  1. Whats wrong with Marylebone it works its a listed building and is well used so leave it alone go and build an ugly building somewhere else.
  2. I used to visit the cockle stalls at Liegh On Sea at least twice a week in the fifties they are the best in the country and a plate of cockles with lots of vinegar and pepper delicious!!!!
  3. Saw similar happen to van being shunted at Aylesbury in late sixties went up between platform two and three very quickly rectified and not a word to bosses well covered up!
  4. Just found out UK Government offering Turkey £600 million pound loan to electrify its railways and yet they have no money to do the same in the UK plus the cuts to HS2 . What a country we are
  5. The last post sums up this country and it is totally a mess all we can build is housing estates that just add to towns and no room made for cars or people , earlier a comment was made about how it seems as though people above do not want us to travel .they do not want us to move about.HS2 could have been a great project but all it will be is just another rail line and dont look to any incoming government they will have pet projects that please supporters and donors. They will ignore people who need help and the economy as they always do and one group in line for bad treatment are pensioners as we are considered a nuisance. The line to Risboro from Aylesbury should be open by the end of the month and I am going to take ride to see what has happenned at least it will be cheerful news.
  6. HS2 was a great project the engineering the people who learnt new careers ,the prospect of faster journeys all over the country, all we will have is a fast train to Brum and then as now onwards. Who is to blame the MP,s very well known for blowing with the wind on everything ,the DFT heads in the sand and all the opposition groups its amazing that the line is as it is now. When you see the progress in Europe new lines very often built close to houses etc all so much faster than here as well ,overall we are incapable of progressing in any way. Thats the doom and gloom the moving of the Risboro Aylesbury line is going well and progress outside of Stoke Manderville is now looking like a railway at last. The area around Wendover is one big building site with works going on from the tunnell mouths it looks amazing when viewed from top of the hills. I would recommend a trip down here to seeit.
  7. Now the chancellor is reported to be waiting for the budget announcements for the finishing of HS2 north and if this happens its goodby Tories.
  8. DB Cargo are onto a winner with those terms sight as seen are they only fit for scrap ?
  9. I do like the Northern livery on these units very smart and at least they are kept clean.
  10. So we are on the way to hearing the big anoucement saying Manchester wont happen, reading that the government wants to consult with the public to see if the line will happen makes me laugh .The desicion is already made and Birmingham is as far as it will go what a farce I bet that if they could HS2 would never have been approved even the Scottish do not want to pay for their part of the line and expect us to find the money . This project is one of the biggest farces that has occurred in our country I feel very sorry for the workers designers who are working very hard to actually enable trains to run.You have to wonder why the chairman do not stay for very long in the job do they get fed up with government interference all the time? You wonder just how anything actually gets built in the UK with the dead hand of the Treasury on everything they can to stop providing us services we need.
  11. Just been reading about discussions on the future of HS2 between the PM and the Chancellor ,it looks like its only going to go to Birmingham and Euston will not happen this means of course that further cuts will enforced on the project. One MP for the northern part of the route has demanded it be stopped imediately and no further work progressed, also one MP has called the whole project as being built to an outdated technology , he's an expert ? It looks as though many people in the halls of power have decided that we are not going to have a modern rail network and also the road network is not to be expanded as well. What a mess our country is , now in a heath service that is in steep decline ,manufacturing also declining ,and the UK in general decline I have not seen this situation since the years following the second world war . A change of government will only increase the power of unions and the idle god help us all.
  12. Did you take any photos at South Benfleet that where I used to watch trains when I spent my summers there good site a viaduct and long run alongside the sea/
  13. Reading the posts above I am very glad that I have no need to venture by train or car into London as for traveling by train it seems as the powers that be are doing everything to stop us traveling. What a mess is being forced on us and there seems no end as to the next scheme to appear .the railways should be seen as the way forward and reducing pollution but the DFT etc see them as nuisance in reality the system within the DFT is such that noone has the required expertise in any department they fetch up in. In Aylesbury we are seeing the demise of Arriva a well used bus route that went to our local hospital is to close followed by all of thier services alternative companies are supposed to be in the pipeline but what levels of service that remains to be seen. But we are lucky that we have direct trains to London and a good service that connects to the Birmingham London line and they are used in good numbers so we are okay for trains .I shall be sorry to see the loss of ticket offices here and at Thame Parkway as the staff are knowledgeable and friendly for there is no doubt that that they will go, the powers that be are not interested in the public or our need to travel . I dispair that this will ever change and am glad that my days of using rail for getting round our country are . over
  14. A lovely job that has real authentic look now
  15. Is this the first of many company collapses I can see the whole project grinding to a halt worrying for the electrification work this needs to be finished as soon as possible feel very sorry for workers and families ,worrying times.
  16. The class 305 was an excellent unit to ride on,very deep seats you felt enveloped as you sat down ,the speed was good and as they went faster a rock and roll effect was felt .Had many trips out of Liverpool St on them and even when it was freezing inside you felt warm also quiet all in all excellent units that did a good job.
  17. Will be going past the new road junction and rail bridge south of Waddesdon tomorrow will check on progress ,good to see Wendover Dean viaduct started .
  18. The moles have not gone away reading a piece of local public news about HS2 and events and doings around Wendover ,a group of people were discovered trying to dig underneath the line so as to hide there and stop work. What next will these anti,s do they are encouraged by so called experts that publish rubbish saying the line should be stopped and other rubbish.
  19. The last message really sums up big projects in the UK we cannot build anything that is essential to the UK without groups bleating they should have the funds and then the green world who want us to stop traveling anywhere or using a horse! HS2 is a project that will show its worth in twenty years all of the antis can only see now with the construction causing problems now, I say to them give it five years and you wont know the line is there. Locally construction is starting to ramp up in Wendover the bridge over the A413 and the Chiltern line is under way and the bridge work will be seen in November .The area before the tunnels in Wendover is taking shape and towards Aylesbury and beyond is taking shape rapidly ,the viaduct behind Aylesbury has been started. This morning I went to Quainton and where the A41 will bypass Waddesdon is really coming on ,roads are taking shape and the bridge over the railway is well underway and the bypass is started from the north plus the new A41 is built and ready when interchange is completed.Overall we are in an area of progress as they say watch this space!!!
  20. Hope you feel better soon keep looking at other layouts it will keep the interest going ,like your layout it deserves to keep going .Chris
  21. The extension sounds a good idea the scenic ideas are great and seeing your stock running through will be great.
  22. I just hope that Euston happens as I think once the line is operating to Brum this part of the line will be forgotten and we will only have a short high speed line ,but thats British planners for you.
