Popular Post tjf4375
To give myself a break from trees, I've moved away to working on the station area of the layout. I've been putting this off for ages as I didn't know whether I still had all the drawings I'd made in 2015. Thankfully I was able to find them and they tallied with what I'd already built in this area, so that was a huge help. I've started with the lower part of the main station building: Looking east with the upper level plate added View of the disabled car parking area
Popular Post tjf4375
Greetings and hope everyone's keeping well! A quick update this evening before I go to bed. I've continued to focus on the station area and since the last update around 3 weeks ago I've made quite a bit of progress so I thought it was worth posting a few pics of how things are going. It always surprises me just how long everything takes with this stuff, but the area around the station block, including the disabled carpark and underpass is now completed. It makes a change being able to see something scenic in the background when looking at trains in the platforms! The station building itself is progressing but it's also swallowing up a huge number of hours. Annoyingly when I was working on the carpark, I did end up accidentally gluing down the lower part of the building - the idea was for this to be removeable until both parts were completed, so that I could work on it all as a complete unit. This means I now have to keep going to and fro to check the top floor still fits as I'm working on it which is a pain. Looking northbound from the disabled carpark. Weeds and 'stuff' , and that peculiar portacabin looking thing that sits at the south end of the disabled carpark. Couldn't work out what it is but it has a roller shutter, weather boarding, brickwork, weathered timber and felt roof. As such it took ages to make, and is now half hidden by greenery and fencing! Plants and moss added to the long disused newspaper platform opposite platform 4. More weeds and overgrown stuff at the north end The ticket hall in progress 22 8

Popular Post tjf4375
A bit more headway made with the booking hall over the weekend and I think it is starting to take shape. I made a 'test fitting' this evening and everything does still seem to be lining up ok so I feel confident to plough on! It is a deceptively complex structure with lots of intersections of shapes, angles etc and there's been lots of shuffling back and forth to the computer screen to double check things. I've ordered a few bits and bobs from Scale Model Scenery - ticket barriers and vending machines etc and they will all go in fairly soon so I can put the roof on, and the hope is that the floor and roof plates will provide a sturdy frame for the glazing panels to slot into. I have to admit I had been looking forward to working on this bit and am enjoying it, but it's taking a lot of thought and is extremely fiddly. Anyway I hope these shots give a better idea of how it's all going together and how it's looking in situ. Looking northbound. The upper level cladding sides of the main building are in place. Still some bits and bobs to go in at the right corner which is behind where Pumpkin is. This angle gives a bit more information about how everything fits together And a slightly unnerving shot from platform level! The gap is exactly where the footbridge will attach. 19
Popular Post tjf4375
Hi all and hope everyone's well. Progress has continued steadily (but slowly) on the booking hall and it's been painfully tedious and fiddly at times. The last couple of days a few bits and bobs arrived, and I've had fun making other details and working on the interior and ceiling detail. The side of the booking hall is of course fully glazed so I did want to spend a bit more time on this area so there's things to see when you look through the windows! Here's a few fun pics I took this evening with the LEDs switched on - the wiring is an absolute mess behind the scenes but that will all be hidden inside the back offices before too long. The other thing still to go in is of course people - I'm waiting for a few figures to arrive from ebay so hopefully I can take a few more shots with them at the weekend. Anyway hope you enjoy the pics and comments and feedback most welcome as always! The view as seen looking down towards the barriers from the main entrance From the lift - this is the view you get as you first come into the hall from the footbridge Looking through the windows (you can't get this view in real life unless you're a window cleaner) 31 13
