Indomitable026
You sure you're not building a coffee table? Yes. Can you see any coffee?
Indomitable026
This is as far as I got - it looks nothing like a coffee table and sandpaper was harmed during todays exploits. Pub beckons

RMweb Gold Regularity Posted November 1, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 1, 2017 To which the obvious question follows... ...although, as a friend pointed out, it surely depends on whether you are filling it (starts empty, ends up full), or emptying it (starts full, ends up empty). And yes, that doesn’t help - if you start off empty, is is half empty, or half full when you reach the half-way mark: half way from being empty, or half way to becoming full? At this point, he reminded me it was my round and we talked cojones about something else.

Once I've sorted the drains out I'm hoping get a bit more board building done.
Indomitable026
Right, I've got a bit more time today so I'm going the enhance the coffee table. Here I'm offering up the two sheets that form the top to check for fit.
Indomitable026
First job is to cut out the corners around the uprights.
Indomitable026
Here are the two tops cut and offered up to the frame to check for fit. It's blinking freezing in the garage so time to move back in side.
Indomitable026
The board is back in side now. I'm just adding a couple of battens where the baseboard tops will meet in the middle. The other timbers are laid across the top to ensure the battens are dead flush with the top of the plywood.
Indomitable026
The last of battens going in. Next job glue the top on.

Indomitable026
Pub? Not occurred to me, but now you mention it, its getting that sort of time. I'll see what I can do.
Indomitable026
The tops have dried now. I've also had a look to see if the 'avoiding lines' would fit along the front.

If you were to reduce the 1st building by a few cm's in width (seeing its only half relief) and move things over, you might squeeze them in ! Im looking forwards to seeing this layout develop, You have captured that side of the depot really well. Look forwards to some more !!!! Indomitable026
I've got a day or two off so I'm going to do a couple jobs on the layout as I fancy. I'm undecided how to finish the left hand side at present. There's two options; box in and have a mouse hole or continue the scene - something I mocked up earlier. For now I'm going to box it in using a dismountable end piece made from an off cut of the baseboard top. Here I'm marking it up.
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted November 10, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted November 10, 2017 How will you disguise the end of the nearest avoiding line? If using a high bank, or trees, would that also work for the exit to FY line ( depending on the viewing height, of course)?

If using a high bank, or trees, would that also work for the exit to FY line ( depending on the viewing height, of course)? Probably can't disguise it, I'll have to go for the honest approach, either that or set the viewing height to 8 feet to the top of rail.
Indomitable026
The board is now fixed in to position with screws only - no glue. I've marked out the mouse hole. The tracks EM gauge stuff I have kicking around and the 25's on loan from Duck.
