many years, first remember seeing them on a layout called Eivis (I think) from possibly Barnard Castle? then when I saw the late Andy Calvert making them up while demonstrating at Doncaster (remember the balcony in the old racecourse building?) I ordered some that week and I've been hooked (pun very much intended...) ever since. Normally only have to 'intervene' a handful of times during a weekend of shunting at a show. I build them with a loop at one end and delay latch at the other, I don't need to turn anything.
  5. One from Felton Lane quite a few years ago. Probably discussing leeks or pigeons or something.
  6. And of course it being Thirsk there's always a vet nearby for any sheepy ailments. 🐏🐑
  7. I've noticed that the driver is wandering off for a brew and left his mate to work out how to get it out...
  8. As many of you know I have a camera system to see the uncoupling magnets so I can uncouple at the correct time as the train is propelled over, I looked up at the screen late on this afternoon and spotted this... Of course it could only be Boris, holding up his phone to the camera with the test card on it...
  9. Don't think the shunter is all that impressed with the new North British wagon.
  10. The North Eastern favoured a very bent brake lever, even trickier in 4mm to get right. Not easy to find an etched lever long enough to bend up to replace poor cast ones.
  11. The Depots will be at the Goathland exhibition this coming weekend, come along and say hello.
  12. Coal and eggs and horse and cart. The very end of the Rosedale branch.
  13. Not done any wagonry for quite a while so today I decided to get a few bits finished. I've finished lettering and fitted couplings to 3 Midland vans (Slaters) and painted, lettered and fitted couplings to an NB pig iron wagon (51L). The NB wagon might just be spotted this next weekend on The Depots at the Goathland exhibition if you were to venture across the moors.
  14. If they'd kept the valves on the inside where they belong with some sensible valve gear it probably wouldn't have looked so bad...
  15. Saved from the scrapyard by the Pease family in 1856, they spent £50 on its restoration.
  16. @Tricky is the master of that 'Art', he'd be the one to ask.
  17. You should be good around second radius curves with the steps on.
  18. So where were the tea and biscuits kept before?
