RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted June 15, 2021 RMweb Premium Share Posted June 15, 2021 Bedale etc says 28 November 1996. Hexham etc a little later says “The day before Bedale (i.e. 27 Oct 1996)”. And does anyone know why that MR box had been "decapitated"? There does not seem to be a low bridge for it to hide under. Jonathan Kibworth lost it's roof in a fire about 2 years before the end, the flat roof was a tempory fix for a couple of years. During the time the box was being repaired East Langton was reopened. 1 1

RMweb Gold SHMD Posted June 18, 2021 RMweb Gold Share Posted June 18, 2021 Such a rich vein of LNWR Type 4 Signal Cabins at the moment. Abergele has no loo on the veranda but there is one just inside. The small window and the waste pipe/vent give it away. Whilst no loo on the veranda is not uncommon, I don't recall seeing one being located just inside the entrance. Does anyone know if this is original or a later addition/modification? My old block inspector turn up with permissive working regs while I was at my first box at Penmeanmawr, he said “you might need these...”. I said (confused) “where for....?” he said “you’ve got Rhyl GP relief...” little did I know at the time it wasn’t going to be, due to an admin error the person who got the job had been reduced under the old clause 9. The person who got the job is the owner of the Lada car in the above photo, so if things had turned out differently there might have been either a Honda MTX125 or Ford Cortina Crusader 2.0 in that photo above.... 3

In sequence it's between yesterday's Boldon Colliery and East Boldon so it's in that neck of the woods. Edit: beast66606 tells us it's Tile Shed. It's also another for the classic car folks out there. Is that an Alpha Romeo badge below the number plate? East Boldon Thats definitely an Alfa you can tell by the rust along the bottom of the doors!!!!
Poor Old Bruce
Most of Anglesey's intermediate signal boxes have already been well covered but I'll throw in these two shots of Llanfair,P,G as one of the more interesting boxes before moving straight to Holyhead next time. Built by Saxby and Farmer, c1871 (that makes it 150 years old) for the LNWR. Photos taken 5 Aug 1987.
