Pete you will find that the word Culture is a generic term used for the comic acting.  UK government has a culture and media person.

Is that otherwise known as the PM? :jester:

Travel, culture & geography was quite a leap from being one of the best comic actors ever.

Maybe he worked his way towards it via insurance or banking?

& don't let him cut your hair...

I believe he couldn't be rewarded for the comic stuff due to it being such a long time ago. One of the reasons many of the older people get rewarded for "services to charity".

But as Sir Michael stated, much of his comedy is still frequently repeated or quoted, such as here on RMweb. Obviously Monty Python was a team effort, but his world travelling is his own work and is witty as always. Plus he's been doing it for decades.

Pity Ripping Yarns is almost forgotten.

But he hasn't done anything new that is remotely comical since Fierce Creatures in 1997. That's over twenty years ago!

A bit like giving a footballer an honour for something he did in Euro 96. It's well past recent memory.

I loved Ripping yarns, still watch em!  Golden Gordon, Across the Andes by Frog, Tomkinson's school days, great stuff!  very underrated.

Loved him and his shows, still do like to watch them but doing so means they seem awfully dated, along with a lot of the old BBC comedies.  Sometimes though, better than the current examples!

I thought he wanted to be a lion tamer?
