  4. The latest news from around Aylesbury ,afraid it seems to be going slowly, in Quainton just at the end of the station platform the road bridge is to be rebuilt by HS2 this will extend over the NR line and then over the high speed route. On the new A418 diversion near Stone and Hartwell the work has slowed considerably with no visible progress also the Thame viaduct is at a standstill ,I went through the Waddesdon Crossroads area on the way to Quainton and noted that progress has been made on road bases, bridges that will form the new junction from the A41 and the start of the Waddesdon bypass .Signs are warning of week long road closures early June so maybe we will be going to Quainton via new roads soon ,you can see the new A41 in place waiting for connection to the new road in the distance .This part of the world seems to be progressing with speed and you can start to work out just what will be in place when the work progresses .Not sure just what is going on at Wendover the bridge over the A413 and the railway is about to start and will be impressive and work is going on by the NR station but is difficult to work out.just what is happenning elsewhere .Thats all for now hope when I next report work will hve progressed.

  8. Privatisation has only worked in a few cases one of these is Chiltern it has a good management and the workforce go that extra yard to achieve a service that helps to grow passenger numbers .But they are a minority in a large number that dont seem able to come up with even a basic service ,the wcml is bedevilled by an absolutely chronic lack of trains that actually are available to passengers I tried to book a seat to Glasgow in February but gave up because of a useless website and this is the group who are supposed to run HS2 lord help us. But the lines worked by last chance groups seem to be prospering our goverment select the right people to run them maybe this is an omen . I think back to BR days with sectors this worked until poloticians messed everything up maybe if certain people takeover this will happen again. Its a real shame what has happened in the north as they seemed to have found a good pattern of services until it went wrong .Who will be next ideas on a postcard to the ministry !

  14. Dave the last shot at Liegh On Sea shows in the background a quite large boat being turned into a house boat ,there was one a bit further up that was an ex mpd and the gun was still in place plus the torpedo tubes always drew a crowd .I enjoyed walking along here as the boats were always of interest and you were close to the trains .Thanks Chris
  15. Its not just HS2 thats in trouble Hospitals, Doctors surgeries ,the roads , customs services at ports ,schools plus many other services that are in need of urgent attention very soon or this country will just stop to function .It doese not matter who is in power they have all contributed to this downfall since 1970 we have been led by fools so what is going to happen ? Answers please on the back of a ten bob note.
  16. Like the Southend line pics the seaside at Leigh is always a good place to be ,only went on ferry a couple of times always an adventure seemed to be to small but it got you over the river.
  17. I reckon that things have slowed down around here as the only obviously busy sites are Wendover and behind Aylesbury ,where the High Wycombe Rd crosses there is a brick abutment to the left and an enormous hole on the right .Where the tunnels are coming out is being prepared and the start of a bridge over the railway and the A413 is being started ,there is also the site where the Risboro branch has been moved which is nearly ready . But to the north of Aylesbury work is in progress to make the new road junction where the A41 is to join the Waddesdon bypass ,the new A41 is already tarmacked and visible .This is going to be a major road junction with the A41 going underneath and the road from Whitchurch being placed above ,the bridge sides were delivered and placed two weeks ago .Talking to the reps at a recent event I felt that work is definitely slowing down what a situation for the premier engineering project in our country.Only in Britain could this happen we are becoming a country that is going backwards this project should be charging forwards but no. indecision by governments so many people wanting no progress .They have even rewritten a couple Berty Wooster books because the originals could offend our nervous youngsters ,what next!!!!!
  18. Benson plays a major role within the RAF and probably will stay open for a long time ,the local air ambulance needs the base the houses can stay away.
  19. That looks just right the site I found the pics on is wonderful to view .
  20. looking at pictures of horse drawn boats the towing block is on right hand side just where the cabin ends ,the horse seems to have simple connection to the towing rope .I accessed this info by typing canal boats towed by horses plenty of pics and info keep up the good work.
  21. I think that Daft are still smarting that this project is happening and are finding any way to make it a failure even though they allowed the money to be available ,Aylesbury MK will probably be stopped .The attitude to this section seems to be we will teach these upstarts a lesson and also probably cut the buses as well ,there seems to be a wish that if we want to go anywhere we can only go by car over badly pot holed failed roads .If we go by car they gain in taxes so that way they win .
