kevpeo
It may be a while saxo, as its a 29 and a 25/0 on the bench at the mo! Speaking of which, this arrived today to become said 25/0. She's already been sound fitted with Jamie Goodmans sounds so its on to more research. Kev.

kevpeo
Thanks Module, it is/was a very nice model, but I think the waranty is now void! Boiler exhaust and other attachments plus water tanks removed now makes it ready to become a 25/0. In fact after checkings books and photo's last night, it turns out that out of the 25 25/0's, 10 had bigger fuel tanks (16-25), and out of the other 15 only one had matching details for my time period. So 25 003 it is! Kev.

kevpeo
With the two new loco's ready for service, it was time for the 37's to have a rest and the 70's fleet to come out to play. First new one- 29 008 slows for the token exchange with an oil working for Inverbeg. 6112 was the eighth 29 conversion numerically, so 008 it is. It has kept its original number under the secondmans side window though! Both loco's are on 'light duties' for now, the other one, 25 003 arrives in the other direction on an inspection saloon - And promptly failed on its first outing! The not uncommon problem of dodgy pickups on new Bachmann stuff. Easily sorted and runs very sweetly now. Kev.

kevpeo
No sorry Saxo, my modelling time is being taken up by EMU’s at the moment! Saying that, I tried to live with the Bachmann speaker in 25 003. But no longer - It was rubbish. So after cutting the PCB in half and a little rewiring she is now fitted with a Rail Exclusives speaker. Much better! Now just have to get the body back on and see if the lights still work at one end! Kev. edit - As I suspected, after reassembly she sounds great, I had to turn cv 63 down! But I have lost the lights, but to be fair, they were too bright anyway, even after turning down to minimum. So not that bothered! kevpeo
After a long period of “no mojo” a slow awakening begins, hopefully! The 80’s fleet is being given a rest and the baby sulzers have come out for a play. This is the first time in a while, and after getting all the stock on it was obvious that it wasn't enough! So, I’ve decided to add a mk1 sleeper rake to the roster! This involved a shuffle around and some shopping! All the new arrivals have been “tweaked” and are now awaiting weathering, which has been awaiting paint supplies. While in a shopping mood I also slipped and and bought another one of these! Well, you cannot have too many 37's. can you? To become my nemisis, 37 409. Every time I did the West Highland sleeper it seemed to be on it! It will be fitted with the Jamie Goodman 37 decoder, which I've had running 'on the bench' and is awesome! I'm not sure which speaker(s) to put in it yet. For some reason the nameplates from Fox have two pairs included? Kev. Edited February 19, 2021 by kevpeo tidy up
kevpeo
Well it's been a while but I figured I'd better get my finger out, as Loch Dour will be having it's post covid 'comeback' at the Maclesfield show at the end of March! Stockwise, a few wagons have been added to the 70's fleet as well as more coaches, including the sleeper rake seen here - The first one is converted to a composite with a few roof mods. For the 80's fleet 37 409 is finished and the 'other' Kev's 37 404 is ready for re-assembly. So all I have to do now is service all the stock and clean and pack the layout! kevpeo
The new boys, if you call 1986 new! 404 is going to need to need its roof weathering redoing after Mac show as the paint has not taken! The joys of being too cold this time of year!
meanach
Great to see one of my favourite west highland themed layouts is coming back to life . I may try and make that show if it’s there .
kevpeo
Say hello if you do make it Meanach. The plan is the usual 70's era Sat and tractors Sunday! Kev.
meanach
So , the million dollar question is … have you gone for Bachmanns latest w/h 37 offerings or are you holding out for Accurascale ? (They did assure me 3 years ago the original West highland 37/4 locos would be done !) Edited January 3, 2023 by meanach Missing info
kevpeo
😀 The answer to that Meanach is nether! I have had an accurscale Deltic to test, and was very suprised to find it could handle LD's corners and hills, but the couplings couldn't! So a sound fitted 37 is on the shopping list for the 70's period when the correct version comes out, as for the 80's, I'm sticking with what I have.
