jonas
I'm going to chime in here too. This is one of my favourite layouts on RMweb - how's progress going? I would love to see some more!
Popular Post andy stroud
how's progress going? I would love to see some more! I am working my way through about ten buildings that will go on the station end of the layout, although many of these are just huts of various designs. I have just finished this pagada hut. I must admit, I thought that there were more of these still in existence on BR during the 70's and 80's but when I started looking for pictures, I found very few. There was the one on the Newquay branch and of course, the two at Appleford. The corrugations are 0.3 microstrip, same as the lamp hut. The windows are the same brass etches as used for the locking room windows in the signal box. I have also just finished this farmhouse, based on a real one that I saw from a train window. Hopefully, class 37's will be rumbling past very soon! Many Thanks, Andy Edited July 18, 2015 by andy stroud 20

RMweb Gold bcnPete Posted July 19, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 19, 2015 (edited) Lovely stuff Andy - did you make a plasticard shell and then apply the microstrip individually? Edited July 19, 2015 by bcnPete
andy stroud
- did you make a plasticard shell and then apply the microstrip individually? yes. The basic shell went together in an hour or so, the application of the microstrip took quite a bit longer! It isn't actually very consistent, but I think the overall effect is ok. cheers, Andy
Bangor Lad
Have you tried Evergreen N scale car siding? I think it makes great corrugated iron in N/2mm? I'll try and dig out some photos of mine to see what you think.

Hi Andy Here are some examples of using the N scale car siding. All are work in progress and need to be finished. Hope this is of some help. andy stroud
Well i have learnt something today! I have never really explored the Evergreen range. Many thanks for the suggestion. Very lovely buildings as well, by the way. Andy
bridgiesimon
I also would be interested in where that corrugated sheet came from, any ideas on uk stockists? looks really good! Best wishes Simon

The half round section makes really nice rainwater guttering Cheers
Bangor Lad
I also would be interested in where that corrugated sheet came from, any ideas on uk stockists? looks really good! Best wishes Simon I think you can get Evergreen from most reasonably well stocked model shops (if you can find one!). Failing that, I've been able to get it from the usual mail order sources. Bangor Lad
aaaargh, just seen how much it is, £6.75 a sheet!!!! Simon Hmmm but it does last quite a while, unless of course you're building something like an aircraft hanger
Grimleygrid
Hi Andy, just catching up on your thread. Excellent work, the viaduct looks superb, loving the 37s on the china clay, quality! Whilst I do not model in 2mm, I can thoroughly recommend Evergreen sheets. I have used them a lot on a few different projects and their range is very good. andy stroud
The station building is based upon the one at Silverton, which was situated between Tiverton and Exeter, although I have missed off some of the twiddly bits! I'm not sure how to paint it. I was tempted to do a Chocolate and Cream job although I'm not sure if it will look odd as the other station structures like the footbridge, pagoda and signal box are all BR grey.
bridgiesimon
I think I would be tempted to stick to the cream walls with chocolate window frames liek the original. Great looking model, well impressed! Best wishes Simon
andy stroud
Thankyou Simon for the thoughts. The attractive paint job in the original picture is what made me consider the Chocolate and Cream. Only thing is, that is a 1960s picture and my layout is 70s and 80s when most buildings were grey. If I thought it wouldn't look odd against the grey footbridge, I think I would go for the Chocolate and Cream. I'm not going to hurry into a decision as I've got several other buildings on the go. RMweb Gold Revolution Ben Posted July 29, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted July 29, 2015 Hi Andy, Lovely buildings you're building there! I would thoroughly recommend Evergreen sheet and strip. Nowadays I find it's pretty much the only plasticard I use due to its high quality, extensive range and consistency. I don't know where you're based but I get all mine from my local shop Trains 4 U in Peterborough - they have a very comprehensive range. cheers Ben A.
Popular Post andy stroud
Time for an update. I have spent the last few weeks making buildings and fittings for the area around the station, which was looking a bit bleak before! The larger buildings are all based upon real ones, mostly around the Stroud area where I live. I have had my first attempt at constructing a signal in N gauge using brass and etched parts supplied by Model Signal Engineering. It isn't perfect by any means but I am reasonably pleased with it. It can be seen in the image above. The clayhood train is sitting in the goods loop which runs behind the station and signal box. I am not aiming to make these signals operational. The next picture above shows a close up of the station showing the footbridge which I built a couple of years ago.The phone box is from Model Scene which comes as a two piece kit. Strangely, I couldn't seem to stick this plastic together with any glue at all, including Plastic Weld, Mek Pak and superglue. In the end I used ClearFix which I had used to glaze the spectacle plate on the signal. The railings are from Scalelink. There are still a few details to add around the station area but I think all the main structures and fittings are in place now for this part of the layout.
