flyingsignalman
Most probably the rear doors were there to allow the S&T access to maintain the interlocking, connections etc. Edited October 25, 2015 by flyingsignalman

No so here. Where would the interlocking be? Behind the frame?
Indomitable026
Boom! My switch and crossing filing jig works for this code 82 rail.. I need to file this rail a little more as we are not quite at a point. Now I look at the jig it actually says 70-100, which I'm guessing is rail code, so I shouldn't have worried. I'm well chuffed !!

Indomitable026
and with wing rails; although when I come to remove the assembly from the jig I found the 'V' wasn't soldered to the copperclad - must try harder! What I'm thinking of doing is building all of fiddleyard pointwork first, hopefully this will give me good practice and things are something like a reasonable quality when I get to building the points around the front.

No - to be fair for the effort and research it's more than worth the money, by a factor of ten!

No so here. Where would the interlocking be? Behind the frame? Quite probably directly off the back of the frame near the top so just out of sight in the pics but easily accessible from those doors. It can be a small locking tray or individual electric lock boxes, I'd guess the L&B era would be pure mechanical especially here.Similar to this type in first couple of photos. http://interlockings.blogspot.co.uk/2013/11/nene-valley-railway-ground-frame.html?m=1 The rear doors would be a nice detail. Indomitable026
Mark Forrest has very kindly sent me a Templot extract of an o14, 1 in 8 'pointwork'. So having built a crossing (not frog, American term - noted, Dave) the next job will be to build the rest of the S&C (point)... Something for the weekend perhaps...
RMweb Premium wagonbasher Posted October 29, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2015 Just a suggestion... I am using flat bottomed rail on copperclad for tackeroo at the moment and find if I slit the flat bottom on the inside of any bend I have to make, the bend easier and without any twisting Andy
RMweb Premium Mark Forrest Posted October 29, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2015 Doesn't it then have a tendency to bend as a series of short straights rather than a smooth curve though?
Indomitable026
Slit it? How?
RMweb Premium wagonbasher Posted October 29, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted October 29, 2015 I'm only talking wing rails and the flares on check rails etc, the gentle curves are fine. I just use a razor saw Andy
