BernardTPM
My Dad took a picture of a similar Spit. back in 1956 at RAF Waterbeach. Took a bit of adjusting for the Agfacolor neg. but softening the colour brought out more of the detail.

I have a real one, a 1942 Ford GPW, ex British Airborne. Cheers, Ade. Thanks for info, Ade. The paint was something that was puzzling me. An interesting vehicle to drive, I would think. Driving position doesn't look too comfortable though. Cheers, Bill
RMweb Gold Adrian Stevenson Posted January 12, 2020 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 12, 2020 I have done some miles in mine over the years. You do get a numb bum! I took to to Arnhem 13 years on the trot, until the cost of the ferry and fuel made it just too expensive. Cheers, Ade.
railroadbill
Must have been a series of interesting journeys. The Dutch always seem very friendly in my experience. There was a very large mass parachute drop in 2019 at Arnhem for the 75th anniversary. I had a long journey years ago across Spain to Morocco and back in a lightweight land rover where you sat on a seat squab on top of the petrol tank. Thought I'd gone deaf afterwards....
