67A
Cheers guy's, I have just built a spray booth in order to do a fair bit of weathering as and when I get some time e.g. whilst waiting for the paint, mod-roc or something else to dry or harden. I can't imagine my loco's arriving on shed mostly ex-works as they are, I'll keep posting the updates to show the progress. Cheers, Mike
67A
Hi all, Needless to say, been very busy recently but some progress has been made on various sections, hope you enjoy the photo's...... Diesel Depot building now well underway with some detailing done.. Steam Depot, only a few items updated but the loco that started it all is on shed Jubilee; 45629 Straits Settlements. This was my first cop in 1962 at Corkerhill MPD, the rest is history... Daily stores supplies arrives behind a Fowler 4F General views of other sections showing the progress, the factory took quite some time to build and still requires much detailing, the cobble street scene is a little hastily done just to get an idea and may be rebuilt prior to layouts first outing.
67A
Hi Guys, Thinking about the members day on Saturday which I will be attending I thought perhaps a insider view of my modelling den would be in order by way of introduction to new faces, I have also uploaded pictures of my recently constructed spray booth which comprises of some old melamine, a pre-owned cooker hood and some IKEA spotlamps and an extractor fan, the whole ensamble cost under £50! First of all here is a few views of the modelling area with Bermuda Road in the background This is the workshop section Here are a few pic's of the spray booth IKEA spotlights and cooker hood illumination give good coverage Extractor fan expels fumes to outside With that I hope to meet some familiar names at the members day on Saturday. Best wishes Mike

67A
Hi Terry, Thanks for that, keep looking on ebay, I got lucky as this one was even clean and hardly used. The members day looked well attended but perhaps a few formal introductions would have been nice. Your clubrooms are a credit to you and your society, our committee meeting was last night and only 6 attended, we need 7 for a quorum so again no decisions taken. As chairman I will be offering a new slogan for the society this month "OUR DISINTEREST IS FINAL" ! Best wishes and keep up the good work. 67A
Hi all, After a considerable absence on the forum I thought it was about time I offered an update. Here are a few shots of Bermuda Road showing the progress since the summer. View showing the daily stores train arriving behind a 4F View of the MPD with Jubilee 45629 awaiting its call to duty. Head on view of the MPD with several loco's on shed showing the joint ex:LMS and ex:LNER history The Jinty is removing the Bogie Bolster to allow the stores vans to access the loading dock. The loading dock scene as a Scammel Scarab awaits the arrival of the stores train General view from the rear of the MPD toward the triangle exit routes The industrial nature of the location is shown with a view of the engineering works The layout is progressing well and should soon be available for exhibition, there are a few more scenic points to address before I tackle the loco's and stock and get rid of the 'shiney' look to most of them at present. 45629 is awaiting a replacement tender top in riveted pattern as a priority. This was my very first 'cop' many years ago at Corkerhill MPD in Glasgow, happy days! Will upload a few pictures of the Diesel TMD over the next day or two. Happy new year to all... 67A
Hi James, Just for you...Well I was going to post some in a few days but here they are. Still some work to be done on this section as at the moment its detached from the main layout to save me ducking under, I thought old age was a burden not middle age! Class 25 arrives with fuel oil supplies Ditto Ditto Class 03 is having attention Class 08 going for fuel supplies Class 25 at fuelling point Ditto General TMD view Ditto Class 25 fuelled and awaits instructions The depot building is fully scratchbuilt and contains flight decks with some minor detail at present (more to be added). There is full internal lighting to the main building and adjoining office, there is also an Arc Welding module fitted under the flight deck which gives good effect. The sliding shutter doors (non operational) add a little colour to the scene. Cheers Mike

67A
Hi all, Spent the last few days of my holidays wiring up the lighting which is in place at the MPD area. The TMD building is wired but I need some small 2-way connectors to allow removal of the building. I have also illuminated the signal box, water tower, coal stage and the factory loading bay. I have made some brass 60's style floodlights for the TMD yard and require some brass ladders to finish prior to fitting, hope to get these at either Stafford or Harrogate next month. Will upload a few pictures hopefully tomorrow. Cheers Mike
67A
Hi all, Needless to say it took me a week to actually upload the night shots but here they are, they are only taken with a digital camera without flash so please excuse the quality, at least you can see the 'atmosphere' I hope.. 45629 taking water at the triangle spur Signalbox on 24/7 duty (roof should have been secured, oops!) TMD frontage with Peak D67 and Type 2 Sulzer Fuelling point with D1 Scafell Pike Overall view of TMD buildings Signalbox again General view of MPD Bit of an Eastern flavour with 60052 Prince Palatine, 60024 Kingfisher accompanying a 9F A B1 coming on shed The B1 again 60024 Kingfisher, my favourite member of the class The 9F with a 2-6-4 Tank behind The MPD interior Overall view of the TMD Hope you like, will try to get better at night shots. 67A
Hi all, Finally got the layout back together following the lighting modifications and checked all the electrics, needless to say the odd gremlin invaded but all is now well. My final hour or so yesterday was spent touching up a few Diesels, fitting headcode discs etc. I have put a few pictures on for your perusal, I think the '08' is the 1st candidate for weathering! Mind you, D4192 was new to traffic 8th September 1962 so perhaps it should be clean! However it was first allocated to 30A Stratford which is Two Hundred miles south of where the layout is supposedly located so I think a renumbering and weathering is in order. As a point of interest were the outside ladders not fitted to the later members of the class due to electrification issues, I am sure someone will know. Class 44 D1 Scafell Pike and Class 20 D8046 now fitted with headcode discs (I know TOPS codes do not apply at this date but its easier) D1 refuelled and ready for its next duty. 67A
Hi all, Been quite busy leading up to the L&Y DCC exhibition in May. Most parts of the layout are taking shape with quite a bit of scenic detail having been done. I have also been busy trial running most of the loco' stock which is very time consuming but necessary as I don't have a continuous run, I don't want sticky loco's on the day. I have also built a Genesis Brake Tender kit over the past few weeks and painted it today, if all is well I should be able to apply the transfers tomorrow. This is an item I have longed for for many years. Not a bad kit to put together especially as I have not done much kit building for a quite a while. I also have an 'Austin 7' and a 'Super D' kit to rebuild the boilers prior to the show. I got them secondhand and the boilers were badly constructed but the tenders were fine, a repaint will also be required. There is a major scenic area which is still being planned and therefore may not feature at the Manchester show, it will all depend on progress. There are currently no plans for any 'railway' on this, but plans can change! I will clear things up somewhat tomorrow and hopefully upload some pictures. All the best, Mike

67A
Hi all, Attended the LYDCC exhibition at Manchester at the weekend with Bermuda Road for its first exhibition outing, thankfully we suffered no major problems and in the main the layout ran pretty well, a couple of point motors became troublesome but we got round it one way or another. I would like to thank the members of the LYDCC group for inviting Bermuda Road and congratulate them on a excellent exhibition, the venue is superb, real HEAVY DUTY as my friend John put it when he picked up his cutlery! Here are a few pictures at the show, probably not the finest for content but I was trying to please the paying public rather than myself. Heavy duty traction at the Diesel Maintenance depot Jubilee 45629 'STRAITS SETTLEMENTS' taking water at the triangle Depot 'PET' 45600 'BERMUDA' on shed with breakdown crane at the ready Ash pit gang are hard at work The main street with tram crossing for return journey The factory is in full production Stores shunting at the MPD The MPD entrance, signs courtesy of 'Sankey Scenics'. I am delighted with the quality and service from Allan. A bit of sorting out at the yard and stores is going on I hope that anyone visiting the show enjoyed the comings and going at Bermuda Road, the triangle concept raised a few eyebrows which was the general intent when I started the project.
