The Stirling to Euston plan is Grand Union, same as London to Cardiff. Grand Union is not part of GC, Arriva or DB.

Grand Union plans to use 91s with MK4s (well until new IETs enter service).

Thanks for the correction. I wonder if GC will have a trademark fight with GU? Definitely potential for the man on the street to confuse the two.

Unlikely considering both were started by the same person!

EDIT Beaten to it.

Same person won't matter, the question would be whether both existed at the time of the sale of Grand Central to Arriva.

There was 2 Grand Union trademarks (for rail purposes), both currently listed as dead, both were owned by Grand Central.

Grand Central does have a registered trademark.

https://trademarks.ipo.gov.uk/ipo-tmcase/page/Results/1/UK00003109423

So, unless the sale of Grand Central to Arriva explicitly excluded the trademark of Grand Union, and then on the basis that it would be used for a railway in the future, then things could get very interesting.

According to Railcam data some workings are light engine for route training.

Not all go as far as Blackpool and are diesels.

e.g. 0Z97 Crewe to Wigan & return, 16:18 from Crewe on Monday 2nd.

Not on RTT

Now on RTT:

The GC livery certainly suits the class 90 and mark 4s and DVT.

It looked good on their HSTs too when they used them a few years ago, although the power cars were buffer fitted so spoilt the front look a bit IMHO.

Wondering if that was a staffing stop?

Somebody ducks under the barrier towards the end as though they have just got off and are heading for the works release road.

Maybe they aren’t in order and it is pretty hard to see how it picks up speed, but they seem to be missing coaches D and A from the formations?

Matt

Another view here (19 minutes in) passing through Rugby at speed:

I made the formation in the above, which I assume is the same train:

90029, 82200, 11320 (G), 10321 (F), 12326 (E), 12477 (C), 12224, (B), 82227, 11321 (G), 10330 (F), 12323 (E), 12467 (C), 12222(B), 90026

EDIT

According to the info about the service it will be using a loco + 6 coaches, there are four sets plus a spare Class 90, I assume the DVT is included as 1 of the 6 coaches, so looks it like no "A" or "D" coaches in the formation.

If the breaking stories are true, then there may not be any more 90 repaints..........

More or less confirmed (99.999999 %) that these services have been cancelled sadly.

If so, then sad news for the GC staff.

Thank you both for informing us.

I have just read the press release and it's really sad news for GC, their employees, potential customers and us in the modelling, collecting, spotting and photographer community. It's a real shame because I was looking forward to seeing an increase in GC services, seeing the photographs and videos online of these Class 90 loco hauled services and I was hoping for a GC Class 90 by Bachmann in OO Gauge at some point.

Kind Regards,

Danny.
