Just for some idea of sizes here's some roughly contemporary vehicle widths: BL (Austin) Mini 4ft 7 1/2in (1.41m) Austin Maxi 5ft 4in (1.63m) Vauxhall Viva 5ft 4.7in (1.64m) Ford Cortina Mk3 5ft 7in (1.7m) Land Rover Series 3 5ft 6in (1.67) I know that I could fit my Landy in my Dad's garage and walk down both sides of it through the doors, which would suggest a 7 to 8 foot door aperture, however that was a biggish garage, probably larger than the average domestic one. RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted March 21, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 21, 2019 (edited) Thanks for those. The door measures 48mm in width. Assuming a scale of 7mm/1ft, that makes the door a smidge over under 7ft wide. Which, considering the garage was built in the age of the Austin 7 (w: 4' 3"), probably makes the door plenty wide. Phew. Edited March 21, 2019 by Stubby47 under, not over
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted March 21, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 21, 2019 'Old' version of the garage with blockwork, prior to being rendered. I need to clean the corner a little more.

Al. Even today a couple of years ago the last defenders were just 5ft 11 inches wide and the extra was just the rubber wheel arch covers, It's a narrow vehicle..
RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted March 22, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 22, 2019 Apologies to Stu, but this shows how much room there was round my Series 3 in the garage entrance: Admittedly, it was missing a few bits... Al. 3 1

RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted March 24, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2019 Do you think Shawplan do flush glazing for 7mm Minis? That looks great Stu, the sunlight really sets it off. I love all the subtle changes of surface near the gate as well, looks really good. In the second photo, the grass verge has a very sharply defined straight edge, could you break that up a bit? RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted March 24, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2019 (edited) Hopefully a bit more longer grass will help with breaking up the straight lines. I made a bicycle for Wheal Tiny which was placed next to the winding house. It was stuck in place better than I thought... A new frame is needed, me thinks. RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted March 24, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2019 #2 Bill still needs a final bit of painting to add shadows and facial features. The bike obviously needs the handlebars, seat and pedals adding. #1 Bill & #3 Bill also need a final bit of painting. I'll not be sticking any of the Bills to the ground, so precarious balancing and careful manoeuvring of the diorama will be required for the photoshoot. RMweb Gold Alister_G Posted March 24, 2019 RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2019 I've learnt a new thing today! I was going to say to you that surely the corrugated sheets should be overlapped and staggered as you would with tiles, but some quick googling seems to suggest that commonly that's not the case, and your portrayal is very much prototypical. RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted March 24, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2019 Why thank you, but I guess all credit really should go to Wills...
RMweb Gold Stubby47 Posted March 24, 2019 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted March 24, 2019 Wriggly tin sheets are overlapped by at least one corrugation, just not staggered by 50% as tiles are. I guess it's easier to fit and replace that way.
