RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted August 16, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 16, 2021 Friday 13th August saw the completion of the delivery - fortunately I don't suffer from friggatriskaidekaphobia Eccles Road 13/08/2021 (Friday) 66136 on 0Z59, 04:58, Toton North Yard - Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg (08:49) - light engine, to collect train which had been left on 09/08/2021 due to late arrival The path for this only appeared overnight but my spider senses were tingling and they were right. Having collected the 8 MMA which remained loaded from the earlier late running, they were taken for unloading. 3 hours later 66136 propelled them back to make up the full train of empties prior to departure, the stone pile to the left is all that remains of the load. The track is sharply curved here, I'm standing next to the line the 66 is heading for 66136 then ran round the empties so the loco was at the correct end, ready to propel out and then head West, 3 1/2 hours later, during which the driver and ground staff basically get bored shirtless, the train is allowed to propel out and depart. 66136 propels 4Z88, 15:00, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (19:07) - empty stone (16 MMA) from the Exchange Sidings And off we go ... 66136 on 4Z88, 15:00, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (19:07) - empty stone (16 MMA) Until the next time ...

RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted September 3, 2021 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 3, 2021 Tuesday 31 August saw another Eccles stone and another (well the same) rake of JNAs Eccles Road 31/08/2021 (Tuesday) 66111 on 6Z59, 04:30, Toton North Yard - Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg (08:52) - loaded stone (16 grey JNA) First 8 off for unloading In the Exchange Sidings waiting to propel out and depart for Toton 66111 still carries the remnants of the stag logo A pair of 66s were booked to run from Norwich to Whitemoor (to work an engineers) passing Eccles Road a good half an hour before the empties are booked to depart so I went onto the station to catch them and - can you guess ? - the empties were given the road, trapping me on the same platform, ho hum, a different view of the empties I guess. 66432 and 66108 on 0P01, 14:10, Norwich T.C. - Whitemoor Yard L.D.C GBRF (15:46) pass 66111 propelling 6Z88, 15:00, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (19:07) - empty stone (16 grey JNA, 8 still loaded due to oil leak on grab) from the Exchange Sidings 66111 on 6Z88, 15:00, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (19:07) - empty stone (16 grey JNA, 8 still loaded due to oil leak on grab), Paul hands over the paperwork and collects the radio and off we go (UM = Up Main, reads to the signal in the distance showing green)

RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted July 2, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 2, 2023 Been a while but perhaps it's time to start posting again .. Traffic has continued to Eccles Road, sometimes weekly, very rarely twice weekly and more often a few weekly trains then a gap of a month or 3. Since my last post I have bought myself a Canon R6 Mk II and a couple of lenses to go with it, additionally I bought an adapter to allow me to use my older lenses and the great news is my 100-400mm zoom on which I often use a 2x converter (making it 200-800) is now fully functional, on my previous EOS 5d it was manual focus only. Also since my last post the incoming loaded train has been recoded from 6Z59 to 6L92 Here's the latest load. Eccles Road 27/06/2023 (Tuesday) 66133 on 6L92, 02:11, Toton Up Sidings - Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg (07:14) - loaded stone (16 MMA) The first 8 MMA are taken for unloading. 66133 on 4M88, 11:56, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (17:07) - empty stone (16 MMA), waiting to propel from the Exchange Sidings The train propelling out onto the down main, this is about 600m away from me, demonstrating the 800mm zoom in action. And away to Toton we go

RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted July 22, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 22, 2023 (edited) Another run this week. Eccles Road 18/07/2023 (Tuesday) 66181 on 6L92, 02:12, Toton Up Sidings - Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg (07:14) - loaded stone (16 MMA) into Eccles Road Exchange Sidings Compare this with the shot in the previous post and you can see (hopefully) that the wagons are being propelled into the road nearest the running line, rather than the outside road - this makes it a lot tighter on the running round after the train has been unloaded, not impossible of course, but a lot harder. The usual guy was sunning himself in Spain so one of the other guys covered the job. 66181 takes the first 8 MMA off 6L92, 02:12, Toton Up Sidings - Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg (07:14) - loaded stone (16 MMA) for unloading as 755409 on 1K59, 06:33, Norwich - Cambridge (07:53) draws to a stop. 66181 on 6M88, 11:56, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (17:07) - empty stone (16 MMA) waiting to propel out of the Exchange Sidings Demonstrating the rural nature of the sidings (at Eccles Road) And once again, we're off to Toton with the empties Edited July 22, 2023 by beast66606
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted July 28, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted July 28, 2023 Tuesdays run was headed by 66133 (annoyingly this loco has worked the train 3 times in the last few months) Eccles Road 25/07/2023 (Tuesday) 66133 on 6L92, 02:11, Toton Up Sidings - Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg (07:14) - laoded stone (16 MMA) Propelling into the Exchange Sidings Taking the first 8 MMA for unloading 66133 on 4M88, 11:56, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (17:07) - empty stone (16 MMA)
RMweb Gold beast66606 Posted September 11, 2023 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted September 11, 2023 I've left out a couple of workings, traffic has been a bit spasmodic again but another load arrived on 05/09 Eccles Road 05/09/2023 (Tuesday) Second raft of 8 MMA off 6L92, 02:11, Toton Up Sidings - Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg (07:14) - loaded stone (16 MMA) wait their turn for unloading in the Exchange Sidings The train ran 50 mins early, I woke as it was nearly at Eccles Road, I rushed out and despite the fog it was looking like I'd make it but defeat was snatched from the jaws of victory when a tractor held me up for the final few hundred yards and so the train was already reversing into the sidings when I was approaching the station, I made the decision to go to the field adjoining the siding, fortunately I met the groundstaff as he was splitting the train and wandered back to the loco with him additionally the sun was in (unusual for the week in question), had it been out it would have been wrong side, so I took a few shots as the first 8 MMA were taken for unloading. The second raft of 8 MMA await their turn under the grab (honest) The weather had cleared somewhat when the empties departure time arrived. 66110 on 4M88, 11:56, Eccles Rd Johnston's Sdg - Toton North Yard (17:07) - empty stone (16 MMA) propelling out And off
